The little magician is at the very end of the bar from the cart where the coffee pots sit, ready for customers to serve themselves the hot drinks at any point during the day. It's two hours after breakfast and half an hour before lunch; the time difference is irritating Soen to no end. Worse yet, the coffee in the pots...the level of coffee in each is uneven!

"S-sir...sir, your coffee..."

The bartender ignores the stuttering boy, who returns his gaze to the pots. The caffinated coffee is half empty, while the decaffinated coffee is three fourths full. He points a shaky finger, but deftly puts it down.

"Sir, the coffee is..."

But the bartender hurries on to put away cleaned glasses, as if he never heard Soen at all. The boy looks at the pots...then looks away. His eyes travel to his left, where the pots are sitting idly, taunting and smirking...but he looks determinedly away. No sooner have his eyes fixed themselves on the stool to his right than he's crouched before them, holding one coffee pot in each hand and pouring the contents back and forth, from one to the other, stopping every now and again to measure, to check, oh it's wrong, it's WRONG! THE COFFEE IS UNEVEN!

Jezrea lhad been sitting in a booth siping from her glass of fruit juice when she saw a strange boy staring at a bunch of coffee pots

She almost started choking on her drink when the boy grabed the pots and started pouring them into each other again and again is the boy crazt or something she thought to herself

she got to her feet and walked over to the boy, Jezreal taped him on the shoulder "um, are you ok?"

"Yes," he says in a strained voice, putting the coffee pots down. Once the liquid has settled, he sees that the decaffinated coffee is nearly a full half inch above the caffinated one, and proceeds to amend his answer to her question. "...no..."

Jezreal frowned this guy is messed up she thought to herself

"is there anything i can do to help?" she asked nicely.

He picks the pots back up, pouring slowly, carefully from one to the other, setting them down to look. Now the other one's too tall. He pours it back, giving a staccatto laugh as he finds the problem persisting, teasing him with the 1/8 inch margin that he cannot rid himself of.

"It's wrong..." he murmurs worriedly. "So very wrong..."

Jezreal just stared as the boy kept doing what ever he was doing with the pots

I cant take this any more she thought as she grabed the pots out of the boys hands and set them down on the table they had been on

Jezreal then grabed Soen and pulled him over to a nearby chair and slamed him down on it "what is your problem?"

He tries to stand up and go back to the pots, with their 1/40th inch off-balance, but she's blocking him with such a stern expression that he finds himself sitting down quietly, stammering and looking anywhere but her eyes.

"Th-th-th-th-the pots...the...the coffee's not...it's not even..." he sputters desperately, casting a longing glance at the taunting pots.

Jezreal glared at Soen "and whats so special about those pots" she said almost yelling "they're just COFFEE POTS" now Jezreal was yelling

all the other people in the room where staring with they're mouths open.

He whimpers pathetically.

"But...but they're not even..." he protests quietly, voice cracking with his distress.

"SO!" Jezreal shouted "a lot of things are uneven" She pushed him down harder into the chair "you face is going to be uneven if you dont stop this nonsence."

Jezreal felt a hand on her shoulder. "You're the one that needs to stop the nonsense, Miss."

Wei had been eating quietly until a loud shout got his attention. "Do you really think that losing your temper and yelling is going to make this guy stop worrying about the coffee pots? You're only scaring him and making his discomfort even worse."

Wei let go of Jezreal's arm and grabbed her hands. Wei bent her wrists in, and her fingers opened, releasing her hold on Soen.

"Ma'am, this is a Jedi Bar and Grill. We do not allow violence in this place. I suggest you calm down before you are asked to leave." Wei's voice was stern.

"Are you ok?" Wei asked Soen. "You're not hurt, are you?"

Wei dusted Soen off, muttering under his breath about how people seemed to think that violence could anything.

Jezreal slowy turned around, Wei could see the anger in her eyes, She looked him in the eyes "never touch me again!" she said in a voice as cold as ice

She could tell that Wei was a Jedi by the way he had handled the problem, She turned to Soen then back to Wei "well why dont you figure out whats wrong with this boy,Jedi."

"Ok," Wei said casually. "So, why exactly do the coffee pots bother you, again?" Wei asked.

Wei found a seat and looked Soen in the eye. Wei was not angry at either Soen or Jezreal. Only concerned and curious.

"Look at it!" Soen sputters, pointing to the villainous containers, "The decaffinated coffee is 1/40th of an inch higher than the caffinated coffee. It's terrible!"

Wei turned to look at the coffee pots. "I can't tell," he said honestly. "You have a good eye for detail."

Wei looked back at Soen. "So I suppose you were going to fix them yourself, so that they were even?"

Jezreal still on a bad mood, looked over at the coffee pots then back to soen "why would you care that a bunch of pots are not evenly filled?"

Soen Spellflinger
Aug 29th, 2003, 05:21:54 PM
"They have to be even! People eat in here!" he cries indignantly, as if the uneven coffee was as bad as if cockroachs were swarming in the food.

Wei thought over what Soen had said. "I suppose it would be bad if a lot of people wanted one type of coffee and there was not enough. But by pouring them back and forth, you've mixed them together."

Wei leaned forward and put his elbows on the table. "Don't you think you could have evened out the coffee pots in some other way?"

Soen Spellflinger
Sep 1st, 2003, 07:35:04 PM
"Y-yes."

He could have filled cups with coffee until they were even, but there's no guarantee that anyone would have drank the coffee, and thus it would have been wasted.

"Um...no..."

Wei Wu Wei
Sep 1st, 2003, 07:50:20 PM
Wei looked over at the coffee pots. "Hmm...how could we even them out? Let's see..."

Wei got up and beckoned Soen to follow him over to the coffee pots. "Let's see. Right here, seeing as they're both half full, it is hard to make them even. So how do we make the task of evening out the coffee pots easier?"

Soen Spellflinger
Sep 2nd, 2003, 11:49:04 AM
Soen fidgets. He can't think of a way to do that wouldn't be wasteful or create a great number of dirty dishes.

"Um..."

Wei Wu Wei
Sep 2nd, 2003, 12:50:49 PM
"Let's think about this," Wei says, staring at the pots. "Evidentally, the coffee is not brewed at this area. See? The coffee pots are sitting on hotplates. That means that the coffee has already been made and is just sitting there to stay warm for a customer."

Wei looked over behind the counter at two coffee brewers. Two clean pots were sitting underneath them. "However, those machines over there make coffee. How could we use those things over there to even out the coffee pots over here?"

Now Soen feels stupid.

"...just make more..."

Wei Wu Wei
Sep 3rd, 2003, 09:25:34 PM
"Indeed," Wei said grinning. "Come on, man. Let's go have a talk with the bartender."

Wei beckoned the bartender over. "Is this coffee fresh? It looks like it's been here a while."

The bartender nodded, apologized and set to work making more coffee.

"Now these pots will soon be full to the brim. Full of fresh coffee for old folks and over worked people."

Soen sits stewing, eyeing the clock at 11:59.

"Stupid clock..." he grumbles, glaring at the back of the bartender as the big oaf refills the coffee.

Sep 6th, 2003, 08:42:20 AM
"Thank you," Wei said when the bartender had placed the two full coffee pots on the hotplates.

"There." Wei turned to Soen with a smile, expecting things to be better, but Soen was still frowining and grumbling about the clock.

"What's so bad about the clock? I rather like it. It's a nice shape, and tells time very accurately."

Soen Spellflinger
Sep 7th, 2003, 07:33:34 PM
"LOOK! IT'S 11:59!"

Wei Wu Wei
Sep 7th, 2003, 07:52:20 PM
"Wei looked up. Yeah. It's getting really late. Good thing this place is open all the time."

Wei sat and watched the clock's second hand go around once. "Just a tiny little minute. But eternity is in it."

Soen squirms until it becomes 12:00. When the time finally changes, he heaves a sigh of irritated relief and gets up hastily.

"This sucks. I'm leaving."

And before any can protest the matter, he walks out as quickly as he can, taking his staff and setting foot on the street a mere 4 seconds before 12:01.

Sep 9th, 2003, 12:15:00 PM
Wei looked up at the clock, now reading 12:00. "I wonder why he was so upset about the clock?"

Wei shrugged. "That guy worries too much. He needs to relax."

Wei shrugged again and decided to let the matter go. It was probably best that Soen have some time alone to sort things out and get calmed down.
