View Full Version : Fuel for the Fire (open challenge)

Oh, on I burn
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning hard, loose and clean
Oh, and on I burn
Turning my direction
Quench my thirst with gasoline
So gimme fuel
Gimme fire
Gimme that which I desire

It usually wasn't considered proper conduct for a Force user to go brandishing their saber at anyone out in the open. Today Arriana was doing just that.

“Please stop!”

“Where’s the fun in that?”

Thunk – a boot connected against the mans chest and knocked him back against the alley wall. Another spin on her toes and a roundhouse kick sent Arriana’s unfortunate victim crashing against a metal dumpster. She smiled an almost child-like smile as she sauntered towards the man, now breathing raggedly and bleeding from a bust lip and partially out of shape nose.

The sleek hilt in her hands jumped to life at both ends, two crimson beams kissing the air around them with a hiss.

"Maybe you should re-think that" I stated, coming into view. Dressed in civvies, I still had my favoured weapons on me - just in case I needed something. "Sabres are not for spoilt brats to play with. Why not a stick instead? You might not get yourself hurt that way"

The twin-bladed hilt span from one hand to another for a moment, as Arriana looked away momentarily from her plaything to see a woman at the alleys mouth.

“You want to play too?”

That impish smile still danced across her lips, as her eyes lit up with that thought of possible combat.

“There’s room for one more… isn’t that right?” she questioned, looking back to the man, who was now coughing and trying not to choke – presumably on the mixture blood and fear-induced vomit.

"Only Amateurs, retards or children 'play', as you put it. I'm yet to work out which of the above you are"

With that, I raised my hand and lifted the sabre bearer off her feet with the Force and slamming hard into a wall, far away from her intended victim as possible. I decided to first see first how well trained this other one was, before deciding on what to use against her. But to the man, I made a sign that he better get out of here. Now.

This was most unexpected. Arriana’s eyes widened and then suddenly squeezed closed as her back smacked up against the wall behind her. She grit her teeth as she slid down and landed on her feet, still holding on her saber for life.

“What? Too chicken to fight melee?”

Elieen Cross
May 26th, 2003, 02:08:55 AM
Oh, she was trying to taunt me now? An acidic smile came over my face as the muscles on my arms rippled, slim and athletic rather than bulky, well honed through endless hours of training - put to edge by fighting like nothing this other one had seen. My knuckles crackled with just the fist forming. Still with no weapon visible, I advanced a few paces, before dropping into a reverse stance, the leading hand coming up and giving the other a sign that clearly read 'Bring it on!'

One woman going empty hand against a dual ended sabre bearer? Either I was suicidial, thought too much of my abilities or insane.

There was the other option, of course. I was good enough to do this. What the answer was, the other woman would have to find out for herself.

She didn’t need anymore invitation than that. Springing away from the wall – and in turn using it to gain some propulsion – Arriana brought both hands onto the midsection of the saber hilt and rose it over her head, twisting the beams as she brought it downwards in a heavy-handed overhead strike.

My first action was to close in - stepping fast to make this work. Both hands reached out and grabbed at the sabre, even as it bore down - catching hold and halting it's progress.

It really was an audacious move - something unexpected. I pulled at the sabre, forcing her to come closer, then unleashed a front kick to the solar plexus.

She may have been booted backwards, but she wasn’t about to let go of the saber. With the upper half of her body falling first, Arriana gritted her teeth and inwardly smiled as the maneuver was pulled off. If Helenias kept hold of the saber she would be barreled forward and straight over Arriana as the Sith planted a launching kick into her gut. If she let go, then the Warrior would have time to revaluate and pursue a different line of attack

Even as she replied with a kick of her own, my hands shifted, grasping hers, hard. The sabre was locked in her hands and now, her hands were locked in mine.

As the kick touched my stomach, my feet were shifting and I went with the force of the kick - but not backwards. I used the Force to swing upwards, over the sabre like some sort of bar, to land back to back with the girl, her hands still locked in my grip. I bent at the knees, using my own body as a fulcrum and dragged her forward, over my head - a basic (judo) throw. I let go of her hands so she could go flying away, back into the wall.

Using the Force to do the last bit - I wasn't quite that physically strong. Strong yet, but there were limits.

I could sense we were not alone. One other at least was close.

Drawn to the sounds of a fight starting the rat faced Dark Jedi poked his head around the corner to see what was quite a neat little trick pulled.

Whoah! Cat Fight! Yeah!

Looking at the colours, he saw two dark ones (and hey, one of themwas as dark as he had ever seen.... wonder who she was?) and the other, a strong Light. a light he was familiar of. His hand strayed to the sabre he had, a nasty grin on his face. That was her the bitch he owed his look change to. The one that got him across the face with that stick thing. Ooooooh man, was he going to get that Evenstar bitch back for that... but for now, he waited to see how this present little skirmish was going.

In mid flight, as it were, she turned and balled, resulting in it being her back that slammed against the brick work. Again a tremor of pain ran up through her body, but she just tried to mentally block it out – she could sense her Master was nearby, and there was no way in hell she would show weakness with Sorsha watching.

Back to the floor again, looking down at bruises arms. Evidently fighting with a saber was a liability not only for Helenias but for Arriana too. This in mind, the Sith palmed the hilt back into its clip. She stood up, a defiant smile on her face.

“Now that we’re done with the warm up…”

Quickly beginning to move forward, she tightened her knuckles at her side. It had been a long time since she’d thrown blows, but she had a feeling that she hadn’t gotten at all rusty. Raising both hands up to crack her knuckles, she stopped a short distance from Helenias and rocked her head to the side before motioning for the woman to advance.

She had set herself into a defensive guard, knees slightly bent and body prepared to sway and snap in response to whatever should be thrown at her. The Darkside was flowing freely now, and it urged her on even if the odds of her victory were slim.

Mu placed one booted foot on the ledge of a nearby roof top to balance herself as she leaned over to get a better view of the scuffle happening below her. She pushed a brown lock of hair away from her face and watched as the two danced with each other. Her lip curled with a bemused smirk, "Childsplay..." She leaned further forward, placed her arms on her knee and relaxed her upper body. There was a hint of anticipation in the air. Others were waiting in the darkness, watching, ready for the spark that would ignite the fires of destruction, pain and anguish. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the bit of air that brushed against her face while she listened to the scuffling below her.

A voice echoed up through the alleyway to her ears, “Now that we’re done with the warm up…”

"Finally." She thought to herself. Mu stood straight up and jumped off the roof to land right behind Helenais. The Jedi jerked around surprised by her entrance. She grabbed Helenais by the shoulders, swept her legs out from underneath her and slammed her body into the pavement. Air gushed out of Helenais's lungs and Mu felt a few of the womans ribs crack under the pressure. Mu leaned in her head over the woman and spoke in a low dangerous voice, "Let's play."

Oh great. Kicked in the face and also having a Sith Master pounce on me. I had the feeling that this had changed from a simple and straightforward arrest to a much, much more difficult situation. One Sith apprentice, two Sith Masters and a Turbogeek. I was good, one of the best and I was sure I could take out two of them at once. Four? That was a challenge.

My hand had already reached out and my fingers touched steel even as Mu leaned over me.

"Your breath stinks" I snarled, before belting her with the bin lid I had found. Years of training and fighting took over, I rolled, got to my feet as fast as I could and threw the bin lid at Sorsha. Not noting what the result was, I leapt even futher away, to land on my feet.

4 verses 1 called for something different. Sabre and Pike came to hand - and unusually, I began to assess escape routes. I knew quite well no Jedi could take on this type of opposition alone. But it was quite clear, I was going to give them something to think about.

Now that wasn't bad, he thought. Seems she still had the bitch quotient from the last time they met. Turbogeek hesitated, knowing what that damn pike was like, before looking about for a piece of steel., anything to better match the Pike. He already knew to his pain what it could do.

A nice steel bar, not too heavy, about the size of a staff was near the junk pile. Perfect. He reached out with the Force and grabbed it, giving it an experimental swing. Ooooh yeah, just right.

"That Pike has a Cortoris coating" he said. "Be careful"

*As the Jedi stood, grabbing a weapon in each hand, a black blur sprung from behind, as she had approached a blocked off alley where the large cat had been hiding quietly with her Mistress.*

*The Jedi sensed the panther almost as it was on top of her, and used the spike to smack the large cat away, but not before three of it's outstretched claws had sliced into her upper arm.*

*Thrown off balance by the blow, the cat landed on it's side and came to a sliding halt, standing almost instantly to go back into the alley it had come from.*

*To Helenias, not much damage had been done. She would heal from the gashes in her arm. But if she knew anything about the animals of this galaxy, she would know that a Corellian panthers claws were venomous. And if she was not aware of this, then the poison would spread. And soon, it would begin to paralize and make her drowsie.*

*After the cat had disappeared, another figure took it's place, also coming from the short alley.*

Not much for liking cats?

*LV narrowed her eyes, smiling icely in Helenias' direction. She spared a glance to where the other Sith were, and the man. She frowned. She'd seen him before...*

*Instead of trying to desipher who he was, she instead returned her attention back to Helenias, not yet holding her lightsaber in hand, but very much prepared for anything the jedi might throw at her.*

Mu rolled backwards off the jedi trying to avoid the garbage bin lid, but was not fast enough. A loud metalic bang sounded as it struck her. She sprung to her feet and reached out with the Force and pulled the lid in mid-air towards her away from Sorsha. She caught it like a frisbee.

"I'll make a note to change my mouthwash."

Mu paused a moment as Iesis leapt from the shadows and attacked Helenais.

"Maybe she's a dog person," Mu called out to her old friend. "Let's find out. Here," Mu drove all her dark energy into throwing the garbage bin lid directly at Helenais's head. "CATCH!"

The lid shattered apart in a blinding flash of blasterfire, attracting attention to the man by an alley across the way in the black fatigues and combat vest that doubtless held many weapons. He was blindfolded, but given the aim necessary to make that shot on the garbage can lid, sight didn't seem to be a problem.

"That was the stupidest wisecrack I've ever heard," Pierce said to Mu. Then he calmly stepped back behind the corner he'd just come from, his combat senses running on high.

She smirked. This was an opportunity not to be missed. Taking quick stock of the situation, the Imperial commander turned to a nearby door, kicking it off its hinges. With grace and speed, she negotiated her way through the structure, and up several flights of stairs, as the battle raged on outside.

CRASH!

Above one of Helenias's escape routes, a window exploded into a thousand shards, as a crimson-suited figure leapt through it. She twisted and tucked her lithe body through the air, dropped three stories, and landed with the grace of a cat. Her shoulder-length red hair was tied back in a no-nonsense fashion, and it was quite obvious that she wasn't here to bring the Jedi any reinforcements.

She winked at Helenias, blew her an air kiss, then spun her athletic figure into an opening kata.

My mind was set into battle sense - the state of mind a Jedi went into when they fought, their danger sense ratcheted up, their moves faster and helped with the Force. It was unlikely these would know also how well I saw the future. Pike in hand I pointed at Sorsha.

"Eeny"

At Mu

"Meeny"

At Eluna

"Miny"

And then at Vader.

"MO!"

The tip of the Pike ignited, sending electricty leaping across the gap between herself and me, lighting up the alley as the energy burst forth and crackled. even while that happened, my mind lashed out, pickign up Mu and sending her flying hard back into the rubble pile she had just made.

The Pike, even through the pain I felt suddenly stopped, reversed, and flew like a spear, spearing Sorsha in the shoulder. I had long ago learned to deal with pain, it was not but a inconvenience. In times past, I revelled in it.

Maybe not now, but pain was an occupational health hazard.

"You really think Jedi are that weak?" I snapped at Mu, before the mental attack hit her. It was by force of mind I crashed into her mental defences, mentally suggesting she should kill Vader, even as I began to move once again, to keep myself from being a stationary target.

The delay of a few seconds was all Pierce had to save himself from being buried beneath falling blocks of duracrete. Fortunately, his Combat Sense had those seconds built in.

Pierce started moving just before the glowing red object left Mu's hand- when it had embedded itself in the wall, Pierce was busy diving to the street a few feet away. It was enough to keep him from being buried, even if several large rocks did leave their mark.

His mental senses shut themselves down, shrinking in tight and quiet. He waited- thirty seconds, a minute, how long he wasn't sure- to give the impression of unconsciousness before getting back up off the ground.

Pierce lifted the blaster and aimed it at Lady Vader, one of only two targets he could still see from inside the alleyway. Even though she was facing him, her eyes and concentration were both on Helenias and Pierce might still take her by surprise. With a flick, the blaster was on stun and three shots were hurtling through the air towards her.

*The three blaster bolts screamed towards her and she only had a split moment to react. It was a graceful dance between cat and angry energy as she bent and twisted to avoid the shots.*

*Yet, while the first two made it past her, the second was close enough to sinch the clothing from her left shoulder, thus burning her arm slightly. She hissed as the pain registered in her brain.*

*The one good thing about the blaster bolts is it had directed her attention to her new assailant AND pinpointed his exact location. And how convenient he was in an alleyway... narrow and long.*

*With a sneer, she looked up and twisted the supports holding the balcony above where Tondry stood. With a loud groan and crack, the concrete and metal structure came down, bouncing and smashing into both buldings, sending large shards raining down. The same happened to the one next to it and the one next to that, all along the llength of the building where the alley was. The man was quick and reacted, but with the chaos errupting in the alleyway, it weas hard to see what was happening. Eventually the balacony too crashed to the ground, kicking up large wisps of dust and debris, making the ground shake slightly.*

*The man was nowhere to be seen.*

As the figure in red pummeled Helenias into the ground Mu began advancing forward when she felt a throbbing pain start at the back of her mind. Within moments it became a stabbing pain pulsating along her optic nerve as she heard the command, kill Vader.

Mu slowed her stride and brought her hand to her right temple and began to massage the pain, invigorating it, masochistically enjoying it. The pain fueled her anger; the Jedi's mind trick enraged her fury and brought forth all her reserved hatred for the Jedi Order and strengthened her mind defenses.

She focused upon the connection the Jedi had forged with her mind. The danger in using a mind trick was the connection created a two way street and Helenias had highly underestimated the skills of her attacker.

Mu reached out and seized Helenias’ mind and squeezed the blood vessels until they began to rupture. Blood ran out of her ears, eyes and down the back of her throat choking off what little breathing capacity she had left.

"Jedi weak? Oh believe me, I know they are," she said quietly.

The metal slap that Mu got in reply was stunning, to say the least. She hit a solid wall that was my mental shield, that showed I was no ordinary Jedi. It was hostile and it burned in reply. It was white hot from the power from the Light side that even I hardly knew I had, because it was in reflex.

I was dealing with a lightning bolt and a droid. In my mind I had seen both coming, the foresight I was so good at coming true. The droid was powerful enough to overcome my own physical strength, the lightning should have hit me.

That was the script, anyway. What happened was the lightning was caught on an outstretched hand, becoming a ball of energy, then absorbed. The droid planted it's kiss, the hand that had absorbed moved like lightning itself and I shoved two fingers into the droid's light receptors.

BANG!

It flew backwards, blasted off me as I released the absorbed energy right into it's head. It sailed away, to smash into a wall, leaving quite a decent imprint. Mu, just a second later, got a garbage can thrown into her knee, to stop her attack that was.....

On the ground, I paused, trying to get to grips with something here. I had absorbed Force lightning and had discharged. This was not something I was aware I could do! It had been done in reflex, without thinking.....

Shaking somewhat from the rib injury, unsteady of breath, I got up. Puzzled, bemused I was, for it was years since I had absorbed anything, since that fight with Itala. Since then, I had shown not a single bit of ability with it... Had I had it all along after all?

The Intelligence agent and Jedi Padawan gripped onto a durasteel ledge that was actually a windowsill inset into the building's wall. An automatic pull-up got him to the right height, where he tucked his knees and slid inside the protective space just in time to prevent serious damage from the falling debris. His arm caught some scrapes from falling chunks of durasteel, but otherwise he was still alive and in good condition.

Rule one of entering lethal combat: choose your approach carefully. It will save your life someday.

Thanks Dad.

Pierce closed down his thoughts again, trying to hide long enough for the enemy to consider him dead and turn their attention away from him.

:: Helenias' private moment is ripped away with a thundercrack as the sky turns blood red above her. Shadows form around Sorsha as her spell is complete, bathing her in a shimmering black radiance. It flickered around her like a fire, as she pulled the forcepike out of the ground and stood ready ::

"I am your death, Helenias Evenstar. Come and face me."

The garbage can exploded into thousands of tiny razor sharp shards and flew back toward Helanias shredding her flesh. Mu's arm stretched out as she continued to channel her energy against the Jedi. The air became thick and heavy as a dark wind began to move at their feet.

Helenias Evenstar

My foresight warned me of the physical danger - my hand came up and mentally I ugred the shrapnel to stop as if they hit a shield. Pieces hit the ground as they stopped abruptly just centimeters from my hand.

"Oooh, nice light display... can I use you for a decoration? You'll go well next to Venom's head"

My confidence was up from the unexpected absorbsion and from the knowing I had that this fight had some unexpected twists to come.

"You really think someone who was a servant of the Emperor is concerned with your posturing? You don't impress me at all. And your going to play games to my rules now"

I also had enough of the mental battle with Satach. I pointed, the shield dropping as I manipulated The Force once again - the Sith picked up and head slammed into the nearest wall to break her concentration. Now I had the barest time to pick up a metal pole, which would compliment my lightsabre nicely.

What were my rules?

Let them try to hunt me first. Oh, I knew I couldn't take on them all at once, but there were ways to force them into attack patterns I could deal with. Which is why I abrupty bolted to the right as fast as a Jedi could possibly do, dived through a boarded up window and rolled away from the opening.

Come play little girls, Lord Fire Blade awaits you!

:: Sorsha had to smile as Helenias dove through the window. It was a clever move. Her gaze caught the man that Arriana was assualting earlier. The stupid fool watched the fight instead of fleeing. Perhaps in his heart he hoped to see Helenias slay the darksiders, and make her deed into song for generations.

The pike in Sorsha's hands was charged with magick to kill Helenias, but she turned on her heels and speared the man through the chest.

The man's shriek was horrid as the lifeforce drained out of him, and through the pike. His hair turned white and his face become sunken as Sorsha drank his soul through the spell.

The death scream stabbed Helenias in the heart, there was no defense against it as it faded into a gurgle. Her ego and her pride killed this man today, and the sky darkened as rain began to fall.

Sorsha turns to Arriana and motions to her as she pulls Helenias' weapon out of the dessicated corpse. It was time to go ::

Arriana, who’s role had been minimal, if anything beyond being a catalyst for this greater fight, was more than happy to leave. She had been crouched at the sidelines watching the goings on from nearby her victim when the pike impaled him and calmly got to her feet at her Masters command, following at Sorsha’s side.

*LV saw Helenias disappear through the window and taunt those Dark Siders outside to find her. Her face turned into a scowl, and she walked to where Mu had been uncerimoniously thrown against yet another wall. As she walked, she noticed from the corner of her eye Sorsha and her apprentice leaving the area. There were those Sith that would stay and play cat and mouse... and then there were the expereinced ones that knew when a fight had gone stale. They knew better than to dive in after the Jedi, as they would be easy pickings in close quarters.*

*LV bent down and helped Mu up, who was cursing and brushing herself off. When Mu was done with a rather colorful srting of words, LV spoke.*

Party's over. Time to go home.

Leaving so soon?

For a figure so daunting as the Dark Lord of the Sith, it was quite suprising that he had spent the entire duration of the event unseen. It was not his style to make an appearance on queue. For Darth Vader, striking when least expected was the only plan of attack. He approached Lady Vader and Mu, gazing off at the direction Helenias had fled.

Perhaps Evenstar can be persuaded to enter the fray once more.

On command, a phalanx of stormtroopers began to assemble around the building, setting up E-web tripod autoblasters, concussion missile launchers, and flechette weapons. Their coverage of fire would perforate the building completely, and if sustained, bring it to its foundations.

*LV looked up, after having helped Mu up, as the familiar presence made itself known. Leave it to Darth Vader to show up when you least expect him.*

*She smiled, cold and calculating, as Vader set his troopers on the building where Helenias had disapeared through. She shrugged, and looked up at his obsidian mask.*

I can be persuaded to stay if you are able to get the rat out of it's hole.

Mu felt the Jedi's mental sheild drop in that moment Helanias reached out to throw Mu against the wall. Mu allowed her body to be punished in order to gain the greater prize, she was embedded in the Jedi's mind now. Keeping her mental grip firmly attached and focused she was only mildly aware of her automatic verbal barage as LV helped her to her feet. "You don't get rid of me that easily..." she finished as a new pressence made it's self known.

She could hear the troopers take up their possitions.

"Personally, I've got nothing better to do so I'm game for a full dance card," her eyes blazed as she dug her mental claws deeper into the Jedi. She could feel her gloating inside the building, congratulating herself... prematurely. "provided the entertainment isn't cut rate."
