View Full Version : Suggestions for naming the upgraded account

I think we all agree we don't want to follow ezcrap, so let's have some suggestions/names for the upgraded account, rather than "gold".

And - I say - let's make it Star Wars specific. The upgraded name has to be cool, but can't demean the general membership accounts.

In which case, I do not have a suggestion.

If non-Star Wars specific, my suggestions are:

SWFans Investor
SWFans contributor

What if it is a symbol rather than a name. 'Cause with all the CTs and such, maybe a symbol is the best thing to do.

In this case, (and I am borrowing this from Daiq's idea in the other thread) how 'bout a lightsaber (similar to the new topic saber - I'm in the Imperial style), and the poster can choose the color from blue, green, red, yellow, orange, pink, purple, or white.

What do you think? Have other suggestions?

I like the idea of it being SW-y, as opposed to a generic word. However, I can sort of see a problem with a SW-y name, as then people might be thought to be Mods by new posters. I like your idea from Daiq's idea of a lightsabre or something similar.

A lightsaber with "SWFans Paid Member" on it? I'm being serious in case ppl think I'm joking.

That sounds good. At least then people know what it means, as opposed to having something SWish, which might confuse some people?

It would need to be quite small so as not to impact people using the Text Based styles.

If you took a yog style tiny sabre, and a little glowy word saying "Paid", I'd assume that wouldnt do much size-wise.

The small saber icon and just plain text next to it tha says "Contributor" sounds better than "Paid" or a glowing word to me.

I felt it would be cheesy to try and make something SW fit the idea. The account is for paid members, and lightsabers are one of the trademarks of the genre everyone recognizes on sight. If someone can come up with a cool title, more power to them, but I think direct and simple is the way to go.

Incidentally, Ogre, would it be easy to make a paid membership forum that is visible to the general public but where only paid members can post (like a Usergroup) in order to demonstrate some of the features of becoming a paid member? I think if people can see the effect upgrading has to their account, they will be more likely to buy in.

I think its possible, but I'll have to look into it more.

Something like this? (can be made transparent and different color themes if its interesting to try out)

I like the bottom one alot, and yes we would need one that would go with the light styles and one that goes with dark styles. Transparaent would be good, one with white text one with black text.

Zeke said in another thread that he couldn't see his GJO hosted sig. I can see these images and Zeke's sig so...

Did you disable hotlinking and not cover all the fans URLs as tursted Yog?

IE won't load it for me, but Moz will and I can ping gjo.com just dandy.

EDIT: and I am also able to load the mainpage in Moz (something not in cache)

>_< :x

I have no idea what is wrong, but some files seem to load, others don't

I just checked my host's server status tracker. Some servers appears to be online, others are not. Looks pretty major. Perhaps it is some sort of DNS routing problem.

Those images will be used as custom titles for all SWFans.Net Forums Supporter accounts. It will display under the usernames of those who have upgraded their account. (the stars will, remian too) It will also act as a quick link to the Supporter upgrade form, which I am currently developing. :)
