Tough break Marcus. Remember, next week will have Sat. games as well. The NFL typically has Sat. games late in the season once college football is over. They've been doing it for years.

OMG! Did anyone see the end of the Saints/Jacksonville game?! The Saints used mutiple laterals to score a game tying TD in the final seconds of the game. At least it looked like it was going to tie the game until they missed the extra point! Wow..

The Colts MUST win. The Dolphins beat up the hapless Bills again and are now poised to take that wildcard spot from the Broncos...if Indy beats Denver.

Jedieb
Dec 21st, 2003, 03:55:39 PM
Friggin' Fins, year after year they curse my picks! I think Denver has its work cut out for it tonight. I don't see how they can beat Indy without Portis at 100%. The Bills truly were horrible today. But Fiedler just doesn't look good at times. He's so damn inaccurate. I just don't think he's going to be able to lead Miami very far. It's a shame to, because the Dolphins have alot of talent at the WR positions.

The Cowboys clinched a playoff spot and the Rams clinched a first round bye. If the Niners pull off the upset the Rams will have the #1 seed and no one wants to go to that dome in the playoffs.

Tenn. won, but they look banged up. They're struggling too much to make me think they can take on the Pats or the Colts in the playoffs.

Ryan Pode

mmm... 10-1 at the moment.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 21st, 2003, 10:40:13 PM
Denver won but I think they will get their tails kicked in GB next weekend. So as long as Miami beats the Jets I think they will get in. Also with the Colts loosing NE basically has HFA (I think) and KC has a first round bye. As a chief fan I rather be the second seed as the first seed as been a curse for the most part (only the 99 Broncos won the SB in the last 15 years) Especially for the Chiefs they have gotten beat twice in the second round as a #1 seed. And right now I am very warry of the Titans especially with Mcnair he can win anywhere.

JMK
Dec 21st, 2003, 10:44:36 PM
Eb, Fiedler is HORRIBLE. He may be good at 'managing the game', but give me talent any day of the week. Coaches can manage games. He CANNOT hit a moving target, and he has the second worst QB ratings in the 4th qtr in all of the NFL. He's just brutal. And I think anyone that posts his 4th best record as an active starter is grasping at straws or just being a talking head. The Dolphins defense is the single most reason for their record, not ANYTHING to do with Fiedler at all. He's the least talented QB in the league and will not lead this Dolphins team anywhere. Aside from the implosion in Week 1 vs Houston, look at the other 5 losses the Fish have suffered and the QB on the other side of the ball: Brady x2, McNair, Manning, McNab. All FAR superior to Jay Feebler who will be due $5.5 million next season, and who I suspect will be released, as well as Dave Wannstedt. He's had the reigns of this team for long enough now, he should have been able to get more than one playoff win out of them. I hope he starts the #3 QB next week to see how he handles a full game, unless Desperation Dave thinks a 10-6 record is enough to save his job.

Jedieb
Dec 21st, 2003, 10:55:06 PM
Well Kyle, we both got eliminated today. It'll still be fun to watch the playoffs, but it just won't be the same this year. :cry

With today's developments the odds of a rematch between The Pats and Rams is looking pretty good. I think that would be one of the more interesting matchups we could get.

I think Fiedler's and Wannstedt's jobs are in jeopardy as well. (And they need to dump Norv Turner as well.) If they dump Fiedler they'll probably hand the reigns over to Griese. But I'll tell another problem I saw with the Dolphins this year, the offensive line. Ricky ran just as hard this year but the yards were much harder to come by. That line just didn't block for him this year. Lots of changes may be coming to Miami next year.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 21st, 2003, 10:57:19 PM
The dolphins though didn't get eliminated. I thought they had the tiebreaker over Denver?

Jedieb
Dec 21st, 2003, 11:02:48 PM
No, Denver eliminated them with their upset tonight. I'm not sure what tie-breaker they're using. I think it's probably the conference record one, but the Dolphins are out. The only AFC playoff spot up for grabs is between the Ravens and the Bengals. If the Ravens win or the Bengals lose next week, they're in. If the Ravens lose and the Bengals win then Cincy gets the tie-breaker.

Did everyone hear about Favre's father? He died in a car accident apparently caused by a heart attack or stroke today. I don't know how he could suit up tomorrow. Poor guy, his father was only 58 I believe. :(

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 21st, 2003, 11:12:34 PM
The tie breaker stuff is so complicated it takes a math major to figure it out. Here are the teams that are in

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1670914

The NFC playoff pitcher is the foggest with the North still up for grabs and and the last playoff spot as well (right now I think it will be the Vikings and Packers). Also it looks like Denver and the Colts will play again, hopefully Indy will play better than they did tonight. Also I wouldn't bet on a NE vs Rams SB, I think the top seeds have only reached the SB once in the last 20 years. And that was in 93 Buffalo vs Dallas. I think the #1 seeds are guarented nothing I think it could be a very crazy playoffs.

Looks like there is a very distinct possibility that Brett Favre's record games started steak could come to an end on Monday, but not because of injury.

Ryan Pode

Tie breaker goes:

Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in common games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.

If Ravens lose and Cinci wins, Ravens lose because of Strength of Victory. I personally think it should go to strength of victory between the two teams. Mainly cause the Ravens would win that one.

JMK
Dec 22nd, 2003, 09:22:44 AM
Favre's family has encouraged him to play tonight's game, but you've got to think it's going to be a difficult choice for him, and if he does suit up, where will his mind be for this pivotal game?

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 22nd, 2003, 09:22:57 AM
If they can't beat the Steelers they don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Ryan Pode
Dec 22nd, 2003, 09:30:43 AM
The Steelers always turn it up a notch against the Ravens. But they Steelers have been slacking bad this year defensively due to injuries... and with Jamal pushing 2,000 maybe they'll feel they need to stop him and play nine or ten in the box. :D

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 22nd, 2003, 09:38:42 AM
The Ravens should win the game though, but I admit it is not guarenteed. About Favre I think he will play, he might feel his father would want him to play.

Ryan Pode
Dec 22nd, 2003, 09:46:58 AM
They should, but one of two teams could show up. The Ravens that beat the Browns or the Ravens that didn't beat the Raiders.

Amazing performance by Brett Favre tonight... 22-30, 399 yards, 4 TDs. I can't imagine what it would be like to play with the kind of emotional baggage he carried into tonight's game.

For those following our Fantasy football championship is coming up, it is between Me, (the theed cats) after I beat the Patriots 53.50-50.50, sorry jjwr and the Amish Rake Fight who beat the Crunchy Critters 85.50-42.00. Should be an interesting game. By the way I know somebody told me once but whose team is Amish Rake Fight? I can't remember.

All I know is that I had the highest scoring team in the league, and I didn't make it into either playoff bracket. I'm still dumbfounded by the amount of bad luck one has to have for that to happen.

jjwr
Dec 23rd, 2003, 11:14:22 PM
Very close game JMC, about all I could ask for :)

Sadly I knew I was pretty much SOL watching the Pats vs Jets game, I had to cheer for the Pats with all of those Pennington picks but I knew they would ultimetly doom my Fantasy Team.

Oh Well, Pats win and keep on Rolling. 11 in a Row, need to make it 15!! :)

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 23rd, 2003, 11:53:15 PM
I think I only won because Holmes has such a huge game (3 TD) that gave me the win really the rest of my fanasty team didn't do that well. Not sure how I will do next week I will need Manning, James, and Harrison to have great game, as I am sure the Chiefs will let Holmes only play a half since they have a first round bye.

And Fig I don't have a clue either I noticed you lost a lot of games 85-77 stuff like that it was just bad luck I guess,
