View Full Version : I need suggestions for a Sanis soundtrack

Sanis Prent

Here's the story:

I already made a Sanis soundtrack, about a year and a half ago. While it is awesome, I feel I need more music to capture his style. So, I'm creating the Sanis Soundtrack: version 2. However, I'm drawing a blank on what else to put on it, and I need some help. Here's what I have so far, so you can get the gist of where I'm going.

Saliva - "Click Click Boom"
Eric Claption - "Cocaine"
Allman Brothers - "Midnight Rider"
Metallica - "Turn the Page"
Hank Williams Sr. - "Tear in my Beer"
Eagles - "Desperado"
Soundgarden - "Burden in my Hand"
John Michael Montgomery - "Beer and Bones"
Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow - "Picture"

That's 9. I need about six more. Though its mostly rock and country, I'm not partial against rap, though the generic stuff need not apply. Same for pop. There is a theme here...so think about Sanis, and what songs might best capture something about him. This will help me alot, thanks :)

You should.

Here's a few songs off the top of my head, all from Hank:

Hank Williams Jr - Cold, Cold Ground
Hank Williams Jr - Been There, Done That
Hank Williams Jr - Lone Wolf
Hank Williams Jr - Family Tradition

I've just been hellbent on Hank for the past few weeks.

Take any or none.

I tried it out...but it didn't seem to fit. Good song though. Just didn't have a Sanis feel to it

I don't know exactly what these songs are about, as the lyrics are a bit odd. But I'm not sure, but the 'feel' of the songs might fit Sanis' style. It's like funk with a layed back style.... I think. Beck's an original taste.

Beck - Lord Only Knows
Beck - Hotwax

Hmm, I have no clue. I've been working on a very very ecclectice soundtrack for Ryla (everything from Minnie Ripperton to Cream to BTO to Rush to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to Norah Jones to Talvin Singh to Fleetwood Mac) and it's still not done. You just gotta be patient and sometimes a really great song just falls into your lap.

Then again, I'm approaching her soundtrack from a chronological, story-telling perspective, so that may be why I've taken a very long time. I should post it sometime, it's about 23 songs as of right now. :)

Yeah it's Shame of Life by Butthole Surfers. LOVE that song. Heck, there's another song by them that might be good... forgot the name.

"I don't mind the sun sometimes
the images it shows
I can taste you on my lips
and smell you in my clothes
cinnamon and sugary
and softly spoken lies
you never know just how you look
through other people's eyes"

Goes something like that. :)

Hmm... let me think... a good song for Sanis...

Maybe "Settle Down" by Zwan. Though it might be too slow for Sanis... Also, just for kicks, while you're looking for that song, try "Come with Me" by them. Zwan's great. Billy Corgan's new band after Smashing Pumpkins.

Ooohh... Beck's Midnight Vultures might have some funky songs for Sanis. As you can tell, I love Beck. So I'll come up with a song by him for you! This I pleadge! :lol And just in case you're thinking if the other song styles don't fit, another song by him won't either, that't not the case. Beck is such an amazing artist he has a completely different style for each CD.

Tis what I got so far now :)

I'd like to get maybe 5 more, so I can do a final cut :)

Maybe its my age but there ought to be some code of ethics that prevents a group from calling themselves "Butthole Surfers". Thats just nasty :x

Nasty name. Good band. They do a lot of good music :)

Grey Matter by Finch, maybe. Dark Center of the Universe (by Modest Mouse) might work too. I'll try to think of some more.

On a side note...its very difficult to find a good quality version of Hank Sr. singing Tear in my Beer. I have no idea why :(

SpaceHog - "Female of the Species"

'Space' did 'Female of the Species'. Unless I'm mistaken and SpaceHog are another band with a similar name who did another song with the exact same name o_O

Edit: and I found a good copy of tear if you want me to upload it to my site.

Das, the song I was talking about IS the one by SpaceHog, regardless of whether a similarly named group has a song with the same name. ;)

Ugh. Metallica. x_x

For Serious:
Massive Attack - The Hunter

Should be on the Batman Forever soundtrack.

I liked Metallica's self-titled album, Master of Puppets, and some of the tracks off of Load. The rest is pretty much garbage, in my opinion.

And I can't stomach anything by Kid Rock. That one song - "American Badass", I think it's called - I don't even know how that gets classified as 'music'.

Turn the page is a craptactular song tho.

Um......no!

Its awesome, and actually better than the original.

Shawn

Good Metallica: Master of Puppets, Sanitarium, Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, King Nothing, Until it Sleeps, etc.

Bad Metallica: Garbage Inc. (or was that Garage Inc? I can never remember :p). Off of Reload, the only two tracks worth mentioning are The Memory Remains and Unforgiven II (a sequel to a song? Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. Over.), and neither are nearly as good as any of their older songs.

All IMHO, of course. ;)

Just glancing over my current playlist. A couple that stick out are:

Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
Foo Fighters - All My Life
Tom Jones - Mama Told Me Not To Come
Tom Jones - It's Not Unusual
Goldfinger - Superman
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine (ie. Ode to Navaria)

Ok. That's more than a couple but these also came to mind as I wrote. :p

Keerrourri Feessaarro

Folsom Prison Blues was on Sanis Soundtrack v1 :)

Oh well it would be! :mneh

Keerrourri Feessaarro

And Alien Ant Farm does Smooth Criminal (an atrocity). Michael Jackson does Bad (proper form).

And I've never heard Tom Jones do "Mama Told me not to Come". However, I have heard Three Dog Night do that song, which is also on Sanis v1.

I will smite with firey retribution any who dare say the AAF version fo "Smooth Criminal" is better than the original. How dare they! :grumble

Geto Boyz - "Damn it feels good to be a Gangsta"

haha I'll never be able to listen to that without thinking of Office Space.

Charley, do you like Techno at all?

LD- It depends on if you want to make one that is semi-chronological (like Ryla's so far) or just general tone... You do need Black Sabbath's Evil Woman!

Lilaena De'Ville
Feb 28th, 2003, 06:25:54 PM
Hmm a cronological one would be awesome. And I've never heard that song!

BTW I got rid of KaZaA, so what program should I get to get music with now?
