Not really, I see it as exerted their freedom of speech.

Keerrourri Feessaarro
Feb 20th, 2003, 03:28:18 AM
Freedom of speech is a totally, totally different matter here. Freedom of speech is an equitable representation of their opinions. Calling in to talk shows, like James Woods did...that is an example of equitable free speech.

This is not. Its dressed up like it, sure. But the moment a celebrity uses their fame to cheap-shot themselves onto a soapbox, high over other people who cannot do so...that is unethical. HIGHLY unethical. That is my problem with this. Its as crooked as false statistics reported in times of elections.

I hope they try, and are arrested for trespassing.

Or maybe I'll just cross the border to the Great White North and do the same. They act like America's the only nation with a NCB arsenal...good grief.

Going slightly off, I'd hope James Woods would call up if I did a talk show. That'd be ace :D

WHY did he?

I just hope GWB is not going to <smallfont color=#FFFF00>-Censored-</smallfont> everything up with these aggressive policies and cause thousands or ten of thousands of unnecessary deaths. I am speaking of civies and US troops mainly. I semi-stand on the fence but since Iraq keeps insisting on not providing adequate proof of biological and chemical weapons disposal or the manufacturing lack there-of, what is the world to do??? We gotta remember this is not apple-pie Uncle Sam anymore.

:lol @ the canucks

Yep, that goes for the canadians and english troops being committed to this potential war on Iraq. And any other allied forces.

Shanaria Fabool
Feb 20th, 2003, 01:56:46 PM
There are alot of people involved with this potential war on Iraq. A number of canadians have died for this. And it didn't help when the USA bombs there allies well they practice(I know thats old news but it still bugs me).

I just happened to be reading a post by a very disgruntled Canadian at the time, so I thought I'd share. (I have taken great delight in uncovering a treasure trove of Foreign Pro-Action supporters, despite what protests and support polls may say otherwise:D)

I was thinking about this question while I took a break and the simple truth is that Canadian politics aren't very interesting anymore. We have ceased to be a world player through the bankrupting of our Armed Forces and our failure to back up the best friend that we have.

Like those 5 million "screaming lunatics" the other day we are irrelevant and while I live here and have served this country and it's citizens all of my adult life I am ashamed of what my government has done to this country!

I thought we could do better and so I tried. I joined the Alliance and the PC's and did what little I could but the task is hopeless.

Thanks to the Tory and Alliance "head butting" contest I feel that we have lost our place in this world and I don't see any possibility of change in the near future. We are now a "one party country" and we live under the same controls that the old Soviet Union lived.

The Liberals are much sneakier but the principle remains the same - Trudeau saw to that.

We will continue to disappear on the world stage and it is now unimportant whether I vote or not.

In the next election I don't think that I will bother. It's not worth the price of the gas that I will expend getting to the polling booth.

So...to answer the question...Canada is a very unexciting place these days and there is no news.

Taxed to death and no hope of a reprieve because of innate stupidity.

We deserve our fate!

"We are gutless!"

Here's not not losing heart. Wish you luck :)

Shanaria Fabool
Feb 20th, 2003, 02:23:45 PM
Where did you get that!! Canada is not gut less!! Nobody ever pays attention to us! Thats the only reason you don't hear us on the news. And as for the voting bit, more people per-capita in our last election, then in the states!

Lets see....

...Pro-Action community on the internet, compared with Transvestite community on the internet. Executive or not. Doesn't matter. Not even close.

Shanaria, as I stated in that very post, it was written by a disgruntled Canadian. Ergo, its from a Canadian perspective. You can read more from the site <a href=http://canadian.blogspot.com/>here</a>.

Furthermore, his point wasn't about voter turnout. It was about disparity between political parties, essentially shamed that Canada is turning into an increasingly one-party nation...to which he applied a communist barb to. Not saying its right, per se, just saying its from a Canadian POV.

Keerrourri Feessaarro

Poll suggests that 70% of England is against the war.

100 - 70 = 30%

Is England over 30% Transvestite? :)

Did I mention I like your new pair of pumps, and matching earrings?

Cannot be proved. ANd the point, which I know you're ignoring, is you're making out as if just because you saw it online it makes a significant number :)

But thanks for showing how it is possibly that more than 2/3 of the UK doesnt want to go to war :)

Unlike cooked war-opinion polls, I won't purport to knowing how many feel this way. But it is a significant amount. To ask how significant is as silly as asking a left-funded public opinion poll about war support :lol

Alternatively, there are Canadians who are members of the KKK, Canadians who Inbreed, Canadians who beat their wives viciously.

It's their Canadian POV that what they're doing's acceptable. Doesn't mean the majority of the country agrees.

I mean, I'm sure we could find numerous Americans whose pov is that all humanity should be destroyed, or even just America.

Y'know what? I'll agree that in Canada, our Government sucks. It sucks a LOT. It would make the husband of a black hole jealous(<-- semi-dirty joke, figured I might as well censor it myself =^) However, that's because our government consists of the worst people Canada has to offer. Our politicians get voted into office according to how convincingly they can lie. None of them ever really seem to have the good of our country in mind once they get into power, it's all about their personal luxories.

But you can't label all Canadians by those who run the country...

That's just ignorant.

(I run off topic like a Pro, don't I? ^_^

One thing that I'm entirely skeptical about is when people complain about the "Liberal Media".

I don't necessarily believe in that. I think the root in their behavior is capitalism.

Sensationalism is by definition what deviates from the norm. This phenomenon is positively correlated with media ratings. The more sensational a story, the more likely you are to "tune in". Liberals generally run parallel to sensationalism, because that is also part of their definition. So, I think in an effort to maximize profit (this isn't a bad thing, per se), the media is perhaps a bit more receptive to the liberal front. You'll see occasional relapses though, when most Liberal points of issue reach saturation (ie. the Bandwagon Effect). At these points, media sources can swing suddenly to favor conservative issues, to kind-of set cabin pressure at equilibrium. Its a trend of increasing liberal partiality, but that being said, its an unfair jump to imply that the media itself is liberal, not without a lot more information at hand.

/rant :)

Money (and ratings) is the root of all evil. >D This "Liberal Media" makes me vomit and does appear to have some corrobative relationship with politics and the famous (in some instances). It is a propaganda medium!

Fett, its all over the news. This isn't something vague and murky. Chiraq is acting like a pimp, trying to slap and intimidate others in the EU into getting their ducks in a row. This isn't something behind the scenes and obscure. Unless people live under a rock or refuse to get involved, its a recent, relevant issue that people are aware of.
