Okay, as some of you know, I like cars. Specifically muscle cars form the late '60s. And, some more of you know that I own a '67 Ford Falcon. While she is not a muscle car, I at least want her to run and drive well.

Here's my problem, though: She won't start.

Under the hood she's got a straight six 200 ci engine, which is weak, I'll admit, but it came with the car. I know the not starting is an electrical problem, because when I hooked jumper cables up to my Carolla, I was able to get the beast to start. Though I forgot that I had the choke pulled all the way and the Falcon started in overdrive, deafening me before I could get it back to idle. Once started, it ran fine, though I didn't take it anywhere.

The starting from a jump led me to believe that it was jsut a low battery, so I put it on the charger overnight, and this afternoon it listed a full charge. Okay, so I put it back in and hook everything up, get in, and turn the key.

*Click Click Click Click Click*

That's the sound of a starter trying to go when there isnt't enough battery power to get it to turn the engine over.

So, now you see my problem. I know the starter, alternator, distributor, spark plugs and battery cables are fine, because all were replaced recently, and I have had the car consistently starting and running off of them for a while before she died again. So, if any of you have any ideas that might be able to get my Falcon running again, they would be much appreciated.

<font size=1>My baby. Sort of. Okay, she doesn't have the vinyl top, mags or stripes, and she's not a GT. But, she COULD be, okay? Sheesh...</center>

You tried to jump it?

I did jump it, and it started. It started in overdrive, but it started.

Bad battery?

No, the battery is fine. Had it tested earlier today. Now I got it running again, from a jump again, and it ran fine for about fifteen minutes in place.

Then, when I shut it off, I tried to start it again, btu all I got when I turned the key was a single click, and then nothign at all. Nothing happened when I turned it again. My overhead dome light remained on the whole time, though.

Are you sure the battery is fine, cause it does not sound like it. If it satars normally from a jump, then even if the battery "tests" fine, it's dead. I know, the battery in my runaround reads okay (13 volts) but there's clearly not enough amps in it to kick even that tiny motor over. Change batteries and try again first.

Crudley wudley.

I can't afford a new battery. But, more problems have cropped up with the engine, and I know I can't afford to fix them, so, my hund for a 289 or 302 Ford V-8 with transmission continues...
