before the oscars have commenced (i saw the pianist today)

i would rate them
Lord of the Rings 4 1/2 Stars
Chicago 4 stars
The Pianist 4 stars
The Hours 3 stars
Gangs of New York 2 1/2 stars

Just the first year? It's been awhile since I haven't seen all the nominated films for Best Picture. In fact I try and make a point of seeing everything that's up for anything.

My ratings...

Gangs of New York - 4 stars
Chicago - 4 stars
The Two Towers - 4 stars
The Hours - 4 stars
The Pianist - 3 1/2 stars

no i ussually see them after the oscars because my area sucks at getting low end movies like the pianist in and i have to wait for the dvds

I've never come close to seeing all 5 nominees. I saw just one this year, although I intended to see 3 of them. Just never got around to it. :\

Only 1 year I've seen all 5 movies, being 2000 when American Beauty won.

This year I've only seen The Pianist. I could have seen more though, but usually I can't, simply because we're way behind here, release-wise. :\

This is the first year I see them all too, mostly because of this place so I don't fall behind when you all start disagreeing about movies, ;).

Also it seems that once you have a serious relationship over a year old (almost two now) the only thing you do is watch movies. And not only on the cinema, but on dvd, vhs, even on the web! Oh well...

BTW of all of them I enjoyed Chicago the most (TTT is very close) and GONY the least.

They are all good movies, but GONY did not work as well for me as for others.
