The event is just about 90 minutes from telecasting via pay per view taped delay. The fights already concluded last night (PST) in the Saitama Super Arena and the results are presently posted at all Mixed Martial Arts sites now. I haven't visited any of them to avoid being spoiled. If you are a fan of MMA, this card is a dream come true.
Having already pre-ordered the event through my DirectTv cable service. Through-out the day, the channel has been telecasting interviews with the fighters, press conferences even featuring the fighters and both Pride President Nobuyuki Sakakibara and UFC President Dana White. One of his fighters are representing the UFC in the Tournament, Chuck "Iceman" Liddell. A formidable striker with a background in Muay Thai and wrestling. Also they are showing highlight reels including the 2003 Pride Shockwave card which featured a battle between Pride great Antonio "Minotauro" Rodrigo Nogueira against the ex-football player turned K-1 Fighter, Bob Sapp whom stands at a enormous 6'3" and weighs in at 350lbs. The much smaller yet more technically adapt Nogueira was definitely battered and bruised through the match yet won the fight with a cinched armbar in Round 2 submission. Superb match-up.
Pride FC's round configuration stands as follows, three rounds of consisting of one ten minute round with two subsequent five minute round. Victor can be decided by submission, knock-out, referee stoppage, technical knock-out, or point structured judge's decision. (By far, what a boxer constantly sustains during a professional bout is far more brutally barbaric than any MMA bout. MMA is far more humane and superficial, yet like every, every professional sport ... there is always risk of bodily injury.)
There is talks of Pride's debut in America, as early as January 2004 which will held in Las Vegas. Promising news there. This thread is a continuation from here. (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31013)
Cheers! If you love combative sports don't miss it. It an opportunity to enjoy the glamour of Mixed Martial Arts sports.
Oh yeah, Go Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson and Mirko 'Cro-Cop' Filipovic. Two awesome fighters that I personally draw much inspiration from. My two favorite fighters!!!
