View Full Version : To counter the Lupines... anyone wanna join?

Mr Dust
Sep 25th, 2003, 08:11:10 PM
As many of you have noticed, the Lupines on the RP forums are being quite fruitful and multiplying. :) Well, I have an idea to sorta balance things out.

This character, Mr. Dust, comes from an outer rim planet. He was sent here because he has a very odd Force power: he becomes ethereal, and can walk through solid objects. Course, it's about all he can do. Anyway, this planet is very near Schwartzweld, the Lupine homeworld. These Jedi, known as Guardians, fight Lupines basically all the time.

So, here's the idea... I wanna bring in more guardians, in the "Mr." group. They will all look about like mine (pics are from Dark City, and I'll be happy to make the sigs for each one), and will all be specialists. The reason is that, because those Jedi are so far out, they've been keeping with old traditions for a LONG time, and the only time they send one of their own to train here is when they exhibit abnormal abilities. As well, because it's the old style, the characters use a one-handed saber in a fencing style. Now, all of this is rather flexible, but I'd like the distinctive nature to stick, if anyone'd be willing to do so. Here's the idea I had for a few characters. If anyone wants one, do tell.

Mr. Thread: This one's already been requested, but if anyone has a big-time desire to take this character, get with me and we'll talk. This character's ability is to generate threads of pure plasma from his fingers. They are extremely thin, but very strong. They can either entangle or cut, but could probably be ruptured with a saber, strong physical Force attack, or mental attacks (would disrupt the concentration necessary to hold them).

Mr. Blind: This character is physically blind, as the name implies. However, his connection with the Force allows them to detect everything around him with unbelievable accuracy. As he increases in rank, this sphere of detection would increase in size. As well, this character would be resistant to mental Force attacks, but not physical ones. And obviously, if a ysalimir were to come too near, he would be in a very bad state. But the upside is that his fighting skills and reflexes would be far above average.

Mr. Quick: This character specializes in Force Speed. The downside is that the character tires quickly, and can't keep up the speed too long. The upside is that his Force speed would be way above average, and would increase as time goes on.

Well, those are the ones I've thought up thus far. The characters are very polite and strong in etiquette, because of their rigid and traditional upbringing. They speak in an almost British accent, in a raspy, whispery voice. None of this is written in stone, it's just ideas I had to tie everything together.

So... any takers?

Just out of curiosity... do you intend to have some sort of ancient ties to the Jedi of old... like pre-Empire Old Republic times... with these characters? If that's the case, then I can see calling them "Jedi", particularly if they've been isolated from the galaxy for years and years. Otherwise, calling them "Jedi" wouldn't really be appropriate. Light-side practioners, sure... but the term Jedi implies a specific type of Light-side user.

Very well. I'm interested to see how the backstory is developed. If done properly, it could make for interesting interaction between said group and other Jedi, should such an encounter occur.

Well, I've fought a couple of Lupines before. Just so you know, because of the fight with the Lupines, most, if not all, "Mr." characters carry at least one silver coin, and his hat is lined with cortosis. The only reason for having these is to fight lupines, since both are major weaknesses of theirs.

Zeke? Razielle? Which characters do you prefer?

And just so everyone knows, I would REALLY appreciate it if yall would stick somewhat close to the backstory and mannerisms of the characters. I'd like to make a structure that makes these characters instantly recognizable. I don't mind some leeway, but please, stick to the story. :) Thanks. :)

Some ideas (BTW, I'm kinda stupid so don't be surprised if some of these ideas are to).

Mr Ghost = stealth ability (invisible for short periods of time)

Mr Sink = energy sink, capable of reducing (but not ceasing) the force flowing through specific targets.

Mr Pulse = Ability to create bundles of (force fueled) energy and can throw them; power can be varied, from firecracker to thermal detonator (although the latter would obviously have very substanial side effects of weakening Mr pulse, the best way to utilise it is to use energy levels such that the explosive force is equivalent to a small explosive charge/a decent kick).

Mr Fix = Ability to return caporeal mass to a relative state of entirety (a.k.a. force heal/repair).

(Ooooooo! I soooo badly wanna be Mr Pulse!)

Sep 26th, 2003, 07:33:41 AM
Well, we have a Mr. Flux, who controls electricity, both Force based and normal. If you'd like Mr. Pulse, have at it. :)

If anyone's wondering why they're all called "Mr." something-or-other, it relates back to the rigid structure of their society. It's considered immensely rude to use a person's first name, so everyone calls another "Mr."

And, come to think of it, a "Ms." character would work... but only one. Their society rarely (VERY rarely) produces female Force users.

And there's a meet and greet in Yog's. All the "Mr."s would know each other, probably by name.

Good to see ya, Pulse. :) Well, look... if anyone has any questions about the mentality of these guys, character quirks, etc, they can either PM me, AIM me, or post here or in another thread. It's not formalized yet, per se, but there is a rather extensive back story.

Mr Pulse

We'd best be posting the general quirky stuff here, that way all the uh....... "strangers" can keep track of whats what.

So while I'm on the subject, what are our people called?
What kind of lifespands are we looking at?
(so I can work out how old Pulse should be)
Do we have any common idioms/phrases that I should know?
Any typical thoughts/fears/loves/likes/dislikes?
(other then lupines of course)

Mr Dust
Sep 26th, 2003, 09:02:48 AM
We're called Guardians.

We have normal human lifespans, so around 20 to 30 should be fine. We do look older than our age, though.

Well, nothing except perhaps, "Bad form!" when someone cheats. We're rather aristocratic, somewhat arrogant, but INTENSELY rigid in our manners. A Guardian has no qualms killing a Lupine just because it's there, but would almost die before being rude. We never fight dirty or cheat, and are polite even during battle.

Hmm... as for typical thoughts, there's the arrogance and politeness. We come from a rather barren planet, very hot and desert like, which explains the hairlessness.

I wanna be Mr. Flash. He projects a nova of light into his opponet's eyes, providing instant blindness and temporary pain to any who suffer it. The downside is that he is very weak in hand to hand combat, doesn't have good saber skills, but has an good skill in ranged weapons. He is also weak in the legs, so he can't run fast.

I changed my mine. I don't wanna be Mr. Flash. I'll be someone else. I'm going to be.......... MR. SPANKY!!!!!

Edit: I changed my mind again. Now, for my final choice, I am going to be.....MR. HANKY!!!!!

Mr. Hanky: Uses a brown fudgelike substance like glue like Blorash Jelly to cling people to the floor, pin them against walls, and other stuff. It will malfunction machinerey, and it will smell horrible.
Downside: It smells horrible, my character has to throw it up, then throw it at his opponet, for this trick he needs a lot of fiber.

For anyone who wants to do Mr. Spanky:
He carries a two by four, is built strong, and fast in the arms, and is blind to the force so that he cannot be sensed by the people that he is about to whack.
Downside: He is perverted, or is supposed to be, and will often pause as soon as he whacks someone, relishing in the pleasure of the sound of the smack.

I think you're right, Daiq... I need to curtail the number of people in this. no one else try to join... I'll get a list up and see who we have, ok?

And Kraken... are you serious? I have to tell you, the Guardians wouldn't act that way... they are far too formal. And they're all lightsiders, so Mr. Spanky wouldn't be very... well, light sided.

im of the opinion that akrabbim wants to keep the guardians on a more serious note, correct me if im wrong though, so i think you need to come up with a more feasable char, kraken

and on a side note, dont yall go and gang up on me. last i checked, i was still in good graces with mr. dust

Exception on age will probably be Flux, until he is actually killed. He's stopped aging; though that will be written in a light history of the Guardian that is Mr. Flux.

Okay, Okay. My new character will be Mr. Boom. He is a demolitions expert. Is that okay?
He will be good in propelled charges, setting charges, disarming charges, and will carry a wide variety of grenades, and energy shields.
Downside: If he gets angry or sad, his aim and skills gets messed up. He also needs concentration for the more serious stuff, and can be disrupted by distracting him.

What side are we "really" on/others percieve we're on?

Mr Dust
Sep 28th, 2003, 01:31:20 PM
We are Jedi, and only Jedi. As I said, we are tied to the old Jedi order, thus the reason for the single-hand sabers, old style fighting, extremely rigid manners, and so on.

We were so far out that when the Jedi were wiped out, we were kinda missed. So we're Jedi, and always will be. And because of the rigidness of the manners, etc, a Dark Sider amongst the Guardians would be "dealt with" rather severely and VERY quickly.

Maybe after I get Xela nicely entrenched in the RP I could make a dark side Gaurdian.
He could have figured out that he would need to hide to avoid a painful death, and pretended to be just like all the others until Gaurdians began to be sent out into the rest of the galaxy. Then he managed to get a post out here and escaped when he arrived to sow chaos. He could be Mr. Combustion or something and have powers siliar to the X-Men Evolution version of Scarlet Witch, which is basicaly blowing stuff up. But he has to concentrate to detonate anthing large, and detonating too many things in too short a time makes him woozy. As he rises in rank he is able to take out large objects and more at a time.
