Another critical Microsfot vunerability. Get patching from here -

Also, firewalling may not prevent an attack. One new client specifically got me in after their firewall was beaten by Nachi. Never preume a firewall is a be all and end all of software safety. Your system / network is only as secure as the dumbest user using it.

I installed it and did something that stops it from working. Dont they make these DLs idiot-proof these days? :)

It can beat firewalls!

They took away my security blanket!

It deal with RPC again! Why don't they just patch the thing out already? If it can be hacked like this then what the heck is Microsoft doing still using it? And to top it off Windows 9x doesn't have this problem. :(

Step 1: Barbeque your hard drive

Step 2: Purchase new hard drive

Step 3: Install Linux (optional)
NOTE: Windows 2000/XP remains a viable choice, especially if you like zippy GUI's...

Step 4: Donwload Mozilla Firebird

Now that should be idiot-proof...ever ReaperFett can burn a hard drive!

Step 3: Install Linux (optional) Fight hopelessly sluggish GUI compared to Windows 2000/XP.

I haaaaate Linux. Linux and that little penguin can go burn in hell. The only thing its good for is hosting MUDs.

Well, anybody too retarded to install the patch properly probably lacks the cognitive function to notice the difference...:p

And the penguin is...a penguin. What's wrong with the penguin?

Step 5: Learn how to use Internet properly

Fixed it for you.

The best fix - Turning it off completely: <a href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825750>Disable DCOM</a>

I'm kidding Sorr, don't worry. That "retarded installer" comment came from somebody who's melted his internal components to slag and set his power supply aflame...:lol
