Now is a desperate time for the rebelion...

Hi everyone.

I'm the creator the Millennium Falcon PC computer mod.

http://www.techtv.com/graphics/thescreensavers/3527531.jpg http://www.techtv.com/graphics/thescreensavers/3527538.jpg

They are having a mod contest over on TechTV (http://www.techtv.com/screensavers) and I'm one of the 4 finalists! Now I need your votes to help me win. The
Falcon will be featured on ScreenSavers on Monday the 22nd, then voting will begin on the 25th and end on the 26th.

Don't let the evil military with their AmmoPC or the repungnant A.I. of the matrix win! Support the Rebel Alliance and vote for the Falcon!

May I count on your support?

May the force be with you...

You've got my vote. :)

P.S. I think I'll move this over to the OOC forum so that it gets more exposure too.

EDIT: Voting details:
The winning mod project will be decided by an online vote on the TSS website beginning Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. Eastern, and ending on Friday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. Eastern.

I watch TechTV a fair amount, and am more than familar with The Screen Savers show.

You've got my vote, easily. I still say that's the coolest PC mod I've ever seen.

Thanks for the support everyone!!!

So... I have one more question if no one minds. I'm new to the online Star Wars community...

I posted the same type of message to the forums at starwars.com and got the posts locked & deleted as SPAM. For the life of me, I don't get it.

Did I really do anything wrong by asking for help? Are they really that sensitive there?

Thanks again. I'll post the link to the voting site when it goes up on Thursday.

Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that they deleted your post(s) at the starwars.com forums. Oh well...

Did you submit your information to TheForce.net, too? This seems like the kind of thing that they would jump on to put up on their main site, and their forums have thousands of regular members.

Mebbe try CoruscantCity.Net as well...? We have a lot of posters who post at this board and that one, and they might be receptive as well.

I live in Sunnyvale, CA, USA. That's in Silicon Valley, for those who don't know :D

Thanks everyone for all the support. When I originally built the mod back in April/May, I got a good deal of support from the other case-modders. Now, a lot of modders are trying to put the case down calling it (and I quote) "ghey".

Every vote you give me is a vote against those people. If I win, me & the case will be on TechTV Monday. I'd love for that to happen if for no other reason than to stick it to those people who insult the case and me. Star Wars rocks.

If you win and get on the show, you'll have to give us promo... tell everyone to check out the boards. ;)

I've heard from others who have been on the show they frown on "plugs" like that on the air.

But if they let me, I'll certainly mention this board and the support I got.

Remember, less than 4 hours left for voting. The dark side is strong with the others...

Alas, I did not win.

I'm still not certain who it was, except that it wasn't me (for those who care, I'm 90% certain it was the AmmoPC).

Thanks for all the help, it definately was appreciated.

:mad I think the voting could have been done better. As it seems, people could vote multiple times, and that doesn't seem right. I have a vague feeling that because I didn't sit there for 19 hours clicking "submit", I lost. :mad

Oh well. I'll live to fight another day.

Thanks again.

If it wasn't you, I hope it was the ammo box. Both were excellent.

Yours kicked butt, and you don't need to win to know that.
Congrats on your achievements either way.

And the results are in: http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/supergeek/story/0,24330,3536290,00.html

The way I see it is if you take away the lights on the ammo box, it's just another box. The Falcon was different as it wasn't just your average rectangular case (and it didn't need any flashy lights to win).

As far as I'm concerned, the Falcon won the contest, and nothing else matters. :)

And next time (and there will be a next time), you can kick some major booty with your next out-of-this-world mod (hmmm... see if you can find one of the AT-AT toys :D)
