This will more or less be something I won't really implement until after our new FAQ is complete, but we can start talking about it now and maybe decide on some content.

There is a hack available that will make it possible for an automated PM to be sent to newly registered accounts.

I know in the RP section it could definately be helpful, but if we do create something like this we need to make it apply to any new user be they RP or otherwise.

At this time I'm just thinking that we can make it some kind of generic/general welcome and then provide an obvious link to the FAQ and such. Maybe it will help cut down on having some of the new RP folks come in without even an incling of a clue.

It won't work all the time because some people are just so dim they don't understand that to stop the flashing image where it says Private Messages and that you have an unread one means "click the link dummy".

Well I like your idea anyway. :) Any idea on how soon the FAQ will be re-written, and does anyone need my help with anything to do with it?

Eve is working on the first revision, and I am unsure of the ETA, but once its here we can all see about adding and or modifying as needed. I have a feeling it will be damn close to perfect with our Superstar Sistah working on it. :)

How about we set accounts to, by default, have the Javascript pop-up saying "You have a new private message"? It would be pretty hard to miss that way.

Nope. I've never once seen or heard about any problems with the Message Notification.
