Technology Explained

Federal Storm Guard
The FSG are mobile infantry troopers that have shown a great ability to manipulate the CTS system. These warriors are equipped with a composite armor (RIEM-CC Trooper Variant) and a host of Sevon Rifle, Co. weapons. The FSG use the new Neural Cognition System to control their suits and equipment.

The FSG is the special of special forces. They are few and elite, trained in even more Federacy technology and weaponry than any other organization. Suit variants for the FSG range from light skin-like armor to heavy exo space combat armor.

Quick Deployment Pods
Just like the Dirk-class, the Thanatos-class is equipped with small, one-time use drop pods for invading planets.

These pods slowly break apart as they enter a planet’s atmosphere, giving the allusion of space debries. Eventually the trooper is “dropped” from the pod and the remainder metabolizes, leaving no entry vehicle to be found.

Blazer JX1
The BJX1, like many of the other blazer series, is a fast, reliable engine. The main difference between all other units and the BJX1 is that this system is designed specifically for large vessels (800m+). The BJX1 has a larger range of motion and greater vectoring technology.

Each unit can be maneuvered independently and can have its power flow adjusted independently. New, more powerful compression chambers are used to achieve a large propulsion ratio without a large exhaust port.

GelGate Beta RV-2
Based on studies that identified minor flaws in the calculations of all hyperdrives in use, the Beta RV-2 is an improvement to the amazing GelGate series. This hyperdrive uses collected data to modify its own stream, entering more negative matter or less depending on the speed being traveled and any gravitational anomalies.

Refocillating Ionized Electromagnetic Cubatom-Carbon-Resin Fiber
The structure of carbon atoms has been drastically altered using new collision and reintegration technologies. Each atom contains electrons and protons arrayed in a perfect square. These cubatoms have bonds stronger than hydrogen bonds due to the interlinking static positioning of each electron and proton.

Sheets of the new cubatom carbon armor are treated exactly like the old carbon fiber producing thin, durable, extremely malleable sheets. These sheets are taken and galvanized and electromagnetic nodes and ionization nodes are implanted. The fields projected, just like on EMC armor, push energy away from the actual surface where it is dissipated when the ionization fields literally tear apart the atoms in an attempt to bond with them.

Each sheet of armor is backed with refocillating gel. The gel is filled with micro-strips of cubatom steel thread and contains memory cells that literally push the impressionable cubatom carbon fiber armor into place. Upon breaching of the armor a catalyst is activated and the gel hardens in the exposed place. The thin threads of cubatom steel help reinforce the wounded area.

After each layer of refocillating gel is a layer of thin neutron/cubatom carbon composite armor (the atoms for the material neutron portion contain only neutrons, causing them to be very dense and sturdy). This backing helps prevent penetration and furthers the shape of the overall hull.

Neutron Triangle Energy System Architecture
Everywhere within the ship that a circle or triangle could be used they were used. Each brace for those sections is made from neutron/cubatom carbon material. This causes the bolsters to bend to a degree but hold their overall shape and functionality. The amount of neutron atoms to cubatom carbon was balanced perfectly to allow these actions.

After every few sections there is a doubled brace containing a thin cubatom transparasteel bulkhead. These bulkheads have ionization and electromagnetic nodes, just like the ship’s armor, and have basically the same function.

Densa-Cannon MKII “Reaper”
The “Reaper” is a more concentrated form of the regular densa-cannon. Advanced compressors focus the beam more than in previous versions and higher-grade cubatom galvanized focusing crystals aid in the tightness of the projected energy.

Sunburst Battery
Sunburst batteries are pulse weapons, they fire concentrated packets at intervals. Each unit is swiveled and traversed by newer, higher power electro magnets. The SBB weapons’ emission consists of a thin layer of destructive ions encased in electrified plasma that is finally encased in negative matter.

Each shot, due to its intriguing layered design, travels at a remarkable rate. Upon impact with shields the unrestrained negative matter begins a disruption that subsequently takes energy away from the shield and lines the rest of the pulse with it. The electrified plasma then adds to the weakened state of that area of the shield and finally the destructive ions rip apart the molecules that remain.

The effect on armor is just as amazing. The negative matter erupts on the hull, forcing portions of the particles that make up the armor into quantafoam and decimating the bonds between atoms. Upon this weakened armor the plasma collides, superheating and heating through the material. The next portion, the ions, rip apart any atoms in their wake.

Multi-purpose Burrower Missile Launcher
The burrower missiles are a series of new missiles designed to penetrate armor and inflict specific damages. The generic missile consists of a droid-controlled brain that has an easily programmed language, center with energy dispensers/focusers and A.L.F. emitter, and the upgradeable engine pod.

The current variants in use are as follows:

Anti-personel –
This portion contains a neutron warhead. Upon exiting the armor of the vessel, the droid brain quickly calculates the size of the room, adjusting its position until it enters the center of the room. Once the missile has achieved this goal, it detonates it neutron package. The neutron warhead produces immense amounts of radiation that kill off life without destroying the ship itself.

The droid brain comes with a script that can be activated to allow the weapon to be used against ground troops.

Anti-fighter Group
The center module is modified to have a miniature shield generator rather than an A.L.F. generator. Upon launch the droid brain calculates where the nearest formation of enemy fighters is. When the weapon reaches maximum effective distance it explodes releasing hundreds of smaller high explosive cores that detonate when the intact droid brain calculates they are in optimal position.

Bunker Buster
The bunker buster is designed to break through hardened facilities and detonate in a specific room or when a specific target is found. The droid brain is programmed and the weapon launched. The center warhead consists of a neutron bomb or high explosive center.

An add on cone fits over the droid brain. This addition coats itself in plasma to aid in the penetration of hardened structures and vibrates at a super sonic rate, allowing it to easily slice through dense materials.


Naftikos Command Style
The Naftikos style was developed by Admiral Naftikos of the Federal Bureauof Military Affairs in order to better the command structure of Federal vessels. The command deck has been minimized and the new Neural Cognition System utilized. Each officer is remotely connected to their station like with the Consciousness Transfer System, however, the addition of a neural H.U.D. and the Cognition software allow them to better control the systems they command.

The bridge no longer contains viewport. These ancient threats have been replaced with large high-resolution monitors. The command chair is elevated over a much smaller work pit. The new pit consists of one row of stations that face towards the center of the room. As with the Flag-class bridge, the commander overlooks the pit and has his own personal displays and holo projectors.

Neural Cognition System
The NCS was developed to further the CT system with new advances in neural technology. This system relies on a new, more powerful chip with the distinct capability to stimulate specific areas of the human brain.

Upon insertion, the new chip “learns” which sensations mean what and which chemical releases mean what. All data collected, and future data, is stored in the brain itself. Cubatom fiber optic steel literally “grows” into the brain to allow new levels of manipulation and readings. This method also allows better transmission of the chip’s readings.

The new NC system can control everything from chemical releases in the human body to the electrical fields projected around the body itself. The Cognition software has the distinct ability to be upgraded remotely, unlike the former static firmware, and has more intricate control capabilities.

Once the chip learns its surroundings, it has the ability to project images, recall images, and much, much more all upon demand. This new system greatly lowers the error percent of former the CT system. NCS is backwards compatible with older CTS interfaces and the chip can instantly decipher a NCS device from a CTS device.

Like the old CT system, the new NC system is self-metabolizing. This means that all traces of the implant may be removed when specific Boolean expressions in the firmware are met.

Confessor Collapser Railgun
Magnetic accelerator tubes are clearly visible on the upper portion of the Thanatos design. The accelerator tubes are 400 meters of electrical fields designed to propel the Confessor round to amazing speeds.

The Confessor round is actually a droid. Each round, when fired, is a perfect sphere. Upon approaching shields the round fires an A.L.F. allowing it to penetrate. When in range of the ship’s armor the droid unfurls and becomes a long, flat projectile with multiple legs.

The Confessor droid spits a mixture of plasma and acid onto the hull, forming a small slit for it to penetrate. Once the droid is inside the vessel it becomes a sphere again, this time slicing arms are released from either side. The droid uses high-powered electro magnets to propel itself through the craft and kill personnel.

The droid is also equipped with a light laser gatling and ion warhead. Once the Confessor has received too much damage to continue or it has expended as many lives and as much machinery as it can find it erupts with a huge ionic explosion designed to disable any remaining technology and cripple any nearby life forms.

Physical Description
Unlike star destroyers that are flat and wider horizontally than vertically, the Thanatos-class is fairly tall (vertically) and skinny (horizontally). Sharp angles in the vessel aid in its deflection and prevention of projectiles and sweeping lines provide more stability in atmosphere. The Thanatos was modeled off the squid-like creatures that originally inhabited Omerose’s seas—before they were all turned into chemical waste holding facilities—and the organic influences can be seen, specifically towards the rear of the vessel.

History
With war looming on the horizon the Federacy commissioned United Imperial Technologies and Maverick Labs to develop a new, compact, agile battleship that could duke it out with the heaviest vessels. The Federal Bureau of Military Affairs was given the express role of overseeing the development and testing of the new craft, along with the ability to specify the requirements for the contractors.
