Why do people always put their names on sigs?

Sometimes you put a name on just because you want to have something there.. if you dont have a quote or whatever.

I don't always do that now. Not all of them, but some of my Jacob Nives sigs don't have names on.

Well, it is called a Signature. And when you write your signature, you're writing your name. So why would you call it a signature if it didn't have your name on it? It'd be more like a picture.

Because for some reason, people tend not to look there a lot. I can think of times where they didn't spell my name right and were less than three posts away. IMO there is no excuse for that: scroll up and cut -> paste.

Well, it is called a Signature. And when you write your signature, you're writing your name. So why would you call it a signature if it didn't have your name on it? It'd be more like a picture.

But if you already signed your name, why would you RE sign it? :)

I've wondered that too.. and I've made a couple of sigs that didn't have names on them since they didn't look right with text.. But I have trouble finding a host that will stay up, so I've basicly quit using a sig altogether :x

I believe I made a couple of sigs for myself (and used them) that didn't include my name. I was going for simplistic, and saying "Darth Viscera" again just seemed redundant.

Why do movie theaters post whats playing on a big billboard, then have posters with the movie's title plastered across it?

The movie theaters don't make the posters :)

I put my name is sigs becuz I like my name and I want everyone and their sister to make sure they have my name memorized!

i think cuz it verfies things. Like on an official document. It has your name in several places but they still ask you to sign here and there for authentications. If they didn't do that, your name could be signed to anything :D

Let me try this again. Basically, I have no clue why I put my character's names in their sigs. What I do know is, I enjoy putting their names in, and I will continue doing it. In fact, im gonna start putting MY NAME in my sigs too, just to show everyone how much I LIKE PUTTING NAMES IN MY SIGS. In fact, I'll put your name in too!

You know why?

Cause im making them! It doesnt matter if you think its pointless! I can do it if I want!

I personally think the name adds a personal touch. The viewer associates the artwork/graphic with the character in a roleplay sense when they see the name

maybe they put the names on the sigs to make them look good... i mean, a random bunch of pictures is nice, but a random bunch of pictures with the name of the character and a quote is jsut a nice looking sig.
