Current Research Notes
As with the original prototype, power drain on primary systems such as the ship’s reactor prove too great to feed energy from the central reactor. As such, a reactor dedication to powering the guns has had to be installed on both the cruiser and battleship. The elimination of four turbolaser cannon has been precipitated as such, but the guns have not been removed to maintain the illusion of the guns’ presence.

Regulating the proper power feed from the power source has as well been difficult, the current margin for error between ten and fifty megawatts. At the commencement of the experiment, five terawatts was the margin, so improvement has been made. The gun draws the power automatically from a regulation chamber inside the breech, but if too much is drawn, the gun will overload. The second prototype did so, killing the all fifty men of the gun crew – an imbalanced regulator was installed on all subsequent models. A specific amount of power will be not be drawn per shot as with standard turbolasers currently in service, but instead from a small margin as earlier stated. This will prevent any modulation as to power strengths from being attained but will also allow the gun to do what it was designed for – the allow the power of its shot to dissipate and overload any matter in its way, including that which is suspended ionicly in the form of energy shielding.
