Its a big floating semi-wreckage, mostly uninhabitable, of archaic design, and "crewed" by a bunch of force ghosts, who haven't quite realised that they're dead. And it isn't obvious to anyone else that they're dead, until someone looks down in one of the storage bays and finds the bodies, still in their broken stasis chambers.

the ghosts talk about there having been a problem with the cryosleep systems, but it is assumed that these are the survivors - they have been travelling for a really long time, like a few hundred years, and maybe theres something interesting that could be done with that.

Any ideas?

For the most part, Force spirits cannot interact with the physical world. Well trained Jedi or Sith might retain some of their powers in the afterlife, and in some cases focal points of Dark Side power warp those violently killed into Force spirits with some control over the Force, but for the most part random dead ppl don't come back as spirits and said random dead ppl would have a hard time moving levers and flicking switches if they did.

That being said, perhaps they ran into an Imperial Star Destroyer controlled by one Darth Vader awhile back and ended up how they did? :)

Perhaps individually, they cant do anything but combined, they can?
