This sword (http://www.weaponmasters.com/index.html?ID=d28574f0d9771c4e4ff45d9e86d5d007&ITEM=JBL-758B4&SORT=PRICE_UP&FDX=1&FMAX=10), that I had planned to buy for Christmas, is out of stock! Damn crappy sword dealer. I now have to find a new sword set, quickly, as the 25th is 2 weeks away. Suggestions(Regarding sword dealers, besides SMKW, or perhaps a new sword set)? :x

didn't have time to check how good they where.

Here are tang types:
http://gungfu.com/cart-htm/swords_tang_types.htm

crappy swords like mine have no tang, and it all glued together. What crappy fun.

Get a Ka-Bar. Its much sharper, much stronger, and its utilitarian.

I've done everything from dicing chicken and slicing cheese to whittling wood and pruning Christmas tree branches with mine.

I have plent of knives. I have about 3 kershaws and gerbers, including a large hunting knife. I'm sure I could do all of that with them anyhow, Charley. You can dismember people with Ka-bar...well i guess you could, but it would take longer.

Thanks for all the links =)

EDIT: http://gungfu.com/cart-htm/swords_samurai_steel_blade.htm Wooooo, bootiful! First sword set is what I'm going to get, though I like the second very much. Too bad I don't have trees that grow money...

I recommend http://www.mantisswords.com

I bought several things from them, and I've been rather pleased. I'd recommend the Kami (under Folded swords) but it's a bit pricey. Beautiful sword, though.

I've got a katana and a fencing rapier from the 18th century. I'll try to get some pics of them up for ya Charley...you'd appreciate my instruments of death. :D

The rapier is beautiful. It has a brass handle that wraps fully around the hand :) It's quite nice.

Cool stuff man. I like Mantisswords. They seem to know what they're doing. Too bad their swords cost so much.

They do, but they're worth it. Try the practical katanas. They're not too bad, and they work quite well for slicing up milk jugs and orange juice cartons. :)

It doesnt take much to dismember someone. If I actually had to use a knife on a person, id rather it be small and razor sharp.

I can remove large-ish branches from a tree with one hack of a Ka-Bar. Believe me, an arm would be just as agreeable.

Ishan, I'd like to see your sword pics.

Hey, just as a sort of an aside (and also 'cause we didn't get to see Ishan's sword pics!) this is what a full tang sword would look like, isn't it?

No, at least I can't tell from that image if it is, but that has a BEAUTIFUL patination, and the hamon is loveley. THAT is real folded steel. Ohh, I want.

Full tang is when the steel goes all the way down through the handle to the pommel, or base. Most swords are only a partial tang, or rattail tang, which goes about halfway down the handle. the tang is the part of the blade that goes into the handle.

Oh...well since it says the handle is detatchable (?) it isn't full tang. But the sword is GORGEOUS and I just bid on it. $19.90 + s/h. Lemme get a link to the sellers other swords.

There are a ton more CHarley, and they're fairly inexpensive. It's a new seller on Ebay, and I think he should get real popular soon. Although his engrish is great. :p

I still haven't had time to clean my swords yet. They're still oiled up. The craftmans ship on mine turned out to be not that great. The tanto's is really crappy, I have to repaint some things soon. I'll probably start working on that this weekend. It's only a partial tang (I believe), but thats fine with me. Charley has the same set it seems.

Question - if a sword blade has a bit of rust on it is it possible to clean it off, or would that damage the sword? So I suppose I'm asking if it's possible to return a blade with a bit of rust on it to near prime condition. :huh
