Hey Jedieb did you forget to pick the TB vs NO game or are you unsure who is going to win?

Jedieb
Dec 6th, 2003, 01:51:53 PM
I'm just not sure who I want to go with. The Bucs are done and despite their recent struggles against the Saints, they've been in every one of those games. The Saints are irratic, but they always get up for Tampa. I may as well go with Tampa just to see if I can pick up a game on the leaders. Plus, I don't want any mixed feelings while I'm watching the game.

How do you all think the snow storm in the NE will effect this weekend's games? We got six games that will be effected, the ones the most effected will be the New England game (they got 2 feet up there) Buffalo and Pittsburg (both areas have almost 2 feet as well). Not sure what this means I think it would help the home team but who knows.

The Dolphins are built to run and the Pats have trouble stopping the run. The snow should help Miami, but the Pats are 4-0 in their last 4 home snow games. Brady can throw the ball short in any kind of weather. I'm just hoping Miami can finally show up big in December.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 7th, 2003, 10:33:20 AM
Miami is also played in mostly warm weather so the snow could effect them, it will be interesting to see.

Norv Turner should be taken out behind a woodshed and beat senseless. Yet another big game in which he forgets who his best player is. Start of the 4th quarter, 1st and 10 at NE's 35, AGAINST THE WIND, and what does he call? A pass of course. The ball almost gets picked off. Does he learn his lesson? NO, he calls another pass. And then another and Fiedler gets hit and fumbles. Dolphins get nothing. Then later in the quarter with the Dolphins pinned back at the 5, what does he call? That's right, another pass. This time it's intercepted and returned for a TD. Basically, the game is over. Way to go Norv!

JMK
Dec 7th, 2003, 06:53:34 PM
Thanks to Norv Turner and the horrid OL I now have similar hair to Scott Evil at the end of Goldmember. Except I yanked mine out. You know your offense sucks when they give up 3 times as many points as the defense. :x

Man I should have knew KC would lose in the Mile High they have only won their twice in the last 6 years. (One time they had Joe Montana at QB and the other Marcus Allen at RB) Now NE and KC are tied for best record. KC plays Detriot next week at home they will beat the snot out of them. Then they still have crappy Chicago and home another win, so that guarentees 13-3, I think they will beat Minnesota and go 14-2. As for NE I have a funny feeling the NY Jets will upset them they are a dangerous team right now. Also I am not sure about the Titans? They could be a dangerous wild card team or get booted out of the first round. And Indy I just don't trust they will probably get either Denver or Miami in their first game who knows what will happen there and then go to play at KC or NE in the second round neither place will be a great place for them to play.

Syo
Dec 7th, 2003, 11:08:32 PM
Wow did Clinton Portis almost play like a god in that KC game, the last 2 times he touched the ball he ran for 81 yards and 2 tds.

KC is a soft team, the Bengals showed it and now so did Denver. The Chiefs can not stop the run, so ram the ball down their throat and you will most likely win.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 7th, 2003, 11:18:10 PM
Well, the thing is they don't face any good running teams in the playoffs. New England has no running game. Tennessee's running game is old in Eddie George and Indy's running game isn't really that good, it is there passing game that makes them go. And I don't see Denver or Miami beating them in Arrowhead. So I still think they have a chance, heck 4 teams have a chance in the AFC.

Figrin D'an

I'll post the weeks results after Monday Night Football. Too tired right now.

Syo
Dec 7th, 2003, 11:49:37 PM
The Broncos beat them in Arrowhead this year already, the refs stole the game from them. Denver won but the refs cheated for the chiefs and did not call a cut block a blind man could have seen on that Hall runback.

You cannot tell me after what Denver has done to them this year, yes in Arrowhead as well as Denver that the Chiefs would not be very hard pressed to beat them in the post season.

Mike Shanahan cannot have missed on to the clue of how to beat the chiefs and that is to run the football then run it some more.

I think if the Chiefs and Broncos meet in the post season, it will be a game like this. Denver has the better offense and defense. The only place the Chiefs outshine them on is Special Teams.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 8th, 2003, 01:15:41 AM
I don't think the Broncos will make the playoffs honestly they have two tough games left at Indy and GB they might lose both of those games and then they won't make the playoffs. Besides if they get in they are a sixth seed and they probably won't play KC at all.

JMK
Dec 8th, 2003, 08:44:44 AM
Damn. With the Broncos win and the Dolphins loss, the Fish are out of the wildcard spot for now. They've got a softer schedule than Denver in the last 3 games so hopefully they can win at least 2 of those games and Denver loses 2 of them. If would be a disaster if Miami missed the playoffs with that defense. A disaster for me anyway. ;)

Syo
Dec 8th, 2003, 10:18:00 AM
Yea but its December, Miami can't win in December haven't been able to in almost 30 years. Miami will drop 2 of their games thats a giveme

Unless Denver has some kind of mental lapse next week when they play Cleveland they will pretty much lock up a playoff spot with a win because the fish will not finish better than 9-7

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 8th, 2003, 01:03:23 PM
What is Miami's schedule? If it is really soft I see Miami beating out Denver. Still I don't see either team winning the first game in the playoffs. I bet that either one gets beat by the Colts.

Edit
just looked it up Miami has the Eagles at home, at Buffalo and the Jets. Probably lose to the Eagles, Buffalo could go either way the Bills are a funny team, and the Jets who knows. They should still win there finally two games really they have an easier schedule than Denver.

Syo
Dec 8th, 2003, 02:03:35 PM
Sometimes its not lways about an easier schedule though. I expect them to lose to the Eagles, because the Eagles are just much better than they are.

Then ya got two divisional games on the road, and divisional games are always tough no matter how bad the other team is. Both games are in cold climates, I expect them to drop one or both of those games. And finish with a 9-7 record same as last year and just like last year miss the playoffs.

JMK
Dec 8th, 2003, 02:19:11 PM
The Jets game is at home. I suspect that the wildcard will be on the line in that game. I think the Dolphins will go 2-1 in their last 3 and finish 10-6 and edge out Denver.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 8th, 2003, 03:01:44 PM
That is what I think at the moment. The toughest of their divisional games is Buffalo and is at Buffalo, hopefully for Miami the weather is not as bad as it was this past weekend. Still the Bills are the most inconsistent team in the NFL it is hard to figure what team will show up.

Ryan Pode
Dec 8th, 2003, 03:46:39 PM
Johnson, who nicknamed himself "7-Eleven" because he says he is open all the time, agreed.

"They shut me down today," said Johnson, whose first catch came in the fourth quarter. "There's nothing I can say. 7-Eleven got robbed."

Thats just funny.

Friggin' NE and Balt. They're starting to resemble their Superbowl seasons. The Chiefs shouldn't panic yet, but they can't be happy about how their defense has played these last few weeks.

The Cowboys have overachieved for much of the season and it's starting to show. Luckily for them the NFC is weak this year and they should still be able to grab a WC.

The Rams could end up facing Philly in the NFC Championship game again. I want to see how they play tonight at Cleveland. No one wants to play the Rams in that dome in the playoffs. If the Rams get home field they'll probably find themselves back in the Superbowl. Where Martz will do his best Marv Levy impersanation and they'll get their butts handed to them by the Chiefs, Pats, or Ravens.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 8th, 2003, 05:09:26 PM
I think the Eagles will get homefield right now and will be in the SB finally. They are the best team in the NFC and the only hope for the NFC. Also I am not sure about the Colts. I think they will finally win a game in the playoffs (probably beating Denver or Miami) but I am not sure if they can advance farther than the divisional round, I am just not convinced of them yet. Tennessee could be Dangerous in the playoffs they could knock of the Ravens and then Pats/Chiefs easily I think with Mcnair they can win anywhere. Could be a third match up between them and the Colts.

Dec 8th, 2003, 07:24:31 PM
I don't want to sound dumb but, how exactly do the playoffs work?

Figrin D'an
Dec 8th, 2003, 09:04:55 PM
The Patriots seem like the best team in the league at the moment. With all due respect to guys like McNair and Manning, Tom Brady is the most clutch QB around right now. They don't have the best running game, but they still find ways to win with great defense and their control passing game.

I know the Eagles have been the hot team in the NFC, but I'm still not sold on them. Their defense is decent, but their offense is so fragile, it could implode at any time. I still think seeding isn't going to mean squat in the NFC this year. All that's going to matter is who gets hot in the final couple weeks heading into the playoffs.

It will if New England gets it. Foxboro in January is not a pleasent place for a visiting team.

Yeah but two years ago the Raiders almost won there. I am also not sure if will get it anyway, they have a tough game come up at the Jets and NE has had no luck winning there. I am think KC will win there last three games (two easy ones at home). And they will take home field. Still homefield doesn't mean much I remember two years KC had it and that game in arrowhead against the colts, 95, I think it was like -5 and they still lost to a dome team.

Dec 9th, 2003, 07:21:54 AM
Wow, I'm suprised Yoghurt stumbled like he did. Now I just gotta hold it for a few more weeks :)

What a great NFL Season this is turning out to be, looking at the potential playoff teams no matter the situation and who has home field(at least in the AFC) I don't see any easy matchups.

I'm a Pats fan so of course I may be a bit biased, I'm pretty sure they'll be a 1 or 2 seed, I can't see them falling that far down. Sadly the Chiefs have a cup-cake schedule the last 3 games(and most of the year) so if the Pats lose another game(which I think they will, the Jets game will be really tough) then the Chiefs will probably lock up the home field advantage.

Problems with the Dolphins making the playoffs is they've got a 5-5 conference record vs the Bronco's 7-5 conference record. Thats a lot of ground to make up, so if they tie the Bronco's get in, so they probably have to sweep and hope the Bronco's lose at least one.

As for the 2nd round, while the Pats have played great this year I don't think anyone would want to see the Bronco's, Titans, or Ravens in the 2nd round, even at home. Very tough games indeed. The AFC playoffs are looking to be totally stacked, can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I'm really hoping the Pats hold onto the #1 seed, they would have a definite advantage over the Colts, Chiefs in Foxboro, the others would be a bit more negligible but still better than nothing.

Now heres what I find funny, and as I said I may be a bit biased towards the Pats. People recently had been discussing the Pats, who's the best team, best clutch QB, etc....as the #1 seed the Pats don't seem to be getting picked. On PTI Last night they talked about the best team and kept saying the Eagles were the best.....how!! Check out any power ranking and the Pats have beat the majority of the top 10 teams including the Eagles.

Ditto for Brady, he doesn't put up the flashiest of numbers, lack of running game and questionable play calling doesn't help but in the clutch I don't think I'd take another QB. McNair and Manning keep coming up, I keep thinking that the Pats beat both those teams in part by late scoring drives by Brady and the Pats.

Ok I'm done now :)

Anybody else see Reeves was just fired by the Falcons, he told them if they were going to fire him after the season, fire him now, and well he got his wish. Wade Phillips will coach them for the last three games.

JMK
Dec 10th, 2003, 10:31:45 AM
As a Dolphins fan it's my duty to hate the Pats, but I've been saying it all season and for a large part of last season, but Brady is the king of the clutch. If the Pats are down by 10 or less points by the 2 minute warning, they still always come back and win. JJWR, do you know how many 4th qtr comebacks Brady has had in the past couple years?

jjwr
Dec 10th, 2003, 01:36:19 PM
The Reeves firing was a bit of a shock, I'm curious as to why he didn't want to finish the year as coach.

Don't worry JMK, I hate the Dolphins too :)

I think he's sitting at 11 or 12 for his career, which is under 3 full years as starter. Including 4 of his last 7 or so games. Also the active QB with the highest career winning percentage, something like 32-12.

He may not put up super flashy numbers but the guy knows how to win. I still miss Bledsloe flinging it around but it hard to argue with the Results of Brady.

jjwr
Dec 10th, 2003, 01:36:43 PM
Also 7-0 career in overtime, which is a career NFL best.

JMK
Dec 10th, 2003, 02:07:23 PM
There's no doubt the guy is clutch. He has a great head on his shoulders and always stays cool under pressure. But one thing I've always maintained, and I think others will partially, if not totally agree with here, is that God is a Pats fan. :p

Dec 10th, 2003, 03:12:23 PM
