View Full Version : Behold, the new look of the Cizerack

Charley

Actually, its the same look, but with live action pics. Close enough.

One of my big childhood fascinations and one of the major influences for the Cizerack (next to Outlaw Star) has been the miniseries/series V.

So, I'm now going to start using some modified pictures of the Sirian Visitors from the show. Here's a little example:

<img src=http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=609509>

I'm going to start screencapping and altering shots of the Sirians, and S'Ilancy is doing concept sketches for the Cizerack Hunter Forces uniforms, based on the show. If you'd like to use an altered screencap for a new character, let me know.

Schweet!

Too bad i don't really play my Ciz, at like all.

And the hell is/was V?

Charley

V was a sci-fi miniseries that was shown on NBC in 1983. Its kinda like Independance Day, except not sucky.

The premise is that mankind is suddenly visited by extraterrestrials, in 50 3-mile long ships, which begin to hover over every major city on earth. These visitors, from the star system Sirius, look like us, and have embraced our culture, wishing us peace and goodwill. They say they require a certain chemical which we can make, that will help to save their dying planet, when in reality, they are fascist reptilian aliens, disguised in false skin. Also, they are after our water and ready to enslave humanity, as shock troops, slave labor, and even a food supply. They begin slowly by persecuting and turning the human race against the scientific minds of the day, carrying out a holocaust against them. From there, they corrupt the nations of earth into turning the planet into a puppet state, with martial law quickly silencing all who oppose them.

The whole story is an allegorical retelling of the events in 1930's Weimar Germany, as the Nazi party began its rise to power, even down to little events like Kristalnacht, Triumph of the Will, and the Hitlerjungen (Hitler Youth)

A simple search is all it took.

Looks good, Charley. Better than the anime, imo. Though I despise anime.

Edit: N/m, looks like he beat me to it.

What would you suggest then? This is pretty consistent with my mental conception of them.

Lilaena De'Ville
Dec 1st, 2003, 11:38:37 PM
I don't suggest. I just said my opinion. You may do what you like, but their faces are too square or something. The nose doesn't seem right, and the glasses are awful. The glasses are granted, minor. :p

I dunno, I think they work well enough. Could be a whole lot worse (imo). It lookfs fine.

I tried to use the smudge tool to give their eyes a more asian look, but it doesn't work very well. Sculpting the face would be far more difficult than that. Lets just say that like humans, no two Cizerack faces are alike ;)

Reminds me far too strongly of Star Trek of the 60's.

and that INSHO, is a bad, bad thing. I'm sorry, but the new look is a big step backwards. Unless you get them looking more feline and less like a bad makeup job.

Why do they have to be that paticular race from V? They look like regular humans to me.

You could to that to any pic. I don't see (besides the bad uniforms ;)) what's so special about these V guys.

Star Wars was made in the 70s. Han Solo's outfit isn't too far off from what you would have seen in Star Trek, IMO. With that in mind, this look "fits" :)

Because the uniforms are fantastic.

Maybe you've failed to notice that (a) They match Ciz color scheme and (b) They are new age emulations of fascist attire.

This is why the look works the way it does.

The problem with picking them soley for the uniform is...most of the Cizerack characters on the board aren't military. :) It certainly works for those that are.

And nowhere did I say that this had to be adopted by all. It goes without saying that such attire would be for those of a military nature.

that would be snazzy. long coats and officers' caps. Mass murder aside, the nazis sure did know how to make imposing uniforms.

I just don't like the new look. To me, the point of being alien is to be out-and-out alien. These pictures make the Cizerack more like human off-branches and not their own distinct species.

You really need a more catlike species to draw base pictures from, I think.

What a suprising observation. You may have missed the past 3 or so years of their use, but the formula really hasn't changed at all.

They are humanoid. Thats kinda the idea of it all. The only thing that's changed is the medium in which I'm presenting them.

Not touching this except to say I haven't missed the past three or so years and you REALLY could stand to not be insulting about how you express things.

I got the impression from the anime shots that they were about halfway cat. Now maybe it's just the way those pictures were originally drawn, or maybe it's the way they were adapted for use. Either way, they conveyed a feral feline quality that I appreciated.

I don't see it in the new stuff. It looks out-and-out fake to me.

They are cat-like humanoids. Humanoid != looks like a human. It = two arms, two legs, stands upright and has some sort of head on the end of their necks. Jawa's are humanoid. Hutts are not.
