Just for my information, and anyone elses who might need to deal with this at any time.

http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9118&highlight=Corellia TSO, splitting from TSC, retakes the planet Corellia. The thread appears to be unfinished, but they did take the planet. I assume some of the others bits to this story were lost on the TSC ezboard. 08-30-00

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9076&highlight=talus This thread is mainly an argument about the ownership of Talus and Tralus, which was eventually credited to TIE, a group that no longer exists, making the eventual ownership of the two by TSO legal. 12-02-00

http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16384&highlight=Corellia TSO thread claiming that TSO only controls Corellia our of the Corellian system. 12-01-00

http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17453&highlight=Corellia Thread in which members of TSO express doubt that Corellia was re-taken from TSC or that TSO had moved to Corellia. Apparently...it was and they had. 01-09-01

http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16318&highlight=Corellia Dark Lord Dyzm plots the next step in taking the Corellian Sector by targeting another planet. Planets listed as belonging to TSO in the Corellian Sector: Corellia, Xyquine. Planet targeted: Anchoron. 01-21-01

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16286&highlight=admiral+AND+roebuck Admiral Roebuck, RPed by Gav Mortis, shares his plans to retake the rest of the Corellian Sector, starting with Talus and Tralus. No other planetary takeovers are found. 02-14-01

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7866&highlight=talus The taking of Talus and Tralus in the Corellian system by Admiral Roebuck of TSO. 02-15-01

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8569 In this thread I correctly refer to Selonia as not belonging to TSO, but on friendly terms with it. 04-26-01

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8250&highlight=talus Planet listing where TSO does not hold Selonia. Dated 07-10-01, and no TSO spokesperson objected to it being left off.

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12072&highlight=talus Selonia inexplicably appears on TSO's planet list, no takeover thread has been found. 02-13-02

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26111&highlight=talus Thread where I inadvertantly credit Selonia to TSO, but this is only because I assumed, and you know what happens when you assume. I incorrectly refer to Selonia as belonging to TSO, only because I was many years out of the situation and no longer remembered correctly. 12-23-02

http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31316&highlight=talus Posts 26-28, and post 38 seem to show that Selonia in fact never belonged to TSO. 08-11-03

Damon the Shade is right, in a fashion, in what he posted about the Selonia issue, however I see it this way:

A planet could make a decision to come to the NR on it's own. To RP it, all you would need is an interested party to RP someone from that planet. TSO has not made any efforts to actually claim Selonia, and now that it is being contested, we should just hand it to TSO?? It doesn't make sense to me, but perhaps someone else can explain it to me.

If it can be decided that the unclaimed planet Duros could be given to the NR without a breath of RP about it, then the unclaimed planet Selonia should have the same opportunity, imo.

From what I have gathered, the RP to claim to planet never happened, and its just being assumed that TSO have the planet because its part of the Corellian system. So...

I agree. Since I'm playing the only two Selonian natives at the moment - the Senator and a citizen - I don't see a problem with them bringing themselves, voluntarily, into the NR, like you suggested. I think it would be much more interesting, as far as being able to do RPs relating to it go.

EDIT -
Just another point. Someone brought up that Duros was handed over to the NR without question, so Selonia should be given TSO in the same way. But the only reason TSO is claiming ownership of the planet is because it's in the same system as their planets - if that was the case, you'd have a lot of other groups claiming they should also be receiving free planets just because they're 'next door' to their current planet(s).

After putting forward a few arguements to Rie, she said it was okay with her if Selonia was indepedent.

Independant as in ...not connected to TSO or the NR?

Right. She posted something along those lines in the group rp forum, in the planet reset thread. It does fit in with what the Selonian's are meant to be like - wary of the outside world, etc.

Kinda like Bakura? :)

I don't have a problem with that. If the NR wants it, the NR can start a diplomatic mission to Selonia.

If TSO wants it, then TSO can start a takeover thread. As for me, I'm done with the Selonian problem.

As far as saying "Selonia MUST STAY independant" I have to disagree. I've never agreed with Bakura having to stay independant either, as there is no group with a claim to it other than a single RPer - you, Nav - but we've agreed to disagree about that one.

Fair enough. We say its independent and leave it at that. That works fine for all parties.

EDIT -

just to clarify, is it still alright then for Selonia to be involved with these talks or would that need to be scrapped now?

I have no claim on it either... I wanted something to be true to the books around here for a change <shrugs>. I dont -own- the planet as Navaria. But that got into a debate and it ended up being not owned by anyone.

As for that .. I am staying out of the whole planet thing now. Whatever happens, happens and I can give up Gaeriel for that matter if need be.

Okay, I'm a bit behind obviously. Whats all this about the NR and/or TSO debating over/gobbling up planet ownerships and debating independant planets?

And give me the short quick run down if you will please. I really don't have time to go off and read a few topics to catch up right now. Thanks.

It came up in a senate discussion. Blade Ice wanted to make Duros a part of the NR and play the senator from Duros in the Senate. Duros is not under any other group, so I agreed with other posters that that would be okay.

Jenny asked if she could do the same with Selonia, and because I said okay to Blade and Duros I saw no reason to say no to Selonia. LV jumped in and said that Selonia was TSO's, and I researched it extensively and Selonia is not TSO's.

We reached a happy medium proclaiming Selonia as an independant planet. Now if Jenny wants to RP a Selonian senator she's going to have to use her already registered Selonian character to bring Selonia to the NR. And if LV wants Selonia she's going to have to RP that as well.

Thanks for the background info in a concise form. Sounds pretty reasonable so far.

Now to decide on a new mod. If Visc gets the nod and accepts it, his being involved with this whole "planetary reset" business would be a very good thing.
