There is a story behind this pic.

I was very tired and hitting on my bros girlfriend. But that's not the beauty behind this picture. This day was totally great.

I'd gone to the beach with my board. I was out on my ace and the water was lekker warm, so I was amped. It was later on in the afternoon and the waves were awesome and then this agro came into the water at the same time as this killer wave came. The lip of the wave totally axed me, I lost my shorts and everything. It was so cool, I got so turned around that I didn't know which way was up. I almost drowned. Sort of awed me.

Anyway, the point is my brother bought a bunch of beer to celebrate. Cheers.

Dude, that's a righteous picture -- and I totally know what you mean. I surf a bit (when I travel to Florida) but the main draw for me there are the skateparks. I'm a skater but I try to ride the H2O when I can. It's pretty awesome -- no feeling like it except for pulling an inverted rocket grab over an impossible gap. Awesome stuff, man.

Props to you for doing what you love. And yeah, we speak Pidgeon too -- keep it real, bro. :)

I've been windsurfing in France before and I took to that really well and loved it, I'm completely at home in the water and have been all my life thanks to my history of competitive swimming. I'm missing that now. But I could imagine I'd love to surf, I've got decent balance so if the Mersey ever gets some impressive wavage then I'll be sure to grab a board and go for it. :D

To give you some idea how brutally quick the XT is, it will give the new GTO more than just a serious fright. The XT will beat it if the GTO driver aint caning it to the max. The XT also has two very decent kills to it's name now. More will be racked up by the 'family' wagon that rips the quarter mile in 13.9. Marcus is very, very happy. The XT is bloody brilliant.

The end of the hunt. We finished with about 30 ducks, theres four of them. Bro on left, me on the right. I really lliked this picture but the glare was so bad from the sun I just made it B&W rather than fooling around with it.

Before I get into this, here is the general directory link (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/) to the LAN party pictures for those of you who want to skip the short description I'm about to post. This listing contains most of the good pictures, however there are others that I will be uploading soon that aren't quite as good if you're really interested.

Our annual LAN party was first held in 2001, although I wasn't aware of it at the time and didn't go. However, my friend Jeremy (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/Jeremy.jpg) who I work with mentioned it to me in 2002 and I finagled my finances so I could afford to be there for a few days. This year, I was able to afford to be down at Nags Head, NC for the entire week. The beach was empty and the water too cold to swim in, but that was okay because it meant no one was around at 2 AM to hear us swearing loudly during our games.

We reserved a house based on predictions of 10 or 11 attendees, but that whittled down to 9 since some people couldn't go at the last minute. I ended up sharing a room (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/room.jpg) with Jeremy, and this room had one bunk bed and one twin bed. He took the twin, I took the bunk. (and yeah, I slept in both the top and bottom bunks, just because I could :))

The house had a pool table (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/pooltable1.jpg) (which we used) and a hottub (which we didn't). We spent most of our time on the third floor, where the kitchen (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/kitchen.jpg) and the main room were.

Now, for some introductions.

Picture 1 (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/mekyle.jpg): Here we see myself (aka SpoonMan) and Kyle (Munson) on the first day. We both look like we've been on the road for several hours and, yes, we had been.

Picture 2 (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/guys.jpg): Here we see Jeremy (Unafragger), Kyle, and Curt (Phanman). Jeremy's hooded sweatshirt is actually red, but my camera sucks.

Picture 3 (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/guys2.jpg): From left to right, Crane (butanebob), Erik (JackQDeezn), Vince (Mr 007), and Ford (<-Voltron->).

Picture 4 (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/chillin.jpg): Curt is on the left, Crane is on the right, and in the middle is this year's newcomer Jeff (Smeagol). Vince's head is also in the picture. :)

Picture 5 (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/nonhell2.jpg): And finally, one last picture of yours truly when I didn't look half dead. The shirt is also supposed to be red, but once again my camera decided it needed to suck.

It was myself, Kyle, Jeremy, and Crane against Erik, Vince, Ford, Curt, and Jeff. The game of the session: Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. It's fun as hell. Seriously.

Of course we didn't just game on the PC. We (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/monkeyball.jpg) also played Monkey Ball 2 (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/monkeyball2.jpg) for the GameCube as a regular party game when we needed a break from the more intense stuff, like Jedi Academy multiplayer, Quake 3 ctf, Unreal Tournament, and WarCraft III.

We also had showings of Army of Darkness (a cult classic starring Bruce Campbell, for those of you not familiar) and several old television episodes from shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021.

The total cost of the venture was 170 bucks including a week's worth of food. Erik and Vince were our resident chefs and they made such tasty dishes as JackQChicken (chicken wrapped in bacon slices and covered in barbecue sauce), crab cakes and fried shrimp, and even a large ham (http://panic.hopto.org/swf/tondry/LANparty03/ham.jpg) , seen here soaking in preparation for being cooked. (It was very salty, but still decent ham)

You don't go to the beach without actually physically going to the darn beach. Although I have no pictures of the windswept and chilly night before we left, 7 of us took a walk down to the oceanside shore and took in the scenery. I wore a pair of shades going to the beach, which sounds strange until you realize that I was walking into windblown sand that will easily stick to my contacts and itch like crazy. No, fools, I did not wear them walking back. It was night!

I had a great time. It was as much a chance to get away from our regular mundane lives as an opportunity to game with a bunch of decent people. We hope to do it again next year. Circumstance may intervene, but darned if we all don't have our fingers crossed!

Credit for these pictures goes to both myself and my friend Jeremy who also had a digital camera that was much better than mine. Several of the pictures he took I do not yet have, so I will be updating the directory with those in the next couple days. I might edit this post with a few links to better pictures, because some of my lousy cam pictures don't do their participants justice.

Either way, the focus isn't really on the photos themselves, it's on the people, the place, and the events.

Bloody Logitech. But I bought it because it would serve it's purpose until something better could be afforded. The camera is really meant to be used as a webcam at 320x240. Trying to get anything larger or with more resolution sacrifices picture quality.

I got a corset!! Sort of. It mostly just looks like one. It won't reduce my waist to 20 inches. But it was only $30. I'm pretty happy with that, compared to how much a real one costs.
