I know this isn't due out until 2005, but I was just reading over this ( http://pc.ign.com/articles/446/446583p1.html) at IGN for the first time and thinking the game actually sounds quite good. I'm glad to hear that you will be able to explore areas that weren't included into the films (the Barrow Downs :D) The classes seem a bit limiting – it says that there are only two available for men, soldier and sage … maybe they'll add more before it comes out? Would be nice to see some ranger/scout/wizard type options. The customizable background sounds quite interesting, but I suppose you'd have to play it to see how much of an affect it had on your game play (whether it was just a couple of bonuses on various skills and feats or something larger).

Now I have to choose between WoW and this. Damn me for being such a Blizzard fanboy.

I'm still trying to figure out which name I'll use. If I decide to be a man, I'll choose the name Eärendur if I can. If I decide to be of Elf-kind, I'll be a female named Elenwë.

Maybe they'll add more? Still a year before it's released.

Doesn't say that in the press release, so I'll hold my breath on that.
The risk with this is how much effort they put in before caving in and releasing. Many moan about Galaxies, why will this be different? WoW would have to better LOTR, LOTR could last on it's name. In theory.

I'm not going to hold my breath; Galaxies looked so promising and look at how that turned out. I fear the case will be the same here.

But the company that made Galaxies is infamous for its mediocre products.

And what is the company making LOTR famous for? Anything?

When did you play Galaxies? :)

You have to play Galaxies to know that 90% of its subscribers are ranting everywhere about how unsatisfying a game it is? You have to play Galaxies to read a review?

You still play it though ;)
EDIT - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/g/StarWarsGalaxiesAnEmpireDivided-708737/
8 for, 10 against. I see the reviews and notice that it is a game divided (ba-dum-tish!:)).

Not really. I play it for like 30 minutes every 2 days and wait in hopes that a future patch will actually give it some content.

Aren't ridable vehicles content? Or do you mean in a more general sense of the term.

Rideable vehicles are a way to more quickly get to places in the game that have no content. You literally get to go nowhere at a rate of about 5/6th of a kilometer a minute.
