I have a ripped VHS screener copy of LoTR - RoTK that clocks in at 1.99 GB (4 VCDs) and am curious if there is any interest in my torrenting it here. Since we have the 800 MB file size limitation in place, and my upload speed kind of sucks I would most likely want to do it in 4 pieces (1 CD at a time). But lets hear it; Are you folks interested in having a fairly high quality rip of LoTR - RoTK? Or, should we wait untill the DVD Screener hits and release it here then? Or should we just wait (buy the DVDs) and not offer RoTK here at all?

4 CDs? The version I saw was 6, Zany.

Personally, I don't like downloading movies more than once. So I'll be waiting for a DVD screener/retail DVD. Not buying it until the EE comes out.

Jack "no vcr" Valenti promised all us good little pirates that our christmas presents for 2003 would be a total lack of DVD Screeners, so I don't know if LOTR:ROTK will have one. This might be as good as it gets, in which case get downloading before the torrents dry up.

I think a better way to go would be to link to a torrent on suprnova-2 gigs is a rather hefty slice of bandwidth. Anyone know any suprnova mirrors that are currently working?

There's a couple sources for ROTK up at Suprnova now.

I'm not that interested in it, personally. But, since my upload speed tends to be pretty good, I'd be willing to dl it and serve as a seed for others if there is a lot of interest.

I'm not interested this time around, not yet anyway. ROTK is very much a movie I have more money to spend watching right now. Maybe after it's left theatres.

AFAIK none are the RiNG screeners though.

well spank my ass and call me sally, they released 2 new ones, with better quality to boot! I thought that Telecine = VHS, but that's not possible if it produced that sharp a rip AND Dolby 5.1 448kbps. WTF is a Telecine source, anyway?

anyway, 2 new versions: 1 is a 4-CD PAL SVCD and the other a 3-CD internal 640x256 XviD with Dolby 5.1 448kbps

The only thing I know is that a Telecine is a machine which converts 24fps film content into 30fps NTSC content by taking the PPPP (4 non-interlaced frames) pattern of film and making it PPPII (3 non-interlaced frames and 2 interlaced frames).

I'm a bit hesitant to jump on that because its in PAL format and has Russian subtitles when elvish is spoken. :\

Dude, that might be classic! Have you ever heard about the Dubbed Russian version of Star Wars? Classic! :D

The Engrish subtitles on FOTR and TTT were absolutely hillarious, but I don't think this is quite the same thing. ;)

If I've learned anything at all from watching TV, it's that Russian is the exact same thing as English, only in a funny accent, louder, with more hand gestures, and an upside down letter R.

edit~ and lots of communism
