History
The only other design within the Federacy vaults worthy of the pocket battle ship name was the Thanatos-class. However, this vessel proved to be extremely expensive and time consuming to produce. Very few of the Thanatos model ever saw service. Thus, the Federal Bureau of Military affairs deemed it necessary that a cheap alternative to the powerful Thanatos-class be produced using Federal Gunship technology and Thanatos technology.
The answer was the DreadLord, an entirely new step in the Gunship direction. Loaded down with heavy weapons and lacking fighter support, the DreadLord follows the mold set by the Federal Gunship. With the incorporation of munitions based weapons and a [TOP SECRET] along with alternative close range weapons, the Thanatos path is achieved.
Using Titan engines, which have proven to be cheap to produce and use readily available parts and technology, along with Negative Matter Pulse Drives, the DreadLord is not only deadly, but amazingly fast. The incorporation of the cheaper Prostasia armor and architecture system allows amazing redundancy while keeping costs low.
Few Federal vessels had the capabilities to fully assault planets, thus, the DreadLord was equipped with special planetary combat utilities and vehicles.
Physical Description
Hailed by many as an evil vessel designed for dark deeds the DreadLord stays true to its name. The jagged edges of the vessel are accentuated by a forward, smooth curve producing the bow of the ship. Like the Gunship design, the forward portion tapers to a perfect degree to allow immense forward firepower.
The engines of the vessel are [TOP SECRET]. Unlike the Thanatos or Gunship, there are no top structures on the DreadLord, giving it somewhat more streamlined appearance.
