About League of Extraordinary Gentlemen:

"I got offered 'The Lord of the Rings,' and I turned it down because I didn't understand it. I was offered 'The Matrix' ?- twice -- and I turned it down because I didn't understand it. I don't understand this movie, but I'll be damned if I'm going to turn it down."

Was LOTR really that confusing? :)

Its a wonder he didn't turn down Bond.

What a weirdo. I guess out of this world things don't excite him.

CMJ

After the "Avengers" debacle he was probably leery of anything strange.

I don't understand Zardoz but he did that... he must be slipping in his old age. ;)

Like CMJ said he probably was afraid of doing anything like the Avengers again.

I wonder what parts he was offered in LOTR and the Matrix...

ReaperFett

Gandalf and the Oracle I would wager.

I can't imagine him baking cookies :mneh

ReaperFett
May 13th, 2003, 12:31:45 PM
I can :)

"Careful Mr Andershun, the cookiesh are hot"

Obviously that part would change ;)

Wonder if this was before or after Brad Pitt was to be Neo and Val Kilmar Morpheus.

I don't think Connery would have worked for Gandalf. Also wasn't he offered Dumbledore as well or was that just a rumor?

I loved the Avengers

LOL! The thought of Sean Connery complete with apron and baking mittens is just quality comedy.

Seriously? o_O

Brad Pitt was going to be Neo?

ReaperFett
May 13th, 2003, 05:50:30 PM
Yep, did Fight Club instead IIRC.

Brad Pitt would make a boring Neo, I think.

ReaperFett
May 13th, 2003, 05:52:51 PM
Yeah, who would I mock for bad acting? ;)

Far better to imagine COnnery acting with Reevesh, Mosh and Lawrensh ;)

Thank GOD he turned down the part, then. Fight Club > Matrix. I cannot emphasize this enough.

The second half of Fight Club gets a bit boring for me, it loses it's style and flair. Great ending nevertheless but overall as innovative and wonderful as it was, I prefer The Matrix.

Brad Pitt is too good an actor to portray Neo. I liked how Reeves performance made him sterile and artificial, probably bad acting but it worked for the film. Pitt has too much character about him and worked perfect with Fight Club.

mmmmmmmmmm.... Fight Club

Fight Club kinda bugged me towards the end, I had been studying Psychology at the time and one part of that doesn't work......

What's the justification behind that comment?

Me=tired of LOTR hype. To know someone else is rejecting it is a wonderful feeling.

LOTR is a perfectly good movie. Hype seems like a ridiculous to base the whole of your dislike upon.

Posted same time as Dasquian. Long story short, getting bombarded with links to LOTR sites and pictures and being told day after day how absolutely gorgeous the male cast is and how funny it would be if it turned out they were all homosexual has got me feeling very anti-LOTR-ish. The movies started all that, and as the source of these things that I hate, it stands to reason that I should hate it, too. ::shrugs::

I see nothing wrong with getting bombarded with links to LOTR sites and pictures and being told day after day how absolutely gorgeous the male cast is.

It was done REALLY well... and just because some people can be alittle Freaky when it come to being a fan doesn't meen that you should hate the movies..

Do you dislike the Matrix also?

Zeke
May 14th, 2003, 01:09:34 PM
No, but I'm close. Kindo doesn't AIM me anymore, so I haven't been hit so heavily by it.

I wasn't trying to start a war, LD. Just venting some is all. I'll be a good li'l poster and stick to the topic. :)

I find it disheartening that Sean Connery found LotR too confusing.

I mean, how confusing IS it? o_O The Matrix I can believe, I had to see it a few times before I really understood what was going on at all times.

ReaperFett
May 14th, 2003, 02:02:31 PM
Probably the whole "Shoron" and "Shorumon" thing ;)

(They did confuse me. Evil man, has two letters extra to the evil man many years ago. ANd noone suspected him? :))

Oriadin

Bond, Jamsh Bond.

Sorry, Fett started it. Does seem strange that he would turn down LotR. I think its good, but not as good as everyone here makes out but its certainly not confusing.

Matrix I can understand, although I did understand it first time. I imagine reading the script would be more difficult. For the record, I think Keanu's acting is pretty good actually and he gets unfair critasism.

Spelling sucks, Ive had a couple to drink, good night! :D

ReaperFett

We know you have drunk. You said Keanu is a good actor ;)

Maybe it was just a tad long for him :p That thing with Sauron/Sauraman is funny the names are very funny I wonder why Tolkien did that? Also does anybody know did Connery turn down Harry Potter or was it even offered to him?

ReaperFett
May 14th, 2003, 06:04:43 PM
I think Tolkien did it simply so I could be confused to if it was emant to be obvious, the crafty thing :)

Sanis Prent

I'm a bit "blah" about the Matrix and LotR hype myself, but I enjoy the movies well enough. Just hate the fanboys and fangirls
