View Full Version : Cast your minds back to prehistoric times (Sega Genesis/Megadrive)

Okay. I've decided to go and buy myself a Megadrive. I know they're ancient now, but I can't help the lingering for nostalgia. It'll be relatively inexpensive to buy the stuff nowadays, so money's no problem. Any suggestions for games to go with it?

Eternal Champions, the Sonic games, Chakan, Haunting: Starring Polterguy, Phantasy Star 4, Shing Force 2, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Maximum Carnage, the Mortal Kombat games... that's about all that comes to mind, off the top of my head.

Sonic. That's all the gaming you'll ever need right there. :)

I honestly think you should just save your money and download emulators... but seeing how this is past tense... O well, be happy with your buy.

On a side note, anyone notice how the original nintendo prices seem to be sliding upwards? Seems Nintendo has slipped into the realms of collectible.

Oooh! Yes, the "... Strike" series. Let me see. There was Desert Strike - that was quite good. Then Jungle Strike - I loved that game - the commanche, the hovercraft, the bike AND the F-17! Was it Urban Strike after that? I can't really remember.

Wonderboy! Wonderboy in Monster World was kind of like an RPG (if I remember correctly). God knows how we handled rpgs on consoles with no memory abilities!

On a side note - the Sonic Series is avaliable on Gamecube. You get Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D and Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine all on one disc that fits into the palm of your hand - a bitta nosh in my opinion!

And I think I'll get the Streets of Rage series too. Oooh - and Alien 3 - that scared the hell out of me when I was younger!

Streets of Rage I, II, and III are games you cannot be without on the Genesis. Also, X-Men is fun, and Brawl Brothers.

Gosh, I wish someone would make a new walk-through beat-em-up that didn't suck. Just take the map from GTA: VC and take otu the cars and install lots of thugs. Bam, fight your way through the city, how cool would that be? Ahh, for the days when a metal pipe was the best weapon in the game...

Yeah, but, if you don't have the original controller, it's just not as fun.

Emulators are legal, the ROMs arent, unless you already own the title or keep them for 24hrs.

24hrs bit is BS. You have to own it.

Anyway, Maximum Carnage was/is my favorite beatem-up.

Don't own a comp Zaky, so no can download Emulators, and I wouldn't either.

Makes me think I'm breaking the law or something.

The 24 hour bit is something ROM sites put up to try and justify themselves.
