Subscribing to a thread...

Up until recently, I have relied on my memory to tell me which RPs I need to check on and reply to and the like. Then, after getting fed up with that, I just copied/pasted the links to RPs I was in into a wordperfect document. This actually worked, however it is now becoming quite an inconvenience due to me never wanting to open that awful awful program.

So, my question is: how does one subscribe to a thread here.... I've been looking for the option thingy, yet have not seen it... and I don't think I can subscribe through the user control panel.

there is a linky undearneath the quick reply box that says 'Receive updates to this thread'

okay, I dont know who edited my post :| but each style set has different things for the subscribe option

In my AOTC style has Subscribe to this thread..... either way the option is underneath the quick reply box.

Yeah, I think that is what confused me... On some of the other style sets, it clearly stated "Subcribe to thread" or whatever and that was what I was looking for in this style set.

It was me who edited while I was making a quick run through this morning. I'm using the same style as Snack, but I did just edit all the styles to have that link read as 'Subscribe to this Thread'.

Also it can be done (subscribing to a thread) by checking the "Email Notification" box in the quick reply area or even the new thread and regular reply areas.

Yeah, now you make it easy to find and figure out. :p

And wouldn't you get the added e-mail + the update (so to speak) of the subscribed thread in the control panel if you clicked on one of those? Or does subscribing to a thread by clicking on "Subscribe to thread" send you an e-mail as well?

Both options do the exact same thing.

Subscription = email on new replies

BTW Snack. I have put in a request at the vb.org forums for a hack that I got the idea for from Morg when he posted a request here in this forum. I have requested a hack be made that will give users the option to subscribe, but not get email notifications.

I looked at the source files and tried to figure out a way to do it myself, but it was beyond me, being a function spread across several source files.

We shall see if that request gets filled or not.

That'd be most appreciated to whoever can figure out how do to the hack. I'm not a big fan of un-needed e-mails.
