:: Ok, so it wasn't exactly mayhem, but they were making enough noise and laughing as though there were no tomorrow. The party (http://www.swforums.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27742) was already in full swing with all the tables filled with Jedi. Jokes were being said, stories told, and drinks poured. Everyone at table 4 was definitely having a good time. ::

Wei laughed as he listened to the conversation.

"And the duck goes into the store and he says, 'Got any gwapes?' And the owner says, 'No, we don't got no qwapes.' So the duck leaves..."

Wei loved that joke. He took a drink of his water before continuing.

"Duck walks in the next day and asks, 'Got any gwapes?'

And the owner says, 'We ain't got no gwapes, and if you come in here and ask that again, I'm going to staple your feet to the floor.'

Duck walks in the store the next day and asks, 'Got any staples?' The man says, 'No." Then the duck asks, 'Got any gwapes?' "

Wei absolutely loved that joke. The Padawan laughed, then ate a grape off of his plate. Funny how things happen to relate to each other.

"So, who else has some good jokes?"

Sage Hazzard
Mar 6th, 2003, 03:22:55 AM
Sage chuckled. He'd heard it two million times before, the oldest joke in the galaxy, but the enthusiastic telling of it made it still humorous.

He didn't have any jokes and it seemed that was the order of the minute. So he waited for the next comedian to make him laugh.

"Hm...I don't know any that you guys haven't heard before, I'll bet...we don't get much in the way of humor at ground level. "

Liu scoots a chair and slides it up to the table.

"Good evening Master Hazzard. And...who might the two of you be?" he asks, gesturing to AB and Wei. "I hope others arrive. The table looks kind of empty, ne?"

Wei Wu Wei

Wei looked about. He hadn't noticed that there was no one there.

"What do you know? There sure doesn't seem to be anyone here at all, now that you mention it."

Wei smiled and gave a half salute, half wave over to Liu.

"My name is Wei Wu Wei. I'm a Padawan at the GJO and have been here studying for a little while now."

:: AB smiled at Liu as well. ::

And I am Master Rie Mystt.

:: She looked around. ::

It hasn't gotten full just yet, but the Jedi are still arriving. I'm sure we'll see the rest of our table's guests soon.

Liu Fong

"Very well, Wei and Miss Mystt. It's nice to meet you."

Liu sits silently for a moment, then picks up the silverware in his right hand. He moves to take the other set on his left, but frowns as he remembers he lacks his left hand.

"Forgot again."

He sets the silverware down and sits back with a sigh. So much for idle drumming...

Alan Joyce

It wasn't like Alan to be late, but it also wasn't like him to not have his tweed suit cleaned and pressed before an informal social function. In the particular case, the latter caused the former to occur.

He strode carefully between the tables, his light tan suit fitting perfectly, and his gold-patterened tie neatly knotted under a well-starched cream collar. Every hair was in place, and his cufflinks and two-tone brown and white shoes were neat;y polished. Alan Joyce disliked disorder when it could be avoided, especially when first impressions were to be made. If he were to be late, he would at least look his best.

"Excuse me, everyone, I'm sorry I'm late. Mishap at the cleaners, you know." he explained in a courteous voice, then raised his eyebrows, "This is table four, isn't it? Or have I misread the table layout diagram at the front door?"

Destiny Stormrider
Mar 10th, 2003, 06:29:59 PM
Destiny ran as fast as she could. Ever since she had joined the Order, she made very bad first impressions. This was another one of those. Her shoes were covered with mud, as well as the bottom of her black dress.

I hate formals!she said to herself.

The youngest Stormrider finally arrived at her table. She took a deep breath before looking at the people that had arrived on time, unlike her.

"I think you're at the right table, unless we both misread the diagram..."

Liu Fong
Mar 10th, 2003, 08:12:33 PM
"Yes, yes you both are. Have a seat. My name is Liu. I don't think I've met either of you."

Wei chuckled. "I'm usually late to parties too, but most of those parties were far too loud and rambunctious for me."

Wei took a bite of the food on his plate. It was a wonderful dish. The food at the party was very fancy.

"Pardon me, but could you pass the pepper? I need it for this...uh, this....uh..." Wei had no idea what the dish was.

"This stuff," Wei said at last, pointing at some sort of noodles.

“Good Grief…” Kanji muttered, passing through the tightly packed party crowd. For the occasion, he had gathered a set of black velvet robes trimmed in silver runes and carefully wrapped his wings in black silk hand wraps to keep the massive appendages from accidentally injuring some. He learned quickly, and painfully, to hold his tail in close so that unsuspecting Jedi wouldn’t trip, step, or run into it as well.

Eventually, after some more grief and muttered curses, Kanji arrived at the table described in the summons and stood twitching, “Lo all!”

:: AB pointed to Wei's noodles. ::

I think they're Chandrilan curl noodles... though don't quote me on that.

:: She herself stuffed a mouthful of noodles into her own mouth as Kanji joined them. Finishing her bite so as not to talk with her mouth full, she smiled at Kanji. ::

Hello, Kanji! Glad you could join us!

Liu's unsure as to what he should pick at first.

"Master Hazzard, what would you recommend I try first?"

Sage Hazzard
Mar 12th, 2003, 01:38:44 AM
Sage chuckled. He had risen a shaker of pepper into the air and was passing it to Wei.

"Well, it seems these noodles are good. Or atleast it seems that way..." Sage took a bite out of his.... "MM! Yes, indeed, try these."

Sejah Haversh
Mar 12th, 2003, 02:27:51 AM
It seemed that table four had a problem with being on time, but Sejah had a good exuse. His speeder broke down on the way back from the post office; where he had just picked up the attire he was going to wear that evening. So, in the cramped and dismal stall of a feuling station bathroom, he changed clothes into a beautiful deep purple greatcoat trimmed with gold, and a deep crimson sash wound around his middle as a belt. A pair of creamy white satin pants with ivory and gold-colored leg strappings and spats completed the look, with a white silk shirt beneath it all. It had been the standard in male Nehantite formalwear for nearly a thousand years where he was from, with only slight changes in pattern or cut over that time, most of those in the shoulders.

So, he had just run four miles in a heavy wool greatcoat into the air-conditioned and purified halls of the living quarters just to run a brush through his headfur, stick his scimitar and kris into his belt, and then look himself over quickly before dashing off to the hall where the event was slated to happen.

Slowing down just before he entered, Sejah straightened the collar of his coat once more and adjusted his kris in his belt. Then, with a pull of the large doors, the brown mongoose setpped inside, grateful that he wasn't the last to show up.

There, at his table sat Destiny, the girl who had asked him out in the LQ some time back, but then said she would be unable to make it. Evidently, her plans hadn't worked out that way, and he was happy she could make it after all.

"Good evening, everyone, sorry I'm late. Speeder broke down again." he explained with a chuckle before pulling out a chair next to Destiny. "Hello there, Miss Stormrider, glad you could make tonight. Was beginning to think I'd be coming stag to this event. Hello, Sage, Miss Mist, Wei, everybody else."

OOC- Since I don't expect you to know what a greatcoat is, here is an attached set of sketches.

:: AB pointed a fork in Sejah's direction as he took his seat at the table, chuckling. ::

Sejah, you just need to get a major overhaul done on that bike of yours. It's so tweeked, it's a wonder it's still running!

:: She stuffed another mouthful of noodles into her mouth, followed by a forkful of greens. Swallowing, she continued. ::

In any event, that bike could use a good pampering over at the GJO garage.

"BIKE!" Wei said in a deep, rumbly voice.

"What sort of bike?" Wei asked. He had little to no knowledge of bikes and speeders, having grown up all his life on an old cart that was powered by a lone mule.

Liu Fong

Liu begins to eat, careful of his table manners. He nodded to the newcomers, then swallowed his noodles. Unfortunately, Liu doesn't know much of speeders and bikes. Well, he knows something.

"The coverings of speeders and bikes make excellent parts for housing."

Alan Joyce
Mar 14th, 2003, 03:04:22 PM
"Oh, how very true," Alan nodded, agreeing with Liu on the subject as he sat down. "You know, I had a friend in college once that made an entire house out of old speeder parts. It was really quite fascinating; the doors were--"

Sejah Haversh
Mar 14th, 2003, 03:09:10 PM
"It's not a bike," Sejah cut Alan off. He had experienced the engineer's babble before, and knew it would never stop unless someone else butted in. "It's a regular speeder. Removable hardtop, actually. I don't like it near as much as my car, but, the Flagline can't exactly fly, now can it?"

He smiled as he said it, serving himself some of the noodles, and a decent helping of vegetables while he was at it. Twirling some of the pasta onto his fork, then spearing some steamed carrots to cap it, he remarked, "You know, I don't think I've ever seen so many of us in one place before," then popped his forkful into his mouth.

Destiny Stormrider
Mar 14th, 2003, 04:59:56 PM
Destiny had sat down just before Sejah arrived. She felt awkward amongst strangers but she knew it was one of the few occasions she'd have to get to know her fellow Jedi.

Imitating the rest of the people present, she served herself with noodles as well. Unlike the rest of them, she didn't like them much.

"You're right, but you see most of these people at the Academy, training and such.", the Stormrider replied, relieved that the subject had been finally changed.

Wei Wu Wei
Mar 16th, 2003, 06:04:25 PM
Wei grinned. "Yeah. We've all come out of the woodwork for once."

Wei looked at the vegetable dish on his plate, then his noodles. They sure were boring. So, Wei decided to have some fun, and mixed his vegetables in with his noodles and soon he had a very strange type of vegetable lo mein.

"Training is fun. Well, it's fun sometimes."

Liu Fong
Mar 18th, 2003, 06:46:00 PM
"Training can be fun, I suppose. It certainly beats freestyle boxing with a spring matress focus pad," Liu agreed. "If you wander the Academy during the afternoon hours you can find hundreds of Jedi training. It's interesting, the different teaching styles you see."

Sage Hazzard
Mar 19th, 2003, 10:52:13 AM
Sage nodded.

"Indeed. I've learned much simply from eavesdropping on many such teachings. Even after I was promoted to my current rank. I'm pleased beyond no end that we have so many talanted Jedi here at the GJO, and at this table."

:: AB finishes her meal and pushed her plate ever so slightly from her. ::

:: She shook her head, remembering. ::

It's been so long since my training days. So much has changed in the last several years.

:: She getsured towards Sage. ::

And what Master Hazzard just said is very true. The diversity of the Jedi here, talents and otherwise, make the Order very strong and important to safekeeping the galaxy.

Wei grinned, staying on topic, but also moving a little off topic. "I'm good at Force Boosting."

Liu Fong
Mar 26th, 2003, 11:46:29 AM
"I haven't learned much of anything, other than how to think at rocks," Liu says with a grin at Sage. "Training is scarce for me, but I don't mind it. I get plenty of time to work on my own between lessons."

Destiny Stormrider
May 15th, 2003, 05:17:18 PM
Destiny followed the rest of the people at the table and had some noodles.

"My first training was horrible! I hope my second one is better. At least I know it can't be worse..."

Liu Fong
May 23rd, 2003, 07:35:36 AM
"My training thus far has been enjoyable, even if it has been just one lesson. What did you learn first, Destiny?"
