View Full Version : If a dressing room is locked from the inside...

Lilaena De'Ville

And the door is an actual door...and you happen to be in a skirt today and can't try and climb over the 8 ft wall...and a paper clip in the little hole isn't working...what SHOULD I DO!?

Short of just yanking the door open and breaking everything, of course. Or C4. I think C4 is a bad idea.

Coat hanger?

Sanis Prent
May 11th, 2003, 02:33:52 PM
climb over that, Amazon lady :)

May 11th, 2003, 02:34:33 PM
Or, change into trousers in a next door changing room, then go for it :)

Sanis Prent
May 11th, 2003, 02:35:53 PM
nah, stay in your skirt, but set up a camcorder beneath you :)

Lilaena De'Ville
May 11th, 2003, 02:36:12 PM
Actually I think I'll do that. Although if I land on my head I'll probably never be able to type again. ^_^;

Depends. What kind of lock are we talking about? Is it deadbolt style? Is it the kind of lock that's in the handle? If it's the one in the handle, there are ways to push in the little thing that holds the door into the doorframe (I have no idea what it's called). If it's facing out, the credit card trick will work. If it's facing in, you can use something like a L shaped piece of aluminum.

This probably made zero sense. It'd be much easier to explain with a diagram.

you're going to set the cam up? :eek

*makes mental note not to use a dressing room around Gurn O_o*

Women's dressing room?

Climb over it! :)

Isnt' there someone who has a key? o_O

I've only had that sort of problem in one of those stupid bathrooms with only one stall(what's the point of that?!).. people love to lock those from the inside.. At least you can crawl under them, even if the other three women just standing around in there talking about stuff give you funny looks. ^_^;

Lilaena De'Ville
May 11th, 2003, 02:42:21 PM
If I could crawl under the door, I would already have it open. Its about half an inch from the ground, however. My l33t skillz are not that l33t.

Sanis posted while I was posting my reply to Fett. :mad

And Gurney, its the lock in the handle and its facing IN , if that makes sense, so the credit card trick won't work. :x

That's simply info on how to jimmy any door that's not terribly secure, Leeloo. I don't go trying to break into dressing rooms in my spare time. :p

Also, does the door swing in or out? If it swings out, the hinges should be on the outside. It's simple to just pop it off the hinges in that case.

If you can fashing some kind of thing, L-shaped instrument, you can slide it in the space between the door and the frame, slide the hooked part around the mechnaism and pull out. It's like the credit card trick, but in reverse.

Lilaena De'Ville
May 11th, 2003, 02:43:56 PM
Ooh I could pop off the hinges.

Customers: ....

Me: Don't worry, we don't make a habit of breaking into our dressing rooms. ^_^;

Then the door would fall on me. Hooray!

I still think you should climb over while wearing your skirt. I have a strong need to see your panties.

How come you guys don't have keys to the dressing rooms for stuff like this? o_O

I don't want to see just any panties...only a select few :)

I vote in support of Charley's revolutionary idea!

Leeloo Mina

I vote against it..

Or for it if I don't have to see ^_^;

Lilaena De'Ville
May 11th, 2003, 04:34:36 PM
:x Charley - no!

And the same goes for you, Visc. :mad

Its still locked up tight. And no, there are no keys to the dressing rooms. Honestly, we have more problems with people not closing the doors when they're inside them. This incident is unprecedented. Anyway - they're the type of door locks that just have that little hole on the other side of the door handle. No keyholes.

Our dressing rooms are always unlocked, its not the type of store where you have to get someone to let you into a room.

^_^; I'm still considering clambering over, but I'm going to get covered with dust. And....I'll get covered with dust.

Sanis Prent
May 11th, 2003, 04:39:40 PM
Seriously, I need to see your panties. We can't forget this.

Lilaena De'Ville
May 11th, 2003, 04:40:49 PM
I'll put some on my webcam. NOT!

And even if I did, I wouldn't be in them.

o_O Is that alchohol I smell on your breath?

ReaperFett
May 11th, 2003, 04:40:49 PM
Could be worse. Imagine if there was treacle instead of dust? Then you'd be covered in treacle :)

Gurney Devries

Anyway - they're the type of door locks that just have that little hole on the other side of the door handle. No keyholes.A lot of those will open if you open up a ballpoint pen, take the ink tube out and shove it in the hole in the doorhandle. Maybe jiggle it around a bit.

Don't make me censor you, Fett. :mad I said no such thing.

ReaperFett
May 11th, 2003, 04:45:00 PM
Sorry :)

Like I was saying above though, what's a bit of dust? Just change into some trousers (It's a clothes shop, you'll find some), go over, unlock, change back into skirt.

I am not drunk. How dare you.

Figrin D'an
May 11th, 2003, 04:54:28 PM
How far of a drop would it be if you had to climb over the door? If it's only about 6-7 ft or so, I'd say go for. Change, like Fett suggested, then give it try. In the end, it'll likely be a lot quicker than trying to pick the lock.

Just remember to bend your knees when you land, cause knee strains suck. :)

Hey, don't get mad at me. I'm just selflessly trying to be supportive of Charley. And it's nearly 82 degrees in here with much humidity, and the heat makes me giggle and think of funny things. And I am wearing one of those mexican hats that look like they're made out of shredded wheats. And all my ice cubes are frozen on the outside and really watery on the inside.

Hootie hoo!

I used a coat hanger. I was searching for a metal bit like Gurney suggested, and then I looked at the curvy ends of our coat hangers, and a light bulb went on. :idea

I stuck that in, and pulled it out and voila! Door is open. And I didn't have to climb over. ^_^;

*hugs Charley* How dare I? I dunno I must have grande cahones. I think I spelled that wrong too. >_< it was an innocent mistake. :p
