Kensington stepped into the Inner Council Chamber. It was built almost exactly like the Senate's, just smaller and obviously with a higher interior design budget.

On the way over, Tercer realized that many Senators would use this "crisis" as an excuse to not show up, to delay the vote and keep the status quo on the levy. How many he could not tell, yet many key speakers had yet to voice their opinions. Those that wait until the others had spoken to throw their jabs against their opponents.

Several others began trickling in as Kensington took his seat, and waited if the necessary amount would show up to continue the debate. He wouldn't be surprised if the opposition to the levy had set this up!

[Senator Thareena]

Thareena grumbled, feeling rushed and rumpled by her distressed bodyguards. "All right, all right! Toni, stay with me, the rest of you, go do something else. There isn't enough room in the secondary chambers for more than one attendant." Toni Blaire was adjusting her long hair, sticking a wicked looking hairpin back into place, leaving only the decorative end showing.

Finally the Senator reached her new seat, smoothing her robes and taking a moment to make sure her short red hair was in place. In a few more minutes the vote would begin again. She'd already voted, to be sure, but the outcome of this vote would be interesting and she wanted to be present to see how it would go.
