Ok, so I'm an ex-criminal justice major, and I've been watchin alot of police dramas and doing some thinking. Also, I have lots of extra time this summmer, and I really have been in a very writing mood. I had an idea, and I wanted to run it by the general populace for any and all opinions.
Like Shanaria Fabool's (hope I spelled that right, Shanaria) 'thug' account, I was thinking, should there be the opposite? What about some type of 'constable' or 'police' account. So, this is what I came up with:
A Coruscant Police Department account. I would take the task of RPing this account, but perhaps if there was a group of people interested in RPing it and will do it with maturity and care, there could be a small group of people to do it. The reason why I say small is becuase I think that it could be a very delicate account. Anyway, it doesn't have to be shared--just an idea.
Basically, this account would serve as a very simple way for RPers who want to battle with or call for the assistance of Coruscant's finest to do so without having to NPC the police themselves. Of course, RPers always have the option of NPCing such services as the police. But some don't want to, and it would be cool to give them an option to interact with a force they didn't have to write themselves.
Rules I thought of:
1) The account will be called Coruscant Police Department.
2) The Coruscant Police Department (like in all good movies where fights occur between heroes and villans) would be on the whole ineffective and would be more of a presence/plot device than any kind of actual characters. The force would do no detaining, harming, or otherwise interfering with RPers unless requested and agreed upon by both the RPer and the police account (currently me).
3) The Coruscant Police Department would include a wide variety of services: patrol officers, SWAT team, helicopters, APCs, intelligence/detective squads, etc. The type of units present/responding will be requested by the RPer(s) involved and only those types will respond.
4) Once the Force is introduced via an opening thread, RPers may NPC any and all officers as they see fit. However, if requested, I will RP any role the other thread participants wish for me to write.
5) RPers will send a PM to the CPD account to request assistance at any time in a thread. Sample PM:
CPD:
I need you to appear in "CPD"(Title of Thread) in the "Role-playing"(Name of Forum) Forum. I would like to request 10(number of units) patrol officers(type of units) and one helicopter(anything extra).
You will be responding to a bank robbery(give a breif description of what is going on, I can figure out the rest based on your posts).
Thanks,
Randal Johnstoneyour name
6) The CPD will not be aggresive unless otherwise requested. Mostly, they will show up, maybe make a barricade, and pull the usual "FREEZE! POLICE! PUT YOUR HANDS UP" type of thing.
Anyway, I think through PMs, we could work out the details. Basically, I wanted to tell you all what I was thinking and then open the floor for opinions. Mods, please let me know what you think and everyone else is willing to criticize. :)
Thanks for taking time to read this, guys.
