The Maltese Falcon '41
Treasure of the Sierra Madre '48
Key Largo '48
Vertigo '58
North by Northwest '59
Notorious '46
The Big Sleep '46
Diabolique '55
Dial "M" for Murder '54
Rear Window '54
Bogart, Hitchcock, and Grant dominate this genre. Most all the modern pieces pale profoundly in comparision. Too much to choose from but picked these ones for certain personal merits. If the list was larger, I would have a dash of Welles too. No schlochy here.
