Hey, just want to note everyones progress every once in a while. Ive been so busy with work and the game that I haven't had time to participate in any of the current SWG threads XD.

So far Lowca isn't that great, its said that its laggier than some of the other servers and drops every once and a while. But I'm not a big complainer. I can't stand those people that go around spamming about how the game sucks. I've got a good debate on that topic too on the Lowca forum "What I'm sick and tired of" by MortalDanger.

Character wize I'm moving much slower than I'd like too. But I only play 6-8 hours a day if even that. Work and other things have got me so tired at the end of the day I hardly have the awareness to play for very long. I'm heading for Master Scout/Master Ranger/Fencer/Creature Handler. Right now I'm in a mad rush for Creature handler, I thought I only needed exploration to the max, but was mistaken and noticed I needed hunting too, after I had battle vrelts for 3 days like crazy. So now I've got to get hunting 4 then the exp for novice creature tamer. However I take it pretty easy, I just sit in cantinas sometimes and what not.

I travel a bit too, which makes me a little slower on getting exp. I went to Dantooine last night in search of some jedi, but never found any. Dantooine was sort of neat but the players I met there were just <smallfont color=#ff00ff>-Strawberry Shortcake-</smallfont>s -_-. Right now I'm on corellia, mostly in Coronet but sometimes in Tyrena. I also started out on Talus, but I learned its trash and it stays dark there for about 30 minutes real time. And I'm going to Tatooine later today, hopefully, where I have a friend with a house. He looks like a Tusken Raider o_O.

No faction or guild yet, pretty much on my own, just because I like to travel alot. But once I tame a creature, I'll be taking it really easy, and go on some large Hunting trips rather than scouting exp hunts(killing small blues over and over for fast exp).

But I do have a few friends I hang out with every once and while, and sometimes pick up someone to go hunting with if I like, or have some Med center duels n such. But I can't wait to come over to the swfans server =). I'll probably be a sniper there.

Any comments or stories youd like to share with me? I'd like to see how ya'll are doing.

I haven't played since Saturday night after I got mad because I couldn't get a wind generator to power my 2 harvesters, which btw I placed incorrectly so that they can only collect ore, are surrounded by red instant death people, etc etc.

I'm not going to play it again until I can do something other than gathering resources, delivering things, going on missions to destroy Everquest monster lairs, and running from thugs who are inexplicably capable of inflicting 500% more damage on me by punching me in the watch than I can inflict on them by shooting them in the head from 3 meters away with a frikkin' laser.

I'm not going to waste any more of my time on this blowtastic piece of crap until you can do something fun in it, like leading a squad of stormies in battle, engaging in space battles, driving a speeder, or downing one of those annoying charging red instant death rats with 1 shot from a Jango Fett pistol like in AOTC. I refuse to believe that in a Type 2 civilization, wild animals are still a threat, lest they be caged and a member of the species that the Rancor belongs to!

Rabble! Rabble rabble rabble!

You do know, with the harvestors you must pull out the wind power cores from the Wind Mill's hopper and then place said energy into the harvestor? It will not automatically transfer.

Yesterday, 3 imps and I started harassing a covert rebel, when a Overt Rebel ran up. This guy has been playing none stop, high level. Anyway, this Creature Handler Covert Imp challanged him to a fight. Animal vs. Droid. While they wherre fighting, this other imp charachter and I ran off, delcared Overt, ran back, finished off his droid and started wailing on this guy. The other guy died in 2-3 hits. (He was bragging alot) and I finished off the Rebel. To bad he got off a high powered Action Wound off, and I slowly died. (None of the Imperials around had healing) Damn though, it was AWESOME! But watching him fight, he kept healing himself, only reason he lasted for the 20 seconds of the fight. So I going to go learn Medic Skill.

Well, I have a decent gun, I'm halfway to Pistol 4, I have First aid 4, diagnostics 1, pharmacology 1, organic chemistry three (from almost type a stimpacks exclusivly), surveying one, and exploration 2.

I had full Mabari but I got sick of the look so I gave it to a friend.

One quick question though... Can we sell more then one item in the Bazzar?

Darth Viscera
Jul 15th, 2003, 02:26:56 PM
You can sell 25 items in the bazaar. And if you're like me, no one will buy them. 2 weeks ago I crafted 25 carbines and put them all up for sale at 100 credits each, and no one even bought 1 of them, so I was stuck with a 500 credit listing fee for nothing.

I have 21,000 credits now. Should I try to buy a drobe droid or chitin armor?

Ace McCloud
Jul 15th, 2003, 05:15:32 PM
21k wont get you enough chitin armor.

But hey! I tamed a Grand Wrix Baby!! Those things are HUGE. You NEVER see babies, but I was lucky enough to find one. When hes fully grown hell have 5500 HAM and do 200 damage. Hehe, already hes bigger and stronger than me

Jul 15th, 2003, 05:16:29 PM
Oh and by the way, can someone see if someone by the name of "Aesic" is in the SW fans server? Hes my good friend, we play in Lowca but he made an architect in the sw fans server and i havent seen him and a while. And unfortunatly the server is full so I can't get in =(

And Ace, as soon as the Devs balance out CH skills, you ain't going to be able to tame them creatures as easily.

Jedi Master Carr
Jul 15th, 2003, 09:23:10 PM
DV, Chitin Armor costs like 30K I have over 40k and been trying to get some so I know. About selling stuff, I give up with that I have put things like meat and that on there but because you have to pay 20 credits and you might not sell it, most things I will try to sell to other players myself.

Ace McCloud
Jul 16th, 2003, 02:26:19 AM
Well Dyzm, I dunno if I said this already, but I tamed a Grand Wrix. Er I think I did say that already. ::Scrolls up:: Yup. Well hes to 1100 HAM and 40 dam.

But it was a non aggro baby, right now I think its just randomized... Novice CH can only tame babies, but whether you tame them on the current try is random i think. I tried to tame a baby dwarf nuna so many times it got annoyed and committed suicide by attacking me.

I care more about growing them than taming, I'll probably still be taming babies when I get higher level, so that doesnt matter much to me. Some people like massive super uber rancor pets, not me, I like having a real pet, and not a battle tank =)

Darth Viscera
Jul 16th, 2003, 02:48:49 AM
Why don't you want a battle tank?

Get yourself a rancor with 10,000 HAM so you can destroy rebel generals and get yourself uber faction points. Soon you'd be walking around in stormtrooper armor and could requisition yourself 3 stormtroopers and the best blaster.

I am now a Coporal in the Imperial Army!

Stormtrooper armor sucks...
Commando's give about 20 faction pointss,
Troopers around 8
The Base itself gives about 12.
Do the Missions at the Imperial Retreat, I have seen Vader, Thrawn, Veers, and the Emperor kicking it there. And the missions faction points go like this: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.
After 50, you switch to a new NPC boss
And half the missions are "Escort Moff Blah back here" Which is only a 5 minute trip.

Darth Viscera

Dyzm,

Okay, so here's what happened. I finished the first mission, escort the moff, and got a 2nd mission, get info on a rebel sympathizer. Well I approached the rebel sympathizer, couldn't do a converse with him so I attacked him. 4 incapacitations later, he's finally dead, so mission accomplished, right? right. So I head back to the imperial retreat, and Kaja Or'Zee says she's sorry to hear about my failed mission, and that she'll have to record my failure on her dossier.

"WHAT?!!"

Why is it a failure if I get knocked out once? Isn't this Kaja Or'Zee smart enough to know that if she sends me, a guy with 800 HAM, up against a rebel sympathizer with 3000 HAM, I'm not going to win immediately? Is she stupid or something? How am I supposed to complete this mission?

Carr, I started on Talus, heh. Its crap, Nashal is like.....a large land fill. Dearics not bad. But hunting there is a real pain, trying to avoid all the reds and you only have about 30 minutes before it gets very dark for a VERY long time. Most of the reds there are humanoids, there are lots of dralls and selonians which are annoying as hell. Once I'm good enough I'm going back there and going to wipe both of the species out =)

Wish I could blow up Drall with the death star.....

But on another note....Lowca hasnt had the resource shift yet, I'm not sure exactly what that means but I know its bad.

The Outpost is horrible man the reds are numerious especially those Dralls. There aren't too many down by Dearlic so Nashall is that bad? Breakdown of the Starting Planets:

Naboo, Corellia, Tatooine: very low to medium-high baddies. (Easy solo planets)

Rori, and Talus: From low to very high baddies.
(Group or Pet recommended)

Yavin4, Dathimor, Endor: Medium to Ultra-beatyoudown-high
(5+ groups including Pets and Bots)

But we had some good hunting today on Talus
(couldn't understand why we didn't just go to Rori, cheaper)
but had some good points killing Torturs (sp?) Giant Mega Turtles.
I am starting the long path of leveling up Expert Rifle and Carbine to Specialist. And soon will start on my unarmed Combat skills for the journey to commando. Will be forgetting Artisan and Scout skills soon also.

Holy hell did we have some battles tonight! Heres what I posted on the lowca forums. Readddddd

Wow did we have some fun tonight. So me and a bunch of rebel friends are on Tatooine around Anchorhead and Bestine. We go out Imp hunting as they are overt when they go on missions so they are easy to pick off. When we came across the rebel base covered with chimps. I had died earlier so I'm back at the med center when I get the message. So I head down there and see about 14 or so Imps, and my 2 rebel friends dead. So a few of us regroup and head back into the base. Only about 4 of us and we all declare Overt. Some go back into anchorhead for some more recruits.

We start attacking, I think Brad killed one and Skeezix and his goon squad killed one. Then we all died.... We really underestimated them this time, they were very well organized and what not. So about another 30-40 minutes pass while we regroup and get more recruits in bestine and anchorhead. So ok we've got enough to take them on now, about 10 or so. We head back out and all declare Overt within the base and rush out to meet them. It was like two shotgun spreads colliding. We took them all down but suffered heavy causilties, and they returned and killed off the survivors before we could get back out there. Soooo we regroup AGAIN. Now we have about even forces and head back out. I get there with 3 guys before the rest of the large group, there were only about 3 chimps there so we went ahead and declared overt and killed them all, right as the large group of covert reinforcements were arriving.

But were having trouble with this ONE guy. Hes got a huge pet (forget the name, always do), but hes name was like.....Diabolic. He was one shot incapping me. Luckily the covert group arrived just intime to heal me and I stood up and Incapped him, knowing it was very very important cuz he had the strongest known pet in the game (with the help of my pet, Dereth, of course). But I'm standing ontop of him, trying to DB him but it wouldnt work. Said I was too far away. So ya know there was nothing I could do. So he stood up, Incapped me AGAIN and my pet mauled him, but he DB'ed me right before Dereth incapped him. I was literally screaming "GET DIABOLIC! GET HIM! DB HIM NOW!" Lol cuz i knew if he got his pet back out, that would suck. Finally someone DB'ed him from my incap. So I'm dead now in bestine, getting healed up and such. I head back out after hearing more had come. I go out there and find that there were only about 2 causulties on our side, and all the chimps were dead. So we **edit**ed around for a while waiting to get wounds healed to go raid Bestine. But then a few come back. We murdered one, and then Diabolic showed up....

But he was outnumbered 1 to 14 to so he ran into the chimp city and hid in his house which was really gay. He would shoot through the walls, incap someone in one shot, then step out and DB them. I dunno if thats a master marksman skill or not, shooting through walls like that. But either way it wasnt very honorable, and if he claims that it was a good kill hes gonna be flammed to a crisp. But I left after he did that too me cuz its 2 AM and ive had enough of battling chimps for one night.

But all in all it was fun as hell, the Chimps did ok tonight. They were smarter than the average chimp and were more skilled too. So good job to yall, but in the end. The Rebels took back their rightful territory(Took a while though XD)

I'm the moderator of a 200+ rebel chat, I'm known as a pretty big Rebel leader now lol. I think I lead over 50 Rebels tonight o_O

How do I make a probe droid burst run?
Say I'm in a battle with Hermes (my probe droid), things get hairy and I have to burst run away. Do I just tell Hermes to follow and he'll burst run with me?

THEY'RE NERFING THE PROBOTS!

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Chilastra&message.id=14012

Current probot stats are 3,150 health, action and mind. They're going to reduce them to 800-900 of each. They're also going to reduce the damage that it does (120-135 for mine currently) 70%, which should bring it down to 36-41. This should make them about a third as powerful as a regular player.

Un-frelling-believable! Just when this game was getting playable to a point when I was actually starting to work up some confidence in my ability to go out into the wild, they pull this nonsense! What good is a probot now?! If you send it up against a mere mummer thug, it'll die!

imported_QuiGonJ
Jul 22nd, 2003, 09:02:09 AM
From my understanding, it'll still be as powerful as a fully maxxed out player, just not three times as powerful.

Jedi Master Carr

Well DV they have a point if you rely on them how can you get experience? I don't disagree with it but they better do the same with the creature handlers there is no way a novice CH should be able to tame a Rancor.

A fully maxed out player wouldn't have a gun that does 36-41 dmg and no armor.

Novice CH cant tame a rancor, we can only tame an animal that has (baby) in its name and is none aggro. You have to get all the way up one of the dicsiplines to tame a rancor. But what gets me is people SELL Them. And once its tamed, any CH can handle it which <smallfont color={hovercolor}>-Censored-</smallfont>es me off. Im part CH and spend my time training and taming my pets. So I hate when I go out to defend the rebel base agaisnt some cowardly imps(Not you guys, these guys attack a weak rebel base that spawns weak rebels in sets of 5 like every 15 seconds) and theres some weak <smallfont color={hovercolor}>-Censored-</smallfont> CH out there with the strongest pet in the game! It really <smallfont color={hovercolor}>-Censored-</smallfont>es me off! Bah -_- so if youre going to protest about CH, make it so that transfered pets lose half their stats or something.

They should nerf creatures so that the most powerful ones have 700 HAM and do 20 damage every 2 seconds, so things will be equalized.

YEA RIGHT. Theyd never do that lol. So youre saying a Rancor should only do 20 damage? Yea right. They will nerf them, but not to that extent.

Darth Viscera
Jul 24th, 2003, 02:34:56 AM
Why not? Considering the amount of damage a new probot can do, and considering the fact that you can have 3 rancors out concurrently, I think that the stats I stated above are very fair.

Ace McCloud
Jul 24th, 2003, 07:32:47 PM
Well they nerfed them. Before you could store them and it would heal, now you cant. And with the amount of HAM they have, if you dont find a doctor it would take well over an hour for them to heal, and even with a doctor it would take quite a while. I had first had experience with that today -_-

Keep the Rancors up (Hey! I back from working at a camp for a day)
Keep them up, but they need to make the skill to control them up near the master level.

Direct CH levels effect control. Like, a Novice CH with a Rancor might tell it to attack, but the Rancor attacks CH in blind rage then runs away. Something like that. Need to learn control on them.

talk to craftiey. if you're lucky you'll get a pre-sliced pistol that does 89-190 damage, 1.0 speed for 15,000 cred. I wasn't lucky, and ended up getting a pistol that does 66-127 damage, 1.9 speed for 14,000 cred, then another 1500 cred to get it sliced, which only changed the speed from 1.9 to 1.7. It's all a matter of getting there when he has them in stock in his vendor. The demand for his pistols far exceeds his supply, and he only does pistols well.

Coordinates: 5860 6619 (Craftiey's Arms Vendor)
Planet: Naboo

Don't try and send him a /tell for anything but a concise question, because like all master weaponsmiths who have 3 million credits after having sold 200 blasters, he's a prima donna who wants to expend as little energy as possible towards frivolous things such as being responsive and customer service, and one wrong move and you might end up banned from his shop and on his ignore list.

*Steps through the door and into Craftiey's shop*
Wyland: (to craftiey) "One pre-sliced scout blaster please."
*craftiey silently removes the blaster from his supply rack, starts packaging it*
*the package is handed to Wyland, who smiles*
Wyland: (nervous) "you know, I like your gun rack. Very professional."
Craftiey: "You think so, eh? No gun for you!"
*a previously unseen assistant reaches forward and snatches the blaster package from Wyland's hand*
Craftiey: "Come back, one year! Next!"

I dunno. Our area gets broadband on Nov 12, so I can get back to playing online soonISH (Doubt it'll be installed until Christmas). Now around that time our version of galaxies should be around, but I don't know if I'd want that. See to me, a MMORPG is a social thing. the US will have more people than the Europe ones, and more I know (SWF people, TF.N people, message board people.....). So if the price drops on the game or I find it cheap, I might pick it up and play. Worst case scenario, I pay $30-40 for a laggy 30 day trial and don't play again.

Non existant :)

Technically, it might NEVER come out. They delayed it to wait for a market IIRC, as broadband isn't that common. Well, how long do you wait? Might not be a market in a year, and by then more MMORPGs come out. By not releasing it early, they may well have guarenteed a failure in Europe.

That time is still a long, long way away.

Unless you enjoy spending dozens upon dozens of hours performing menial, repetitive tasks with little or no reward.

The game has serious issues.

*Sony Online Entertainment forced a release on it while it was still in the middle of beta testing. Perhaps if it were released on January 26 2004 rather than June 26 2003 it would have been ready. They wanted their money, and they weren't willing to wait and release a quality product. Major features, such as player cities, creature mounts (think Luke riding on a taun taun) and landspeeders were completely cut from the launch.

*The developers are seriously understaffed. In a game with nearly half a million players, each paying $15.00/month, it seems as though there are less than 20 developers and customer service reps. Every member of the staff is so inundated with bug reports and customer service issues that the game often seems to be at a buggy standstill.

*It seems as though the people making this game used to work on Everquest. I have seen no evidence that the developers have even seen the Star Wars movies. As a result, their idea of immersing us in Star Wars is to arm us with very weak popguns and send us up against recycled animals from Everquest. The game completely revolves around these Everquest animals, and they've built up 99.9% of the game's content around them.

can't think of anything else ATM

Ace McCloud
Oct 15th, 2003, 04:47:24 PM
I found this on the SWG forums.

"In all fairness to anyone who didn't "investigate" this game before purchasing, it is a StarWars licensed product which makes it 99% safe bet with 90% of the uninformed public. Name recognition and "faith" in a brand name is the PRIMARY goal for any marketing firm when dealing with a brand. So obviously the people who feel decivied by this game where the EXACT people the marketing department was aiming for. Even if you buy it and cancel your subsciption your $50 still helped cover the initial investment, so if you sign up 200,000 and lose 25,000 do the math on that one...

Release:

200,000 x $50 = $10,000,000

Month 1:

175,000 x $14.99 = $2,623,250

Basic math makes it look like one hell of an investment doesn't it, considering last time I read in 2 weeks they had over 175,000 subscribers (I believe). which would make my estimates low. So there is my lesson in econimics, and in sumation:

Marketing companies are paid to promise the Moon and more and manage to decieve EVERYONE on some level while staying just this side of legal. This is not the first product to be released that wasn't quite "as expected" and it most definately will not be the last.

For further example please refer to Hollywood and Motion Pictures to see the crap they call "blockbusters" that get turned out over and over again.

"

Sadly that looks to be the truth and a growing trend with mmorpg's.

Guess all we can hope is that the companys realize the majority of mature players who make up the largest portion of the gaming industry are catching on and wont always fall for the flashy market pitch because they'll have been jaded in the past by games like SWG

we can hope :p

SWG's failing (or one of) is that it failed to appeal to people like me - non hard core gamers who are adverse to spending 20 hours in a row playing a game. We HATE grinding. We hate repitition. We hate boredom.

Yet, all I've read about SWG leads me to conclude that is exactly what it is - grinding, boring, tedious.

OTOH, World of warcraft sounds different and interesting. Galaxies never sounded more than The Sims, which is mind numbingly tedious and boring. (I have played The Sims.... unfortunantly. What a load of crap)

Darth Viscera

You conclude correctly. SWG is only a timesink. No fun, just a boring, tedious grind. It's repetition.

I'm going to spend 2 hours Saturday and Sunday getting the last few hundred thousand credits I need to have 1 million, and then I'm putting my SWG account on hiatus, to return when there's something fun to do. 1 million credits should buy me a decent landspeeder when I return, if they've come out by then.

--This is brilliant! So i'm reposting it.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house
Just one creature was stirring, and clicking the mouse.
The stimpacks were hung from the backpacks with care,
Almost to master! Just need one more square!

The grinders kept grinding, ignoring their beds,
While visions of holocrons danced in their heads.
And Mamma in her fleshwrap and I in my composite
Had just settled down after a quick terminal deposit.

When up on the message boards came such a chatter
I flew to the site to see what was the matter.
Away into Windows I stole with a flash,
To read the new nerf, cost of 15 bucks cash.

The whiners already had cursed their new gun,
‘It’s nerfed beyond reason! This game is no fun!’
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But old Saint Q3PO full of nerf cheer.

The SOE staff had their nerf bats at ready,
But the servers as always were not quite so steady.
More rapid than eagles the nerf lists they came,
And there was the update, and each nerf by name.

No med droids! No dancers! No Bounties or Armors!
No clothing! No pets and no lewt for lewt farmers!
By the end of the list, by the end of the post,
It was hard to tell who had been nerfed quite the most.

I quickly logged on and loaded my ranger,
But his items were gone and his stats were in danger.
My backpack was empty, my hides were gone too,
Everything had been nerfed from my helm to my shoe!

I clicked on a link and I wrote out a ticket,
In seconds the staff made it clear I could stick it.
I reported a bug: “This nerf must be a goof”
And suddenly 3PO popped in with a POOF!

“We’ve nerfed the whole game to eliminate cheaters,
(Then he paused and ran back when he warped 50 meters)
We nerfed every Twi’lek and Mon Calamari,
We nerfed every stat and made customers sorry.”

“We made the Krayt Dragons less harmful than smurfs
and then we took care to nerf previous nerfs!
We nerfed Imps out on Bestine and Rebs out on Lok,
We nerfed all the flame guns and now they just smoke.”

Your once mighty carbines? Now barely can sting.
We nerfed every item! We nerfed everything!”
And as that old dev disappeared out of sight
He cried “15 bucks from all, and to all a nerf night!”

Also because I keep reading on the forums about Jedi getting killed easily, it seems way too hard to be a Jedi and I guess they want it that way.
