The pale blue orb of Asmeru lay silent in space, streaks of cloud ran across the sphere as morning broke on the morning waves that lapped the shores of the central continent.

On this shoreline a few scantily clad purple hued bipeds scavenged along the sandline. Beyond the shoreline small plastoid structures stood like pimples on the land. They gathered the non-moving forms of trilobites that were dotted over the glistening sand. Over them stood a larger biped, its head was square-ish, narrow green eyes stared out from under a protruding brow. In the bipeds short fingers a blaster rifle poked its muzzle threateningly.

This was one of the many native Asmeru settlements, but they had stayed insolationist and at a pre-spaceflight culture. The relatively new colonists were not welcome. Now, these purple skinned natives had converged into large groups and were attacking the settlements of the colonists. These creatures were intelligent however and learnt quickly. The situation ahd become so bad with savages attacking with near impunity that the administrators for the Imperial garrison to help. The base commander had requested assistance so now a crack troop had been sent out to Asmeru.

The 145th Division of the Imperial Army Mobile Infantry had been dispatched to assist in the supression of the widespread alien menace.

They had several clear objectives;

1. Secure spaceports and sizeable settlements.
2. Capture or kill the leader of the aliens
3. Assist local millitas (mostly human colonists)
4. Raise enemy settelments to the ground.

In addition to the division of Mobile Infantry there are currently 15,000 Imperial Army regulars stationed on Asmeru around the main settlement of Hart Spaceport and the Imperial Garrison.

Colonel Danik Drayton had overall command of this mission, it was a matter of pride to the Sovereignty.
By now, the Imperial bulk carrier Firebrand had arrived at the planet with the 145th already being dispatched in drop ships to the surface of Asmeru.

As the Firebrand began to disappear from view, Colonel Drayton turned away from the view port. He turned to Major Gratonor, smiled at him and began to talk about their mission.

“We need to move fast and hunt down the natives. If any significant number of them get away they could kill every colonist in the path of their retreat. My plan is that we leave the 15,000 regulars at Hart spaceport so we have a strong reserve. I want a company to all the major settlements; the remaining villages will be covered by patrols. All training officers can be sent with an escort to train and assist the militias. The rest of us shall sweep through the enemy settlements destroying them as we go. I shall brief the battalion commanders when we are on the ground.

Danik stepped out of the drop ship and onto firm ground again; he surveyed to land around him. He took a long, deep breath of fresh air. A trooper ran up to him. “ No sign of enemy activity yet Sir.” Danik replied. “ Thank you, be sure to inform me of any change in the situation.” The man moved quickly off again. He now needed to get things organised.

As the Imperial scouts performed recon around their landing area, they were to recive their first taste of Asmeru hostility.

Several Asmeru scouts had witnessed the Imperial landing craft and had fed the news back via specialy trained Jiwa birds. The birds had been trained to carry color coded tags which were used by the Asmeru to indicate certain situations. It greatly enhanced their communication abilities, although not as efficent as comlinks they enabled Asmeru ground forces to co-ordinate attacks and establish clear pictures of the battlefield.

Now, as the Imperials were disembarking and establishing a perimeter, the Asmeru troops, wearing hardened bone armour shells and armed with assorted blaster weapons, crossbows, carbines and other captured weapons moved silently toward the Imperial positions. With them were large ballistas (http://myimgs.com/data/t1000/b.JPG) and mortars.

The Imperial troops were on gaurd but the mortars fell from seemingly nowhere. Ballista bolts flew into the the few dropships left disembarking the company of AT-PTs and Chariot assault LAV's. The huge tension of the cables that drew back the bolts sent them hurtling into ships, crushing durasteel like paper.

The Asmeru troops threw themselves out of the foliage, screaming and yelling, weapons opening up. The Asmeru were on the offensive

The natives came from nowhere; they were so many of them. It was a terrible sight to behold. This wasn’t what anyone had expected. The Imperial soldiers had been caught off guard, every single one of them. Luckily the enemys fire was wild and undisciplined. Shots from their long-range weaponry came in causing havoc though. Men began to fire, covering the E-web blaster teams that had begun to set up. The natives charged on, stopping only when they got hit. They swarmed through the lines of infantry. People ran through the smoke and dust firing as they went. Close combat soon followed with all formation gone they had no choice. Colonel Drayton was stunned at the speed of their attack. A native came towards him and raised his weapon. He had no chance to fire though as a trooper swung his rifle into its side. Danik nodded to the man as he turned to fire at another of his foe. :shootin

The Imperials were pinned down and engaged in bitter hand to hand fighting with the Asmeru. From long scabbards held across their backs, the natives drew long spiked clubs which they weilded with great accuracy, aiming for the weak points in the Mobile Infantrymans armour. Yet the E-Webs were comming into effect, mowing down the second wave of natives.

Then, from around the landing area came a familiar noise. Blaster fire errupted from behind the Asmeru. The hills surrounding the Imperials had been chosen by the natives upon which to munt their heavy weapons. Now millitia teams of colonists had seen the Imperials landing and launched an attack on the Asmeru positions. The natives, caught unawares by the millitia, dispersed howling into the undergrowth and craggy hills around the Imperials.

The millitia moved cautiously toward the Imperials, finishing off any Asmeru who still drew breath. The battle had turned. In the eyes of the humans who now congregated with the 145th, there was a new hope.

The battle was over, but it would be the first of many. Though the Asmeru had had severe losses inflicted upon them, the Empire had not gone unscathed. It had been a hard lesson in the values of recon. Danik had recieved news that the men ordered to secure the towns were on their way to their objectives. One of the columns had been ambushed and cut to peices. This news had hit home the message that the Asmeru were not a disorganised rable.
Colonel Drayton was in his HQ looking over maps and intel reports with his staff. " We need some prisoners. They may have information on their leader. I want speeder bikes sent out to find the nearest enemy position. Once that is done we can get to down to buisness." Once they had the Asmeru scum in their hands they would have an advantage.

The Imperial scouts soon discovered that the Asmeru were not so easy to find. Even with scanners and, as the night drew in, infa red, no sign of the Asmeru troops in the area could be found save for one or two walking wounded and a dozen prisoners of the previous battle.

However, a large Asmeru settlement lay nearby and now the defending Asmeru had been drawn out and exterminated, there was practicaly no resistance to the advancing Imperials. In the settlement itself, surrounded by rocky outcrops, small plastoid structures stood with native females and young gathered around them.

A rumour went through the natives, however, they were not abandoned. A large male with the distinctive bone headress led several of the natives toward the recon units before calling out in basic; "So you have come to destroy our homes humans?"

Running from the bushes, several young natives ran up to the Imperial before screaming and pulling a chord wrapped around them. Grape shot ripped out from their loose outfits, killing the young Asmeru but also ripping into the Imperial Infantry.

Major Gratonor called out to his men.“ Hold your fire!” He ran to the front of the column and spoke to the Asmeru who had spoken in basic. “ If you come forward so we can question you, we will spare your peoples lives.” The native walked towards them. Everyone was on the alert for any more suicide bombers. When he reached the Major, a trooper grabbed him. “ Fire!” The soldiers opened up on the settlement. Asmeru ran frantically for cover but without a hope. They were being cut down. Screaming filled the air. It was a massacre. When the firing stopped, buildings were ablaze, bodies littered the ground. “ Take him back for interrogation.” The Asmeru man was dragged off. He didn’t put up a struggle. He was shaking, his eyes wide and full of tears.

The 145th had exterminated the Asmeru settlement, ending the reign of terror over the colonists who lived nearby.

Now the outnumbered Imperial garrison had sent word that yet another large group of Asmeru had laid seige to the principal spaceport of Asmeru, Hart spaceport.

The beleaugered garrison had held off the assault of the natives for two weeks but now with the massive pressure exerted by the natives to take the city they had fallen back in a loose semi circle around the landing areas, government center and garrison. A lone scout trooper had gotten past the Asmeru cordon to deliver the message to Colonel Drayton. The com relay in the city was in enemy hands, therefore outside communication was near impossible.

Now the decision lay with the Colonel, to press on and relive Hart spaceport or to try to cut off the retreating Asmeru before they could re-group.

The scout stood in the Imperial tempory HQ in one the colonists prefabs. He had a shattered arm from the blow of an Asmeru club but otherwise was in good condition. The Imperial troops in Hart were significantly worse off, the man reported. The Asmeru had also dug long tunnels into the city, using them to flank Imperial positions and suprise the defenders. The Imperial troops were in a bad way but the women and children colonists were in desperate need of medical attention.

The decision now lay with the commander of the 145th.

Three drop ships sped across the barren land with the sun glinting off the view ports. They carried a precious cargo, the primary reinforcements for the beleaguered garrison at Hart Spaceport. Their destination was the landing ground. As they flew low over the settlement, they drew fire from the Asmeru. The ships rocked as blasts hit them. The men inside were fresh from the 154ths reserve. They looked nervously at each other not knowing what lay ahead.
The drop ships came in to land on the debris littered field. An Asmeru attack was underway on the far side of the landing ground. They charged only to be fired upon and killed. The town was in ruins. Its people had been evacuated. Private Clantay dived as a mortar round came in. The dirt covered him from head to foot. This was his first time in combat. “Got to find cover,” he said to himself as he stood up and began to run.

Hart spaceport was under seige. The spaceport was based on an archipelago, with the one landward enterance being blocked by the Asmeru. The Asmeru had, over time, developed some excellent skills with slug throwers. The Asmeru snipers had positioned themselves on the roof of the Hart museum, one of the largest structures on the planet. From a height of about 400ft they had a clear view of their surroundings.

The Asmeru now began systematic wave attacks. The aliens, standing almost shoulder to shoulder and screaming curses, marched on the Imperial lines, every Asmeru who fell was replaced from behind with another. The Imperials however, had been defending against these attacks for over a month now. They laid down heavy covering fire from their dug in positions amongst the ruined buildings with varying success.

On one part of the defensive line, the Asmeru broke through, using the aid of a drainage pipe to crawl beneath the defenders. Pouring out of the orifice, the purple hued natives used their varied weapons to beat back the weakened Millitia who held the line...

Major Gratanor had been dropped in with the reinforcments two days ago. Since then he had been in the govornment center, trying to establish communications with the outside world. Still nothing.
On the other side of town B Company of the 1st Batalion was trapped. They were down to 36 men and 2 AT-STs. They now charged from their positions, trying to break out. This was their only chance.

The Asmeru had been caught unawares by the counter attack. The Imperials used cover well, ducking and weaving through the ruined streets and firing sparingly but accurately. The Asmeru answered by firing ballistas at the AT-ST walkers that strode over the rubble. The ballistas themselves were caught by glancing cannon fire from the walkers, rendering them inoperable. The Imperials were breaking out succesfully. The Asmeru fell back with the sheer force of the Imperials, abandoning positions and racing for cover.

Tear rubbed his neck sorely as his boot thumped over the durasteel floor plating of the armored transport. I glanced out of the small view port in the side of the transport leaning an arm above the window to prop myself up as I continued to work the kinks out of the back of my neck with my free hand. Watching the soft blur of trees and foliage melding together into a sort constant green ocean from the speed of our travel.

“INCOMING!!” A shout rang out though the transport as it was rocked violently.

I was weightless for mere seconds as I was thrown against the opposite wall of the transport, slamming me head and shoulder first into the dura steel plating.

“Sir!? Are you alright?” A trooper stoodover me, his image spinning around in a circle.

“Why are you spinning?” I asked with curious yet stern, serious voice while trying to sit up.

“Spinning?” The trooper asked dumbfounded at my question as he helped me to my feet. Shrugging my question off as he explained to me what had happened. “The transport was hit by a balista missle.Large wooden spears, the size of trees mostly. The natives like to fire them at passing vessels. Usually we are moving to fast to get hit but I guess this time we werent so lucky.”

“I can see that.” I growled, running a hand over the back of my head sorely. "damage?"

“All systems operational…although there will be a big dent to pound out of the hull once we get to base.”

A grin creased my lips with a sort of uneasy relief as I glanced out the window again. “E.t.a.?”

“We are arriving now, sir” The trooper responded confidently as he took a seat and buckled himself in.

The green blur reverted back into the detailed forest it was before the high-speed flight. The head quarters of Danik Drayton, Colonel Danik Drayton, Tear corrected himself as the transport floated down.

The metallic door slid open smoothly as Tear stepped out clad in black battle armor. The armor was built specifically for covert operations, keeping trim to the body while shoulder and body joints remained incredibly flexible and strong. It was an efficient design to say the least. There were no insignias save for a removable rank visible over the left arm. Special ops only required visible identification while on home base or allied territory, otherwise they needed to be nameless and without rank.

I stood on the landing pad for a moment, taking in the scene. There was an orderly rush about things as storm troopers moved across the base, officers carried documents or shouted various orders while the local militia wandered through it all, obviously out of touch with the more trained imperials on base. I hefted my bag over my shoulder as I started down a path to the colonel’s war room. Casually slipping my earpiece into place allowing me to tap into all imperial transmissions occurring on base, giving me a clue on what was happening.

Two storm troopers stood guard to the trance ot Daytons HQ. Giving them a quick flash of my left arm they gave a quick nod followed by a resounding "Sir" allowing me inside.

I stepped into the dimly lit command center. The colorful glow of holo maps filled the room, giving anyone who stood close enough a blurry tatoo of lines and troop placements. Inspecting the maps closely they showed detailed information of the surface of the planet. Giving geographical, meteorogical, and biogical information on all areas of the planet. This was indeed a war room.

I caught a cadet by the arm as he tried to pass. “I’m here to see Colonel Drayton.”

Drayton looked up as the man came walking into the HQ. This was no ordinary soldier. He wore dark battle armour which gave him a air of mystery. This was not uncommon though. What boys imagination hadnt been fired by the thought of special operatives. Drayton came back from the realm of memories when he saw the man walk towards him.

The cadet pointed behind himself and then scooted away quickly.

My eyes wandered slowly over the room until they drifted over a man being huddled around by various officers and troops. He was obviously the man in charge. I slipped my backpack off letting it slump to the floor against the wall as I began to walk toward the Colonel. My twin blasters sat snug in their holsters, the leather straps squeaking slightly with each step followed by the dull tack of a metallic cylinder bouncing against the armor on my lower thigh. I stopped dead in front of the Colonel bringing my hand up, tapping a finger against my ear piece to click it off while saluting in the same fluid movement.

“Special Operative Colonel Tear reporting, sir.” I stated calmly bringing my hand back down from the salute. “How goes the war?” I used the term “War” loosely as the imperial sovereignty fighting a war against some backwater natives was laughable at best.

"Well if you would like look at this map, I'll show you whats been happening." Drayton gestured to the table infront of them and began explaining the situation. After a breif but detailed report, he looked up at Tear. " If there is any way in which we can assist you in your mission, please ask. May I also warn you not to under estimate the Asmeru, I did several times and paid for it with many of my men. I have told all my battalion commanders this and only wish to help you aswell.

“Ill do my best to not underestimate them. As for your help ill require a drop ship to drop me at hart spaceport, one way trip only. I think that’s the best place for me to start. Then ill be out of your hair.” Tear smiled as he reached out taking Drayton by the wrist as soldiers would in the days of old.

Night fell without as much as a murmur upon Asmeru. The sun declined and fell away as darkness seeped into the foliated landscape.

Hegev. That was all he was known as. The very leader of the Asmeru uprising, the instigator of the violence. He was a brawny Asmeru, purple hued skin, square shaped head, deep green eyes. However, he wore rugged combat fatigues, not the usual loincloths of the civilians. Now, the eminent tactician brooded over a map of the area surrounding Hart spaceport. He knew the humans or K'vel as the Asmeru called them were reinforced by the bigger humans, the 'Imperials' as they called themselves.

The Asmeru soldiers began their night attack not long after. Creeping through the loosely forested landscape the natives clutched weapons tightly to their bodies, each young Asmeru ready to kill an invader for his people.

Silently, they killed the few scouts that kept watch.

Before long, the Asmeru were near the Imperial base of operations. As moonlight began to light the planet, ballista bolts flew from surrounding positions, impacting into the pre-fab structures below.

However, the Imperials were dug in, ready for exactly this type of attack. The Asmeru raced forward, lungs bursting, weapons poised.

“We are incoming to the Hart city spaceport, sir.” The Voice of co-pilot Listex rang out urgently from the cockpit of the armored drop ship.

I leisurely leaned through the doorway into the cockpit, glancing at scenery ahead of us. Hart spaceport wasn’t a city anymore it was a battleground. Towers of smoke billowed up into the heavens as random explosions and blaster bolts flew around the city, almost like a fireworks display. It didn’t even look like a city anymore. The buildings that were standing did so with holes blasted through or into them. Rubble and debris of buildings peppered the surroundings. Large craters from mortars littered the landscape with chunks of buildings that lay everywhere were being used as cover fire for various skirmishes to trade blaster fire.

“Drop to half speed and make a low pass of…” I tapped a few measurements into the console, “over the settlement then pull up and get the hell out of here. I don’t want you hanging around to be a target for too long”

“But sir…that speed isn’t safe for a jump. Your parachute would be ripped to shreds, not to mention there wouldn’t be enough time for it to even deploy before you smacked into the ground.” The worried tone of the pilot halting whenever he made a course adjustment to avoid random blaster fire aimed at us.

“I won’t be using a chute.” I said calmly making my way into the act section of the craft to gather my equipment. Both Pilot and co-pilot sat up in their seats glancing at each other with obvious disbelief as I walked away.

The craft jolted suddenly as it dropped from its high speed and made a lazy curving swoop down toward the war zone below under cover of darkness. The familiar glow seethed through the view ports of the craft as flashes of blaster fire zipped through the air passed the glass, making small metallic tacking noises against the hull. I slammed my boot down on a bench hurridly tightening a loose strap over my thigh before standing straight and rechecking my equipment. Everything on my body was pinned or strapped snuggly to me, I was ready to go.

A grin creased my lips, letting my eyes fall closed as I took a deep breath…waiting until it felt “right”. My eyes bolted open as I simultaneously slapped the button for the hatch to open. The hatch slid open followed by the roaring sound of wind filling the transport causing anything that was loose to flutter and jump around. I leaped forward being instantly swept away by the strong currents of wind. The roaring wind continued to scream passed my ears as my body fell through the torrents of air. I barely had time to get stabilize myself before catching sight of a roof rushing toward me. Quickly tucking my body into a ball. The impact instantly knocked the wind from my lungs as my armored body bounced and skidded over the roof making crunching sounds as I smashed dents into the surface with each bounce. Skipping an easy seven meters before, Frell!, was my only thought as the roof i was skidding over disapeared. I toppled over the side, falling a short distance to come crashing down through the roof of the next building.

Private Clantay looked up as he heard a repeated banging noise and scraping above him. The noise stopped, putting the nervous private’s mind at ease. He looked back out over the rubble-strewn street. Suddenly his whole life seemed as if it was about to end when part of the roof caved in. Clantay dived, covering his head. When he looked up and the dust cleared he could see a man amongst the debris.
The HQ had been taken by surprise. The Asmeru had burst from the undergrowth as fast as they could. The fighting hadn’t lasted long as the men of the Sovereignty were quick to retaliate. They were now surrounded. They had pushed the Asmeru back, but for how long?

I looked up through the haze of dust, catching trickles of small debris falling softly through the air. A groan escaped my lips as I sat up for a moment before gritting my teeth together to stand up straight. I stood in the middle of a room bathed in the moonlight that poured through the hole from the roof. My body armor had taken the brunt of the impact from the fall and was still intact although scratched up. My side seared in pain. It was a familiar pain. Having experienced cracked ribs from a previous injury on tatooine just a month before. I would need to heal before I got moving anywhere. Hart spaceport currently wasn’t a good place to be for a slow or injured lone imper-

I caught something to my right out of the corner of my eye. I struggled through clenched teeth as I took up a fighting stance. All my weapons were in my backpack so they wouldn’t be damaged from the drop, hand to hand would have to be the way to go, not that I minded…

“Identify yourself…” I growled as I inched my way toward the laying body.

As for what I’m doing in this hell hole is serving the Empire, Private, much like you.” My voice was clear and deliberate letting my eyes wander around the shattered room, fresh debris still crumbling down the hole I had made. “Are you alone? I laid my back flat against the wall peering out the window into the chaotic scenery. My arms folded over my chest as a few fingers stroked my chin in thought. I needed to get behind enemy lines and find their communication lines. Signal jamming from both sides made communication extremely difficult if not all out impossible, so the natives must be using messengers as lines of communication between their chief and his generals. To catch their messenger on the move they must need something to report…

Kneeling down along the wall I gave a shrug slipping my backpack to my front. I flipped through the various pieces of equipment before clearing them to the side, pulling a large black case out. Running my finger along the seam of the case with two resounding clicks as I flicked both clips, opening the case. Soft moonlight revealing four thermal detonators, two flash grenades, one smoke grenade, one sonic charge, one E-11 blaster rifle with silencer and modified night vision scope and two modified twin DL-44 blaster pistols. A smile crept over my lips as I slipped my twin blasters into their rightful homes of the holsters on my hips, making the soft sound of metal sliding snug into a hard leather holster. I loved that sound. I took the silencer and screwed it to the tip of the E-11’s barrel before laying it on the floor next to me. I slipped the four thermal detonators into side pouches of my backpack, leaving the smoke grenade out, before closing the almost empty case with a confident click and sliding it back into the backpack. I shoulder the bag sliding both arms through the straps and clipping one across my chest, grabbing my blaster rifle.

“Alright Private Clantay we are going to make a run for HQ.” I slug the blaster rifle over my shoulder making a quick peek around the corner before popping the pin on the grenade causing a thick stream of smoke to start to flow from the top. “On three” I whispered, tossing the smoke grenade into the street leaving a snaking trail of smoke from the doorway, which promptly received some light fire taking chunks out of the wall. The thick smoke crept sluggishly over the street clouding everything in its wake. “Two..Three!” I dashed into the street filled with random bolts of light ripping there way through the cloud of smoke.

Smoke was everywhere, he could hardly see. Clantay ducked and weave, following Tear as fast as he could. As shot hit Clantay's face. Half his vision went black and the ground sped up towards him. The private clawed helplessly at the ground where Tears boots had tread and he slowly slipped into darkness. His last sight was of the black combat boots disapearing into the smoke and shots kicking in about them.

A thick limbed Asmeru warrior leapt from his hidden position in the shell of a pre-fab shelter. His muscled limbs rippled as he jumped, his bulk smashing into the running black armoured human.

The warrior was covered in thick hide armour, strong enough to resist light blaster fire - not so effective against Imperial issue blasters - and stabbing weapons.

The warriors bright yellow eyes glowed with anger as he ripped a long viscous blade from its sheath at his side. He plunged it down at the chest of the blonde haired invader and his face contorted into a savage grin...

Plumes of dirt jumped into the air from blaster bolts that impacted the ground all around. The sound of it all was near deafening, he wasn’t even sure if Private Clantay was still following. A tingly sensation worked its way over Tears body causing goose pumps to rise…

Tear neck was whipped back as a strong impact slammed into him from behind, sending him sprawling over the ground, hands skidding roughly along the dirt in an attempt to halt the motion. Wincing in pain he rolled over onto his back to face his attacker, catching the flash of steel, Tear instinctively rolled up onto his shoulders, crossed legs catching the form arm of the massive alien. The two paused in a moment of struggle, staring into each other’s eyes with viscous intent. Both knew the others hate and they both knew what needed to be done. Blaster bolts continued to burst through the smoke-clouded street, plucking into the rubble that littered over the road. The alien was too strong, stern yellow eyes stared down Tear with confidence as the blade began to slowly fall…the tip beginning to scratch over Tear’s armor. Muffled gasps between long pauses could be heard from the two as they moved in slow motion.

“You’re going to die.” Tear growled through clenched teeth as he brought up bent arms to grip the aliens, not pushing yet. “Do you know how I know?”

The alien stayed silent as he shifted his body way repeatedly trying to shove the blade down, oblivious the to the flashes of light pelting the ground, sending up short sprays of debris and dirt.

“I’m Imperial” Focusing through the force, Tear felt the impending blaster bolt as it came screaming toward them, trailing a tail of smoke behind it. Pushing with his previously bent arms, Tear forced the alien’s arms up two inches, right into the path of the bolt. It exploded with a puff of smoke and sparks against the beast left arm, sending him rolling to the side. Rolling in the other direction into the safety of cover, Tear rose to his feet. The alien was already up and staggering toward him, the blade still clenched in his hand. Smirking, Tear spread his feet in a defensive stance, raising a hand he curled his fingers toward himself, taunting the primitive.

The creature sneered at the human, its bright yellow eyes glimmered and in a breath it had rolled to the floor and sent a fist pummeling into Tears middriff.
The young alien barred his fangs and bit out, straight at the invaders face.

The Imperials on the opposite side of the street from Tear's starting point, gave covering fire but nobody came through the smoke. They watched as the cloud cleared slightly and saw the two soldiers locked in combat.

Tear winced through clenched teeth as the strong fist struck home, causing Tear to bend over slightly with the force of the punch. Slightly dazed Tear raised his forearm up in a flash to catch the savages neck, the beasts fangs hovered mere inches from his face, as the two struggled for a better position.

Staring into the growling maw of the alien beast, the two grappled with each other, losing and gaining ground with every inch of movement, oblivious to the battle being waged around them.

The creature lunged toward Tears face again in an attempt to bite, this time Tear was in no mood as he too lunged forward striking the creature in the mouth with his forehead. Both staggered back in a dazed fashion, a small trickle of blood worked down Tears forehead split by one of the savage’s teeth. The native sneered baring several broken teeth, his lips were split open by the head butt, his teeth in his own blood. The pause was quickly brushed off by both, this time Tear lunged forward on the offensive, launching a series of swift hard strikes aimed at the beast’s face and neck.

The soldiers covering Tear were coming under heavy fire. One of the shouted to him. " We're falling back, hurry!" The man fired a shot at Tear's opponent and missed. The remaining troops began to sprint back to their lines.
