The British Academy released their noms today. The BAFTA's are historically a pretty bad indicator for Oscar glory - as their results are typically all over the map. Hoowever, a few things struck me.

'Big Fish' made a really strong showing. WHY is CM considered "British"?? Scarlett Johannson getting 2 lead noms is amazing. MR and Sb both getting shut out. Anyways..here they are...

You'd have to find out their criteria. There's a lot of different ways to class where a movie is from.

Does Big Fish have any Oscar hope? Besides the nod for Finney which I expect him to get and probably win.

Well, I don't expect BF to score more than a handful of nods. I mean maybe Art/Set Design in addition to Finney. The Brits seemed to love it though.

I do hope Finney wins he deserves an Oscar, maybe it could get nod for best screenplay and maybe art direction and some other technies.
