Designation - TIE Defender Mark IV
Upgrade Specifications:
Weapons:
Previous models of the Defender have used four light laser cannon arranged in two fire-linked pairs. The Mark IV trades in the two pair for two-single heavy laser cannon, one located on each of the two ventral pylons. The third and dorsal pylon will retain the dual light ion cannon, though power for it will be permamently routed through the solar ionization reactor. This does increase overload possibility if hit, but increases as well the power of each shot.
The magazine for onboard projectiles has been increased to ten missiles - either concussion or protonic weapons can be used.
Power Plant:
The standard solar ionization reactor has been upgraded to the new Sienar XJ-15, boosting sublight speed by 15%.
Pilot Amenities:
To increase pilot survival, an ejection suite has been added replete with crash-couch, emergency ration and repair kit, and personal side arm. As well a homing beacon and trasnmitter is attached enabling the pilot to be rescued if downed on an uncharted world. The transmitter has a limited power, but if patched through a standard Imperial relay satellite can communicate with anyone via text connected to the network.
Ship Defenses:
Two Novaldex Shield generators have been interchangted for the low-grade unit installed on previous models. One of the generators is an auxilliary unit and relatively low powered, but can be shunted to increase primary power to 120 percent. This causes the primary generator to overload, giving the pilot approximately fifteen minutes' use before.
Mark V:
This is designated the Mark V Attack-Defender. each heavy laser is replaced with a light turbolaser cannon - - - at the cost of the auxilliary shield generator. The primary is not as strong as on the Mark IV, but the cannon more than make up for it.
