I wrote this at 5am on Saturday morning after a night out with some friends (images on the way - I took my video camera :)). I chose not to go to sleep as I'd be up for work at 7am. Whilst browsing the boards I decided to write this. I originally posted it at meras so you may have already seen it. Enjoy.
Dreaming Of Sleep
I come home and I turn her down,
I actually tell her "not tonight".
Her soft touch is a welcome thought,
Instead I choose to stare at you.
I'm the one who turns you on,
I'm the one who looks at you.
But you never say a word,
You just tell me what I want to hear.
I stare at you white and wide,
Gazing deeply, hoping.
I don't know what I'm looking for,
Nobody does.
Like my glass, my eyes are empty,
But they take in everything all around me.
The shadows and the hightlights,
The reflections in the mirror.
My brain would like to shut
Everything out of consciousness.
But consciousness is so damn loud,
I'd never get to sleep.
I'd toss and turn and tire myself out,
I'd be to exhausted to go to sleep.
My veins are pumping with energy now,
Nothing could keep me down.
Time ticks away into memory,
Nostalgia grows with every second.
History repeats itself,
As do teachers but there's no point.
Nobody pays any attention,
Not even me, I'm pre-occupied.
My mind races with ideas,
I've got no time to sleep.
My Physical is far to slow,
My Mental's on a roll.
Where it stops, no one knows,
Where will it come to rest?
I will not let me rest,
Lest I grow weary and sleep.
My eyelids battle gravity,
As I reach for the glass.
Empty now, I did not know,
Time flys when you're having fun.
Oootabley! I've de-stimulated,
I need to get my rocks off.
Non-stop rocking, all night long,
Without a care in the world.
Remembering, I come back home,
I've yet to take my socks off.
The silence drives me mad,
But peace and quiet calms me.
When its cold I moan and droan,
But even heat beckons complaint.
This heat is overbearing,
Like a fathers relentless snore.
My sister stirs, tucked in her bed,
While I am still awake.
The sun is up and I've yet to land,
My eyes still going strong.
Just a pitstop now I think,
Before I fall asleep.
