You probably won't, dizzy.... never before have all four #1 seeds made it to the Final Four. There will be at least one of the lower seeds that advances to New Orleans.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Marquette. They've shot the ball extremely well in the tourney so far, they took out a very good defensive team in Pittsburgh on Thursday, and Kentucky is going to be playing with a less-than-100% Keith Bogans. I honestly think Michigan State has a great chance to beat Texas, as well. Texas gets most of their points on the inside, with Ford driving and dishing the ball. Michigan State crashes the boards better than almost everyone. If they take away Texas' offensive rebounding ability, they can win.

Interesting as well... the Big East was getting most of the press so far for the good play of it's teams. Now, all but one are out (Syracuse) and low and behold, the conference that everyone thought was the best at the beginning of the season, the Big 12, has three teams still alive (Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas). And... no ACC team will reach the Final Four... that breaks a streak of 6 years I think.

Big 12 - 3
Big East - 1
Big Ten - 1
Conference USA -1
SEC - 1
PAC 10 - 1

Holy crap... at halftime

Marquette 45
Kentucky 26

I felt Marquette could compete with the Wildcats, but this is shocking... Kentucky looked absolutely clueless on both sides of the ball the last 8 minutes of the half... they're gonna need a huge effort to get back into this game, and hope that Wade, Diener and Novak all go cold.

It's unreal. Go Mid majors! ;)

Now if the Jayhawks come through I'll be rolling. ;)

Figrin D'an
Mar 29th, 2003, 07:17:38 PM
It's starting to look like a re-run of the Arizona-Kansas matchup earlier this season... the Jayhawks run out to a big lead, then start to handle the ball sloppy and take bad shots, and Arizona trims the lead down by halftime.

Another Kansas meltdown in the making?

I was impressed that Kansas was able to pull themselves together mentally for the second half. There had to be some thoughts in the lockerroom at halftime of "Here we go again," after Arizona made that run to close the first half. They got just enough from Heinrich and Graves down the stretch.

Marquette/Kansas... that's gonna be a fun game to watch.

Well there goes that big matcup all the commentaries were drooling over and complaining that they should be meeting in the big game. Marquette just shcoked me I think they might just win it all know, the way they are playing. Also when was the last time no #1 seed made it to the final four? I think there is a chance of that happening.

Figrin D'an
Mar 29th, 2003, 10:15:08 PM
It's only happened once since the tournament expanded to 64 teams... 1980, with Louisville (2), Iowa (5), Purdue (6), and UCLA (8). Louisville won the title that year.

Bogans being hurt aside... Marquette just dismantled Kentucky's defense. That's scary. With all due respect to guys like TJ Ford, Hollis Price and Carmello Anthony, Dwayne Wade might be the best player in the country.

Jedi Master Carr
Mar 29th, 2003, 10:19:54 PM
I agree Wade was very impressive.

Mar 29th, 2003, 11:35:10 PM
Hey, I picked Marquette, and I was rooting for Kansas even though I went with Arizona. :p

But yes... you and CMJ are off to good starts in this round. If Michigan State AND Syracuse win, I will be truely shocked though.

Jedi Master Carr
Mar 30th, 2003, 01:36:50 AM
I think Syracuse will win, the game is in Albany and it is basically a home game for the Orangeman, not sure about Michgan State they are playing well but Texas probably will win.

Admiral Lebron

Those devil worshipping michigan state kids will lose!

CMJ
Mar 30th, 2003, 11:36:03 AM
Actually Lebron I've never understood that way of thinking. Whenever a team I like goes out, I always root for the team that beat them. That way I can say MY team lost to the eventual champion.

Rooting against the squad that beats you just makes Maryland look all that worse IMHO. :p

I knew Syracuse would win today, in a way I am rooting for them I feel sorry for Behimen, he has never won a title. He has been in the title game 3 times I think, (loosing to Georgetown, Kentucky and Louisville.) Maybe he finally can win that big game. Michigan State is giving Texas a hard time right now, should be a heck of finish.

Figrin D'an
Mar 30th, 2003, 06:23:03 PM
Yuck... 1-3 this round... I knew there would be upsets, but I picked the wrong ones except for Marquette.

Two great matchups next Saturday, though... I'll be glued to the TV for both.

I was wrong about Syracuse losing to Louisville they lost to Indiana in 1987, Kevin Smith for Indiana took the winning shot, I know they lost to Georgetown in 85 in the big East final (had 3 teams in the final four), and I think they lost to Kentucky recently but I could be wrong, I know they lost to somebody in the last 5 years in the title game.

Syracuse lost to Kentucky in the '96 final, and to Indiana in the '87 final. And it was Keith Smart that hit the game winner for the Hoosiers.

Well I got the name wrong :) Man Syracuse has had a lot of bad luck in the final four, kind of like Duke before they finally won it. I think Syracuse has the best winning percentage of big schools who haven't won a title.

Whatever Lebron. I personally just find it better to lose to the champion than to a team, that lost to a team, that lost to a team that won it all.

Kinda makes you look bad IMHO. :p

I usually carry a grudge against the teams that beat mine. After my team gets eliminated I usually switch conferences and go for someone there. I usually hate every other team from my teams' conference enough to never cheer for them no matter what. :p
