AIM acting as a trojan ?

My friend, while chatting, told me his firewall was showing that AIM was periodically trying to send data to some remote IP. Apparently, that software can request the operating system in question to learn about the sorts of programs that are being used. Meaning ... I'm scared. o.o;

What viewpoint does is simply assesses what the best way to displays ads and crap via AOL services. It's not malicious and is's not really spying in the true sense. It's simply serving up crap as any crap server like doubleclick.com and AOL does.

If you dont like it, dont upgrade or use trillian or other multi access IM clients. Or dont use AOL products. It's that simple.

I saw this (http://rcc.bgsu.edu/faq/FixMessageTrojans.htm) on a LJ community I have in my friends list. It was talking about Trojans, so I figure it might be of some use (don't hold me to that. no guarantee).
