Marcus, I envy you sooo much. The Blue Moutains are fugging gorgeous. Snorkling and scuba-diving about Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef was the highlight of my vacation in Australia, absolutely breath-taking. I swear, given the opportunity, I would live there in a second! :grumble

Kangaroo meat is pretty damn good. Unusual taste and you have to get em fed right so the meat isnt too grainy.

I think that side of the valley is still okay. Near Blackheath, near the Hydro-Majestic, it's matchwood. Worst drought in centuries is just turning the place into a firetrap. There's a 100 km firefront in Victoria and the Alpine area is trashed. Around Canberra, which caught a firestorm, every tree for 50 km is razed. North of Sydney the fires are beginning to get a run on again.
