Jacali Danner: Troubled...(council)

Jacali Danner felt ill at ease as she neared the doors to the High Council chamber.
Her stomach was a mass of knots from the disturbing vision she had just incountered again. She wished her Master were back from his trip to Arcan, but he was not and it would probably be a few more days until his return.

Jacali felt shaky as she was now forced to come before a group of people she'd never met. And public speaking was definitely not a stronghold for her.

The Padawan raised her hand and was about to knock, but stopped herself.

Perhaps, Dasquian will return tonight and I can talk to him about this. And if not...I'll come back tomorrow...

That was her plan as she dropped her hand and turned to leave. Her retreat hadn't lasted long...not even two steps, when the door opened....

The members of the Council assembled inside where talking with one another about recent events that had taken place within the Order when the doors to the chamber were pushed open. Some stood, some sitting, most all turned to look to see who had come before them. The Hallaeran Knight smiled from his seat, nodding in greeting to Jacali, although his warm expression faded a little as he felt some of the anxiety in his Padawan – had something happened in his absence?

“Greetings, Jacali. What brings you before the Council today?”

Jacali saw her Master sitting there as she bit her lip and entered the room. "Master...I..." She stuttered for a moment and then took a deep breath to calm herself, before she looked foolish.

"I've come to receive counsel from the.....council..." Boy, that sounded dumb as she shook her head in disbelief. Her palms were sweaty as she looked at all the members about.

Jacali looked at Dasquian and tried to hone out everyone else around her. "I didn't realize that you had returned, Master."

“I only got back from Arcan this morning,” he explained, smiling warmly.

“Now tell me, what is it you would like our counsel on?”

Jacali swallowed hard as she looked at the lot of them. "I've had a vision, Master. A rather disturbing one and I am at a loss of what to do about it. It has to do with Mylia, she's in danger."

[Dasquian Belargic]

“Why is she in danger? What did this vision show you?”

Navaria listened silently, letting Dasquian ask the question for now. Jacali was open to him and felt relaxed in his presence. But ... personally, she was happy to see that the Padawan was doing well physically. The Knight still was recovering from using her abilities in making sure that Jacali did not perish, but it was easy enough to keep up her immunological defenses until all of the poison would be gone from her body as well.

Jacali took a step forward and bowed a greeting towards the council, she was nervous.

"I saw my roommate at some kind social event in a large dining palace with many royal and higher class officials. She was there as a guest and as the night wore on she was with a man." She stopped momentarily and took a deep breath as her body temperature began to rise, she felt odd explaining this with so many about. But, she continued. "I don't know who this man was, but later in the evening he'll buy Mylia a drink and drug her."

Now, she felt rather queasy and her knees felt weak. "He'll give it to her and...she'll pass out sometime later on a terrace that has no one around..."

She stopped to get her bearings again. Once calmed, she finished. "A speeder will pull up to the terrace with a man...or...well...not a man, but some kind of....beast-looking...thing..." It was hard for her to explain. "And this 'thing' will take Mylia from the man and then bite her...on the neck with it's rather....large fangs..." There, she said it and now wondered how stupid she must have sounded, but it was true.

"That's about it in a nutshell." She finished. "I don't know what will happen after that, my vision usually just ends." By then, Jacali was shaking slightly.

"How often do you have these visions and when you do, are they fairly accurate?"

Visions were tricky. They were warnings from the Force, true, but they were also possible futures that may come to pass. One needed to tread carefully when dealing with premonitions. Which was why Navaria wanted to gauge Jacali's ability before assuming too much.

The kind voice of the woman that saved her life, brought Jacali to a more at ease state.

"The last vision I encountered was very accurate..." She paused briefly, as she looked down. "My parents died from it."

Jacali pushed aside the memory of it and looked at Navaria. "I saw it play out night after night, while I slept. Then, it happened during the day...when I wasn't asleep and I knew it was something besides insanity."

A tear slid silently down her cheek. "My parents died that night of a mugging. A mugging that I saw happen...and could do nothing about." Oh, how she disliked bringing up her past.

"I've had three visions of the same thing, the last just happened at my kitchen table not more than a half hour ago." She shook her head, "I had my own ideas on how to handle it, but now I don't think you would approve."

She was impressed with Jacali's ability to speak about her past, but Navaria could feel how difficult it was. Best to move away from anymore talks about the Padawan's past ... for now.

"There is only one way to find out. Please ... explain what you have decided upon to avert this vision."

Jacali nodded and was silent for a few moments. "I hadn't decided on it until...." She paused as her nervousness was beginning to return.

"Until, Mylia asked me to attend a banquet in the honor of her father...a big banquet. One that requires fine clothes and such and then I knew it was true."

"So, that's when I thought I should take it into my own hands, I don't really know why...I just didn't want Mylia to get hurt."

Jacali stopped again as she looked at her Master and sighed. "I was going to take the blaster that my father gave me two years ago..." She looked down at her hands as her fingers pulled on a frayed string on her tunic.

The young Padawan was ready to be blasted herself by her Master or any of the others.

"We do not want Mylia to get hurt either ... and your safety is just as important. Having you deal with this situation alone is unwise. You should have someone else to watch your back incase your vision comes to pass. Strength in numbers afterall."

"I've not told Mylia of this yet, Master Tarkin. I was afraid it would scare her." She admitted. "Mylia gets startled easily."

Jacali began to feel light-headed, due to the fact she felt strangely on display.

“Perhaps I should accompany them, Master Tarkin?”

Figrin nodded in agreement with Dasquian's suggestion. "An escort, someone of skill and rank, would be the best way to ensure this vision does not come to pass."

The Jedi Master pondered for a moment.

"What kind of security is being planned for this event? Surely if many of the guests are VIPs, there will be some security force on duty. Perhaps whatever Jedi escort is sent can coordinate with them, and warn them of a potential attack."

:: AB nodded at Dasquian's suggestion, especially after hearing what Jacali had told them. ::

That might not be such a bad idea. Perhaps even more than one Jedi should accompany them.

Perhaps not two Masters... unless it is felt the situation warrents it.

Jacali listened carefully, they were taking her seriously and she sighed in relief. She wasn't going to be alone.

"A coordination between us and security would be a good idea."

She looked towards Dasquian.

"At least you should go along since you volunteered. After speaking with those hosting the event, we can discuss further if more then one escort is necessary... Also... we cannot forget to tell Mylia..."

Her eyes fell upon Jacali.

"She has to know..."

"Me, Master?" Jacali asked rather shocked. She hadn't expected that, but who else could tell her?

She did not like to be the bearer of bad news. All this time, she had attempted to keep her friend calm, collected...and now she was going to wreck everything.

Jacali shuddered at the thought as she nodded. "Yes, Master. I'll tell her, but does it have to be right now? We've still got about a week left and I if I tell her now, she'll do nothing but make herself sick with worry. I know her."

“It is better she know sooner than later, so that she is prepared.”

"Very well, Master. I'll tell her after I leave this session." Jacali sighed deeply, she would do as they told her. Even though, she really didn't want to, she would.

"Then all is decided is who is going to go ..."

She looked over at Dasquian with a small smile.

"Besides you.. tho I am assuming you wish to help."

"Of course," Dasquian nodded.

Don't worry, Jacali. I will come with you to see Mylia. She'll understand.

Jacali sighed slightly after hearing the mental words of her Master. Thank you, Master.
