But, I was just thinking, is cannibalism illegal, even if the person is already dead?

Put BBQ sauce on it and you can't tell the difference. Texture is more like pork, I suppose. ;)

Thread is now good.

Somehow, I dont think human flesh is part of the Atkins diet.

Now, why are we wondering about what flesh tastes like? Ask you local Manflesh eating Orc!

The Donner party wasnt prosecuted. I do think there can be mitigating circumstances, but to kill someone for a taste = prison and a big guy named Bubba >D

I'd imagine that buying up corpses to prepare for a private dinner party would be completely illegal. Unfortunately. ;)

I dunno. If you bought it, it is your property and if you get busted you could stick with the 5th amendment. Though I don't think you can buy dead bodies anyhow.

Any of you seen the movie Alive (which is based on a true story). You can eat dead people if its a matter of survival.

Except that you potentially end up with "kuru", and your brain turns to sponge.

Or...both. :p

And what's kuru??

It's a term for, what amounts to, the human form of "Mad Cow"/Chronic Wasting disease. It eventually turns your brain into mush. Before it does that, it causes delusions and hysteria.

We all have the same jokes....

Oh God is this how it starts!

First we get seperated from the Trail, lose our way as we head to California and now John Donner wants us over for dinner...

He said bring Ketchup...

Because of fraud. The objective we're trying to achieve here is buying a dead body, which becomes your property, but it has to be legal, it can't be under any corporation/company/school it has to be under YOUR name. Then we eat it. I'm not sure if we can do that though. Hm.

Didn't Kuru wipe out an entire tribe of aborigines or something due to their chronic cannabilism?

And I believe the word Kuru means, "The shakes or tremors" in the native tongue of the tribe that it afflicted.

Try reading some American History, a.k.a. The Oregon Trail, or the Gold Rush (I can't remember exactly when the Donners were traveling up here.) Obviously I need to read some again too. ;)

The Donner Party left too late in the year to travel by wagon train from the East to the West. Thusly they got caught in a mountain pass and stuck in the snow and the only survivors survived because they ate the flesh of their fellow travelers who died.

The Donner party was actually heading south, across the Sierra Nevada mountains if I remember correctly, where they were caught in the snow.

I saw that, I was going to say something earlier, but I couldn't remember what the movie was called. That was was nasty, 'You can eat me, if I die.' Ick...

Ha, that's what I thought. That was so weird. Especially since the volunteer tried to back out after he was already getting eaten or some such.
