The head accountant of the Sector Rangers, a privately owned and operated law enforcement agency centered in the Core, walked briskly down the carpeted hallway. Sasseeri wasn't there, because it was the weekend. Sasseeri had things to do.

Saarrreeaa had things to do, too.

She keyed in the access code to a room of the previous cycle's records, and let herself in, closing the door behind her.

Saa popped open a file cabinet, pulling out the drawer and shuffling through the flimsies and datapads held within. Ah... She found what she was looking for.

It wasn't really betraying her aunt. It was more like...just in case. Saa tucked the datapad into her satchel, and carefully returned the record room to it's previous appearance. A few more steps... and she let herself out, letting the door lock behind her.

The Cizerack purred a little tune as she walked back down the hallway to her office.

Sasseeri stalked up the hallway towards her office, furious that of all days, it was a Saturday and she had business to take care of. She nearly ran into Saarrreeaa, the mousy accountant, and both females stopped momentarily. "Saarrrrrrrrreeaa...succh dedjicatjion to yourrr job these days."

Ah, she was her niece, as well. Not just an accountant. Frrrell that. Sass smiled nastily, as she was wont to do around Saa.

Krrrasssssst! What was she doing here? The satchel around her shoulders seemed to get heavier, as though the CEO and Vigo would be able to see right through it. "Sssasssssseerrrji. jI djidn't expect to sssee jyou todajy... A new sssecurrrjitjy account jussst come thrrrough?"

Don't tell her you didn't expect to see her! She'll know! Saa you idiot.

She took in the satchel and the direction of Saa's walk. "Securrrjity account. No, of courrrse not. I lost a few rrrunnerrrs over Selonjia. The so-called Sjith Orrrderrr djiscoverrred thejirrr carrrgo. jI doubt therrre's anythjing left."

Saa shook her head. "Thossse poorrr pjilotsss."

She looked offended. "The pjilots deserrrved thejirrr fate, forrr bejing caught. jI meant the carrrgo. Supplyjing rrrevolutjijons jis expensjive, and even morrre so when the crrrates arrre confjiscated." Sass looked at her chrono. "jI have to ...well neverrr mjind the detajils. jI'll have to see you on Monday for a meetjing now. Re-allocatjing funds forrr morrre pjilots."

Saa nodded, and then blinked as Sasseeri stared closely at her eyes. "Arrre you ljistenjing to me? Saa?"

"jI'm sssorrrrrrjy, Sssassssss, jI'm ssstjill trrrjyjing to worrrk out the kjinksss jin the ssshuffljing of crrredjitsss between the legal and the jillegal. Barrrnabjy wasss thrrrowjing a fjit about hjisss take frrrom the lassst job, but jit was perrrfectljy fjigurrred, down to the lassst chjit. jI sssuppossse that -"

Sasseeri hissed, her ears flattening. "Barrrnaby betterrr watch hjis back. jIts only because of my good grrraces he even got a bjid in that operrratjion." Saa nodded, dutifully, and her half-breen aunt added, as an aside to herself, "jI thjink jit's tjime to thrrrow the Watch a bone."

She looked back up at Saa, who was waiting patiently to be excused. "Go on wjith whateverrr you werrre dojing. jI'll see you on Monday. Don't forrrget you leave Tuesday for ShadowFaene Forrrtrrress."

As jif jI could. Saa refrained from speaking, merely nodding. Two sets of heels walked away from each other, carrying their owners to their respective offices. Their doors closed with gentle swishes.

Saa sat behind her desk, laden with flimsies and accounting datapads, shaking quietly. If only she knew what her niece was planning. Sass would rip her throat out herself, forget about getting an assassin to take her out.

After a few minutes Saarrreeaa pulled the datapad out of her satchel and started transferring the information onto a new pad.

She entered her office, paused for fifteen seconds to allow Saarrreeaa time to walk down the hall and out of sight, and then exited once more.

Her niece was many things, and conniving was one of them. However, she also wasn't very good at covering her tracks. She'd been walking towards her office, that much was true. She just hadn't been walking away from anywhere she usually was.

Sasseeri stepped out into the hall after removing her heeled shoes, and padded to the spot where she'd run into Saarrreeaa. Then she swiveled her ears around a bit and sniffed a few times. There was a T intersection with another hall just a few yards back, in the direction the younger female had been walking from. The Vigo walked in that direction, and inhaled deeply at the intersection. Yes.

She walked down the new hallway, and found herself facing a few different doors. Suspicion led her to a certain door, and she carefully entered the code and opened it. Stepping inside, the door closed silently behind her.

Saa unplugged the two datapads, and tucked them both into the satchel. One went in an inner pocket, and the original was slipped into a secure outer pocket. She shuffled a few papers around, picked a few at random and stuck those in the satchel as well.

Slinging it over her shoulder once more, the petite Cizerack carefully locked up her office for the rest of the weekend. Walking through the hall, back towards the record rooms, she was grateful for the carpet to mask the sound of her footsteps. Saa turned a few corners, and stopped outside the door of the room, pausing to listen for a moment before tapping in the access code.

There wasn't a damn thing wrong with this room. Except for the fact it hadn't been dusted in several months. Sasseeri trailed a finger through the dirt that resided on top of a file cabinet, and walked along the rows of files. She was in the room that contained most of the files from the previous cycle. It had been a good year.

The files were all clean. These were Sector Ranger files, ready to be procured should the Watch need them for any reason. Clean, figuratively, that is. They were all pretty frelling dusty. Sasseeri's ears twitched, and she looked towards the door, sliding carefully out of sight in the darkened room.

The door slid open on well maintained mechanisms, and Saarrreeaa stepped through, her heels clicking slightly on the polished tile floor. She walked towards the back of the room, paying no attention to the dust on the cabinets nearest to her.

The dust did irritate her nose, however. Saa stifled a sneeze, and continued on towards her destination in the back of the room.
