Product: Microsoft Intellimouse Optical

Problem: While single clicking, the mouse will sometimes randomly double-click at it's own will, usually extremely-superman fast. It's a total random thing, but frequently (as in the past hour) it's doing it with every other click.

Help?

(p.s. I like this mouse, so fark off with the comments about "microsoft sucks" or "buy logitec.." because I know someone will. plz kthnx.)

Possibly check to see if there are updated drivers for it. Given that it's a Microsoft product, it should be available through Windows Update, but perhaps just search their site for stuff related to that mouse.

If no new drivers are available, try to uninstall/reinstall the current ones.

Heh, finally a question I can help with! Or, at least I could until Fig said exactly what I was going to. I work at OfficeMax and sell these things and all...

Microsoft makes some of the best optical mice, and I truly do prefer them over Logitech. I'm currently using a Microsoft cordless Intellimouse optical right now.

But, yeah, do the driver reinstall, and also check for Windows update patches. And I must say that this is a problem I have not encountered, or had a customer complain to me about yet, so, hopefully it's just a minor glitch that can be fixed with an update.

Microsoft licence themselves to damn good hardware. Software may be iffy, but hardware almost always pwns. Microsoft Optical Mouse for me too, wont use anything else.

This I do not believe is a driver issue. I think it is a hardware fault, where the contacts are not quite right. I had exactly the same issue about two months ago. I solved it by beating the living &%^()^!!! out of the mouse.

It worked.

Unfortunantly, the above is a true story and I would not recommend it. But if your willing and absolve me of responsibility of damaging your mouse, the place to hit is with a fist on the left button several times.

And Zasz, I hope you know I was joking.

Lie detector test failed! ;)

PS: I have this kind of mouse. Never had any problems with it, and since it's PnP my first thought would have been to check for issues with the mouse itself rather than driver software.
