As many know, we switched host servers a couple of nights ago and I would like to ask a few questions.

Was the move any inconvenience to you? If so, how?

If you were inconvenienced, what do you think could be done if such a thing were to happen again in the future, to help minimize the inconvenience?

Is the domain name http://sw-fans.net working for you and bringing you here?

only http://www.sw-fans.net brings me here. The others bring me to the message about the host change and I have to click the link.

Well, for me it was more a surprise that there was something going on. And it was no inconvenience at all.

I use the last link to get here. :)

Originally only www.sw-fans.net would work for me, but I checked the others over the course of the afternoon (and just now checked them again) and they all seem to be functioning properly.

The move was a surprise and it would've been nice to get a little more notice of it, but I wasn't particularly bothered by it and felt it didn't interrupt a signficant opportunity to post, etc.

FYI for non techs - Name address changes propogate across the Internet, much like ripples in a pond. 24 hours is the standard change time across the globe.

Ogre, remeber that truly bizarre routing problem I was having? It turned back up last night. Not sure the situation as I'm not at home, but there does definatly seem somethign odd how the propagations are being done across the pond. Right now I'm sitting practically on the Aust border router, www.sw-fans.net works, sw-fans.net works, other URL's have not propogated. They are all going back to the old server.

10 pm is the major DNS propogation updates in Aust, so I'll hang tight till then

It might help if everyone running xp/2k performed a DNS flush

start -> run: "ipconfig /flushdns"

Also: Earthlink customers should be good to go.

The only thing inconvenient for me is that my theme cannot be reset... I am stuck viewing in Geonosis style and I really want default. :(

Its weird....sometimes they've all worked, sometimes none of them work, sometimes some of them work. Im on windows 98 though, and my internet provider can be funny sometimes, so i dunno.

Aust DNS on the Optus side is now okay. Telstra side is still waiting to update, but looks like it's doing what it's supposed to

I see webbots crawling the site again, so I am inclined to believe that DNS propogation is going quite well. For anyone having problems with any of the URLs, it should just be a matter of hours for them to start working correctly.

I get redirected to the message whenever I click on any of the links, then I have to click the link to get on here.

Also I can't active my account for my new character I registered because of that.

Everything else works fine though.
