I got this project for my freshman design class, and the thing is, it has to move on it's own. We've got a gearing system going on, but the gosh darned thing keeps binding and we don't know why. Anybody have any good ideas? They didn't teach us about binding gears in lecture.

Make sure the gears are tightly packed...

I've no idea what you're talking about.

Well, I figured someone on these boards would know about gearing and such as that.

Basically, when the gears bind, they don't turn. Either the gears are not touching, or they just aren't close enough to gether to do anything but just spin and make a clicking sound. It's really bothering me. Competition day is in weeks, and I want this little problem solved el pronto. I can't do the tug-of-war if the gears bind then the gosh darned thing tries to pull a particularly heavy weight, namely another car.

Are the gears all interlocking? Any too small?

Okay, I think I comphend. Problem is, I need some sort of visual to see. Once I do, I'll be able to work out where you have a problem
