I have a fealing that the Ion propultion system they are using are not as small at that of the TIE Fighters. But COOL! I hope it works out in the long run!

I knew about this (the ion propultion system) waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when it was in it's development stages, mostly due to the fact my dad works for the company that was developing it.

I got to actually see it, and it's fairly big. But this was several years ago... I'd say maybe 10 to 15 years ago or so, so it's very possible they've perfected it's size.

Computers used to be the size of a house and now look at them - i have no worries that this engine will decrease in size as time goes by

Ion propulsion has been the proposed engine choice for a future manned mission to Mars. Provided, of course, it can be successfully scaled in the desired time frame.
