View Full Version : Looking to hire. (a bounty hunter please)
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 10:54:34 AM
Gareth wrinkles his nose slightly as he steps into the bar. Smoke, rude jokes, drinks are in abundance here. But this is where he has learned that he could get ahold of a bounty hunter or two.
A slight smile touches his mouth as he thinks of what he shall do. Soon. Soon, she shall pay for leaving.
A person bumps into him. He grabs them by the neck and throws them backwards, away from him, causing that person to land on there back on a table.
He makes his way to the bar and leaves word with the bartender that he wishes a bounty hunter which is skilled before he makes his way to a back booth where he sits down with no drink.

"Now that is a tall glass of angst for you."
Costello commented off-handedly, but within earshot of the aggressive newcomer.
"Stylish, yes...but indiscriminate. You'd have to be a mad dog off the chain to throw a lady down like that. Or you'd be putting up a front."
Lord Gareth

Gareth takes in the comment from the unknown person and says nothing for several minutes.
"You a bounty hunter?"
Is all he says to the person, and without even turning to face him.

Costello takes a seat across from the man.
"Not exactly. I'm a specialist. Wet work, but I'm not cheap, and you'll need a referral. But lets not talk business right now."
He reaches for a menu.
"I tell you what, though. If you like Twi'leki food, you've come to the right place. Me, I can't get enough. I'm not a vegetarian or anything, but I have my moments. Spicy mushroom skewers are where it's at."
Costello thumbed through the menu.
"Soup's good too. Real healthy stuff."

Gareth narrows his eyes slightly as the man sits down across from him.
"I'm here for business. Not pleasure.
And I don't care if a person is cheap to hire. If they're expensive, then they're good and if they aren't good, then I don't pay.
And no, I don't like Twi'leki food."

"The hell you say?"
Costello's eyes widened ever-so slightly. He slowly put the menu down.
"I want to know something about my would-be employer. I'd like to get to know them before discussing the gory details. Maybe its just the way I was brought up, but you don't discuss business at the table. You don't like that? There are plenty of others more inept than myself. So if you want to play ball, order some damn chicken fingers or something, and take a load off."
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 11:30:00 AM
Gareth smiles ever so slightly.
"I would order something, but I ate just before I came here. But I'll just go for an ale if you're insistent that I order something. Besides, I don't trust food that is served in bars like this."
Gareth leans up against the back of the booth seat and looks the guy over.
"And I like to know something about those that I might hire. So we're even."

"Name's Mr. Diamond. Aside from the boring details of my part-time job, I do volunteer work at the local library, and coach a little-league smashball team. There ain't a Mrs. Diamond, so I spend my time coaching the kids. Got my boys to the league playoffs last year. You like smashball?"
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 11:39:30 AM
"No. Smashball is a waste of time."
Gareth frowns slightly since he wishes to find a person to do his job and then leave. Not make small talk with a person who may not take the job.

"Everybody needs some extracurriculars. Life's boring if you stick to that Point A - Point B crap. Besides, you really get to see your investment of time and effort pay off. Those boys look up to you something fierce."
The mushroom skewers and ale arrived, and Costello worked on his meal, picking a bit of spicy mushroom off a skewer.
"So, what do you do for R&R?"
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 11:46:26 AM
"I read and no, I'm not going to say what I read. My time is spent teaching my students to use their gifts so that they are not letting them go to waste."
Gareth doesn't even go to touch the ale.

"Reading, huh. Thats great."
Costello continued to eat and chat.
"You don't see many avid readers these days. Everybody wants everything now, now, now. Instant gratification BS, and all. Holomovies, email, etc. Sometimes, you gotta get your jollies by flipping a few pages. For me, I juggle my time between the old classics, and dimestore comics. Great way to pass a rainy day."
He glanced Gareth over.
"You seem like one of them free spirit types...kind of folks who are into that Force business. Right?"
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 11:55:17 AM
"The Force business as you put it is a way of life. And none are a free spirit."
Gareth rolls his eyes, starting to get rather impatient with this small talk.

"Hey, I can dig. I've always respected people with an open mind to spirituality. I'd like to think there's something special inside us that sets us apart from everything around us. Something that we can use to make us all better people."
Costello smiled, and finished his skewers, dabbing at his face with a napkin.
"Mmm-mmm. You really missed out. Oh well."
Leaning forward, Costello pulled a spare napkin from the dispenser. He then pulled a pen from his suit, and slid both to Gareth.
"Alright. I suppose we've dispensed enough pleasantries. Now, as I said before, my services don't come cheap, and they aren't for just anybody. If you've got a referral, go ahead and write the name down on that napkin."
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 12:05:11 PM
"Any referrels I'd have would be unknown to you. And I don't care for cheap when it comes to something as important as this."
Gareth does glance down at the pen and napkin for a brief second before looking back up at the person who he's talking with.

"There's two names I'm looking for. Either one will do. Without one of those names, we don't play ball. Sorry, but that's the house rules. I'm part of a franchise, I guess you could say."
Lord Gareth
Oct 21st, 2003, 12:14:45 PM
"Then if you do not wish my job, then you can get up and leave and let me get on with my business here in hopes that I may be able to get myself home and back to my students."
Gareth crosses his arms and frowns.
"And I don't have referrels to give to anybody."

"Then there isn't anything else to say."
Costello rose from his seat, and left Gareth to himself.

"Excuse me sirs..." The waiter placed two mugs of ale on the table ... "Compliments of that Man over there..." He points.
Mockadane appeared to be sitting alone smiling over at the conversation the two had.
Scratching a K-9 under the chin, that was seated at his side, The dog gave a Mocking look at the two, as he spoke quietly to him. The looks of the two were as expected ... but Mockadane had more than one agenda this night.... Extra work could proove usefull were his thoughts.

Gareth makes no comments as the mugs of ale are placed on the table. He gives no reaction about the ale, seeing as how he hasn't even touched the one that was on the table first. It's his policy to not mix business and pleasure, and drinking to him is pleasure. He stands with barely a nod to the waiter and walks over to Mockadane.
"Interested in a job?"
Gareth looks down at the seated man since he himself hasn't seated himself yet.
Mockadane
Oct 28th, 2003, 12:46:32 AM
"Well know ... are we interested in a job?" Mockaane looked precariosly at dog as the K-9 sniffed in the vacinity of the newcomer. With no dicernable ear twitches or growls, he looks back up at the man...
"Im always interested in work."
Looking about the tavern at the motley crew that was gathered here... nobody of disernable skills were present, none that stuck out in his mind anyways.
"Have a seat!" The big man motioned to a chair near himself... "Lets talk buisness!"
Lord Gareth
Oct 28th, 2003, 09:09:25 AM
Gareth sits down, no relief visible that here's someone who's interested in a job. The sooner he can get out of here, the better.
"I need a person brought to my home. They backed out of an agreement, a promise, and I can't allow that.
The job is to bring this person to my home alive."
Mockadane
Oct 29th, 2003, 11:53:26 PM
"Well now... depending upon their status and stature, and who it is your speaking of will determine the price of my services!"
Mockadane eyed the man wistfully.
"And I also factor in delivery point as a side bonus!" The Big Man watched for signs of hesitation from this individual.

Gareth nods his head slightly, a slight smile on his face.
"Her name is Ebony. She's a Jedi Padawan of the Greater Jedi Order."
Gareth speaks in a quiet voice.
"I do not care what the cost is, I'm willing to pay it.
When she learns a new skill, she does her best to perfect it before moving onto something else if at all possible."
Gareth keeps his gaze on Mockadane as he speaks to him, watching him for any non-verbal responce.

"What if This meeting place is somewhere that I arrange... would that be suitable for you?"
Mockadane has a sincere smile while allowing The K - 9 to lick from his glass.
Lord Gareth
Nov 15th, 2003, 11:28:10 AM
"Yes, that is suitable to me. Are you willing to take the job?"
Gareth replys calmly.

Riffleing through a small satchel, Mockadane places a data card on the table, in front of Gareth. "This is a pruchase order for three TIE Defenders. It requires your personal coding and we have a deal."
Mockadane smiles at the man..."All pretences aside, the terms we agreed upon will be fulfilled once you have signed this document."
The Bounty Hunter patiently awaits the signature of Lord Gareth.

Gareth is slightly suprised when the form is presented, but he did say he was willing to pay any price. And he is willing. He signs the order, after reading it, satisfied that the job will be done. And properly as well.
"Pleasure doing business. And I look forward to when you notify me that you have her so I can get her."
