Both are messy mediums. My paint palette is covered in quick-drying gouache and my hands, mouse, and keyboard are coated with a thin layer of black pastel. I hate these mediums. Give me a pencil and a sheet of paper any day.

yep, charcoal is another pain in the <smallfont color={hovercolor}>-Censored-</smallfont>, gets everywhere and stains your hands.....

And it smudges, so that when someone brushes your 3 hour masterpiece, the fine detail on the trees in the snow is ruined.

That's why you use that nice adhesive spray stuff :) works wonders...however...make sure where you are doing it is well ventilated :D

I hear ya, though....I hate pastels and charcoal (vine charcoal is awesome, however)...my Life Drawing class sucks...'cause that's all we use...that and Cante Crayons ...bleh

Conte

And I love pastels, chalk ones, and conte. Loads of fun. Buy some spray to keep it from smudging and you are set :)
